Those who disagree with the Bush administration's policies in Iraq face the same scornful charges that they are unpatriotic as Sen. John Kerry did 35 years ago when he spoke out against the Vietnam War, the Massachusetts Democrat said Saturday.
"I have come here today to reaffirm that it was right to dissent in 1971 from a war that was wrong. And to affirm that it is both a right and an obligation for Americans today to disagree with a president who is wrong, a policy that is wrong, and a war in Iraq that weakens the nation," Kerry said to a standing ovation Saturday at Boston's historic Faneuil Hall.

This is getting beyond ridiculous.

If he keeps talking like this, and he will, he won't make it through the Dem primaries for '08. Even Hillary out-hawks this feebleness.

How about negotiating with the enemy when still in the Navy..or belonging to an organization where discussions about assassinating Senators took place?..or comparing our troops to Genghis Khan?..What about the harm you did to soldiers still fighting in the war and prisoners hearing your words and being taunted?..or never releasing your full 180? Treasonous!

Supporting it is patriotic. Opposing it is patriotic. Being neutral is patriotic. Being uncertain is patriotic. Not giving a damn is patriotic. Hating the military is patriotic. Hating soldiers is patriotic. Wanting soldiers to die is patriotic. Hating the president is patriotic. Wanting us to lose to terrorists is patriotic. All points of view of any American (or illegal) on any topic are equal and are patriotic.
Don't you just love diversity?

You know, Kerry voted for the war. I heard a mess of Demorats talk about how Hussein was a threat. From Clinton to Kerry. Now, the going gets tough and Kohn Kerry buckles at the knees. Tough times never last, tough people do. Apparently, Kerry is a wimp. Don't stand between Kerry and a white flag, that is the only time he will fight like a dog.
Another thing, wasn't it over 60 percent of us who supported the war to begin with? Where is that support during tough times when it is needed most? I will not waver, falter, or fail. I support the war and our troops all the way to hell!

Opposing a war that you think is wrong BEFORE IT STARTS is patriotic.
Doing so afterwards can easily become downright seditious.
I love how these bimbos think that they can prance around claiming that they support the troops while at the same time undermining their mission. I'd love to just look them in the eye and simply say, "No, you don't." Just to see what kind of reaction would ensue.
To: johniegrad
>>"Opposing the war for moral, ethical, or religious reasons may be justifiable. Opposing the war for political opportunism is pathetic."<<
Exactly.
But even when believe a war is not wise or right it is still important to go about it in a way that considers the good of the country.
It was one thing to say "I believe the Vietnam war is wrong" and quite another to Hanoi and give comfort to the enemy as Jane Fonda did.

No, Mr. Kerry. Free speech is patriotic. Loving your country is patriotic. Hot dogs and apple pie are patriotic.
Opposing your country when troops are in battle is not patriotic at all. In fact, it borders on the criminal.
