A controversial question given to students during a practice test for a math final at Bellevue Community College has students - and others - shaking their heads because of its lack of racial sensitivity.
A civil rights activist said it refers to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice although it doesn't mention her by name.
The question read: "Condoleezza holds a watermelon just over the edge of the roof of the 300-foot Federal Building, and tosses it up with a velocity of 20 feet per second."
The Condoleezza question went on to ask when the watermelon will hit the ground, based on a formula provided.
BCC spokesman Bob Adams said the college has received e-mails that are primarily angry that this could happen.
Student Chelsey Richardson, 25, said she discovered the question while studying for the math test in March. She was one of the students who brought the issue to officials at the community college in the Seattle suburb.
The college has refused to release the name of the teacher who wrote the question, but said the teacher hasn't been fired. The teacher has apologized and requested cultural sensitivity training, the college said.
How about this for a question:
"Muslims hijack a plane and slam it into the World Trade Center for the greater glory of allah. Infidels stuck on the 110th floor are literally baking alive from the intense heat. They decide that jumping off the World Trade Center is a better death than roasting alive. At what speed to they hit the infidel firemen on the ground floor?"

Of course. No conservative would have written that particular question. And if a conservative professor had written a similar question that insulted any liberal-protected pet constituent, he would have been fired immediately. Only liberals are allowed to be racist in this country.

My bet is that the professor is black and was expressing his contempt for conservative blacks.

Have the same question phrased by a male conservative and the entire liberal paper crowd from the NYT to the WP and followers will call for his hide.
Have such done by a liberal her, she gets coverage and protection from her same minded college bosses when in fact she revealed planned, unfetterred, incorrigible racism at a taxpayer funded institution.
Her superiors are co- responsible but she knows they're in sync.
It seems some are clinging to such stereotypes to the point where they'll deliberately avoid picking out slices of watermelon at a buffet in case some white person happens to see them!
In my view: they really need to get over themselves and get with the 21st century.
The problem with the Condi math question example is that it feeds into the black community's stereotype of her as an Uncle Tom / race-traitor figure. In no way do I believe this instructor did not reach for that message deliberately.
I thought that was quite curious as well. Requesting "racial sensitivity training" is a tip off, imho.
If Teddy is in the car when it hits the water, how many cubic feet of water will be displaced?

I read your link (thanks) and can only say: It is SO time for some people to get over themselves! How can one live a life if they have to spend all their time interpreting all these symbols and stereotypes?

The mainstream media will not obsess over this because it is OK by leftist standards. The media obsess over any flimsy allegation of racism by any white against any black.

No way Rice could throw a decent size watermelon up at that velocity. The guy is probably talking about some other big beasty Condoleezza.
