Immigrant Groups Plan Campaign to Bring Legal Changes
NY Times ^ | Apr 20 2006

Posted on 04/20/2006 12:14:49 PM PDT by george wythe

Leaders of the demonstrations that drew hundreds of thousands of immigrants into the streets last week announced Wednesday that they were planning voter registration and citizenship drives across the country in an effort to transform the immigrant community into a powerful, organized political force.

[snip]

Anjelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, said she and others preferred to focus on events that would win over the American public, suggesting that a national economic boycott might unnecessarily alienate ordinary people and decision makers.

Ms. Salas and others are proposing a national day of community service, in which immigrants, some of whom are in the country illegally, would make repairs in local schools and paint community centers to demonstrate their value to the community and commitment to the country. The date for that demonstration has not been set.

"It is critical for us, that we really, as we move forward, take actions that are embraced by the American public, that touch the hearts and minds of the American public, that they get to know us, that they understand who we are," Ms. Salas said at a news conference here.

The debate over how to harness the emerging immigrant activism comes as politicians, church leaders and advocacy groups continue to marvel at the large numbers of immigrants, most of them Hispanic, who have turned out in recent weeks to demonstrate against a House bill, which was passed in December, that would criminalize illegal immigrants and those who help them.

In effect Mexican citizens will be voting in our elections. Non-Americans will be choosing the leader of the free world?

Thank you Jorge,

Vicente.

Meanwhile, across the border:
Mexican 'Coyotes' Operate in Plain Sight

Sidling up to migrants who arrive at the Tijuana airport and cruising the streets in border towns, "coyotes" in gold chains and dark sunglasses openly find customers for nightly scrambles across the U.S. border.

Mexico's president offered to crack down on smuggling at a recent summit with President Bush. But close to 100 smuggling gangs are still operating, government officials say, in plain sight of Mexican law enforcement.

"While drug smugglers are invisible for the most part, people smugglers are visible, working right in front of authorities," said Tijuana border expert Victor Clark, who has studied the illegal trade for decades.

FREEPER ACTIVISM

Government agencies and employers conspiring with illegal aliens to break our laws are themselves (1) lawbreakers, (2) violating their fiduciary duties, and (3) jeopardizing the financial interests of law-abiding Americans.

Example: banks are violating their fiduciary duties when they allow illegals to use phony documentation to obtain government-sponsored mortgages, and to open government-guaranteed accounts. Banks illegally using the sanctioning power of the FDIC are in legal jeopardy. This should be reported:

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is the primary federal regulator for national banks. The OCC's Customer Assistance Group is available to assist customers with questions or complaints concerning national banks. Email Customer.Assistance@occ.treas.gov.You can reach one of the OCC Customer Assistance Specialists by calling toll free number, 1-800-613-6743, Monday-Thursday, 9-4, and Friday 9-3.

FREEPER ACTIVISM

Publicly-held companies employing illegals, and financial institutions, and the like, that are in collusion with illegal aliens using fraudulent documentation, should be
reported: EMAIL enforcement@sec.gov

Instead of painting a couple walls at the local crappy school, how about paying your hospital bills, and paying back the money you suck out of the welfare system on your way to the back of the line.

That would be a nice start Senior Illegal Alien.

We need voter ID in every state or illegal aliens will be voting to force we taxpayer citizens to give and pay benefits for illegals. Secure borders and no harboring of illegals should be job one for the 2006 and 2008 elections.

If we citizens don't wake up we will have illegals eating us and terrorists killing us.

Anti-Americanism. They're trying to sell us out to Mexico because America will not vote for nor obey them.

This 56 year old man has seen some amazing degradation of America over the years. And I have said that it is increasing at a geometric rate.

Now with legalizing illegal immigrants and granting voting rights for illegals, my rants will be proven true.

IMO

In my state, there is no need to show proof of US citizenship to register to vote. All you have to do is sign a form claiming to be a US citizen.

Okay, I'm confused. You can't vote in this country unless you are a "LEGAL" citizen. What is the point of registering all of these illegals? THEY CAN'T VOTE, SO THEIR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT.
If they want to do it legally, they need to leave the country and enter legally.

We know you and we know who you are. You are Mexicans and you are illegal trespassers in our country. Now get the h*ll back across the border where you belong, stand in line and wait your turn.

It probably isn't. Most people will forget about that, especially after the MSM massages the stories of all the great community work they are doing and how valuable they are to our country, and how racist it is to have a negative opinion of them.

Remember that Congressman Dornan from California was unseated by a Democrat who got many illegal votes from non-US citizens?

Unfortunately, the House Republicans never voted to out illegally-elected Democratic Congresswoman.

I hate to think of the potential voter fraud for the upcoming elections.

Technically, to do volunteer, an immigrant needs to prove to Immigration they aren't taking paid work away from an American. They are again violating the law.

Go back to your own country and make repairs and paint. Then if you want to come back here apply for citizenship here and legally enter. Personally, I don't want anymore neon green and hot pink buildings here in the USA!

The left is hoping for a massive rerun.
If the Republicans were smart (humph! When hell freezes over!), they'd have all LEGAL registered voters already in a computer. Those who don't check out can be checked on. There's nothing wrong with validating votes. They don't have to be Republican or democrat - just legal voters.
