With the election for New Orleans mayor just three days away, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco said Wednesday she is not prepared to endorse any candidate in the race. However, the governor had harsh words to say about certain aspects of current Mayor Ray Nagin's job performance.
"He's in a campaign right now and not doing anything but campaigning now, trying to get himself re-elected," Blanco said. She went on to criticize Nagin's understanding of the way the federal government spends recovery money. "The mayor never has understood any of the processes that need to be undertaken in order to get the money into the appropriate hands."
A spokesman for the Nagin campaign did not immediately return email requests for comment. Nagin faces 21 challengers in his re-election bid.

I am sure he has. But everybody has gripes against the mayor, too. Blanco's mouthing off is quite hilarious, however, and a keeper.

I love that. Blanco better be very careful here There is a lot more legitimate Nagin complaints can be forth coming against the Gov. And you know what. Nagin is the type to say what is on his mind and damn the political cost. Gov Blanco must have seen some internal numbers in this mayors race or something. I am pretty amazed that she is criticizing someone she might have to make some amends to in the future Gov race.
This is sooooo Clintonesque of the Libs -- in true form -- back stabbing their own when they are trying to save their own miserable losing asses.

I expect she would love to see Mitch Landrieu as mayor of NOLA. If he is still LT Gov. he still might challenge her in the primary. Mitch is the biggest potential threat to her having opposition since its clear that Breaux is not running.

I think you misunderstand their past relationship. They were never close. She is still furious that he endorsed someone besides her in the Primary. Also if memory serves me right I do not think he endorsed her at all in the runoff against Jindal. Its important to remember Louisiana Dem politics is a little different here. Plus on top of that Nagin gives a odder mix to it.

Nagin is a terrible mayor but compared to blanco he is a class act.
Blanco is the biggest loser I have ever seen as a governor.

Blanco is a horrific person.
She would go ranting how Bush didn't care and wasn't picking up bodies in the 9th ward. Then she would get the contractor looking for bodies under her power. So what does she do after going after bush, she lets them stop looking before they ever did a thorough search.
One thing I respect about Nagin is that during Katrina he would at least say what he felt to the cameras.
Blanco's aides were passing e-mails to the dem elites like mike mccurry laughing about bush's poll numbers. Blanco's aides were on e-mail with harry reid wondering how they could use this against bush. Blanco's aides have some nerve going after Bush when their boss is the worst governor in the history of the united states.
Nagin on the plane with Bush wanted to settle things while Blanco's aides were worried about politics and how it would look.
I detest Blanco. She and her aides are stuck up clueless rats.
IMHO Blanco should go, Ray Nagin should go, and anyone named Landrieu should go!!! Add anyone from the "racist" CBC and NAACP should be barred from NOLA! Then and, only then, will the good citizens of NOLA have a chance to make it back!!!
