Actually, you will be responsible for the 2006 elections. You and tons of folks like you.

Just like you, President Bush gets one vote.

You will be responsible for the Democrats taking over power.

More like the Republicans will have failed to maintain it.

The Republicans better give us someone to vote for then. I will not vote for anyone who supports amnesty in any form.

You had better come up with a new argument. That one will not work this year. How about Republicans listening to the people, who are not Republicans, who helped put them there. If ya'll lose it will be of you own making.

I am a conservative independent who has voted Republican out of choice, scare tactic politics will turn me off faster than anything.

Somewhere you got it in your mind that we had to vote Republican.

It's not just Bush, it is RINOs at large.  Pushing the party to the center is revolting to many.  Additionally, much of the nonsense going on in state houses are going to have implications at the federal level.  Reverse 'coattails' if you will.

Don't you think the response to Bill Clinton was the takeover of the house and senate ? The president's blindness to voters wishes isn't just his. If he has a plan it doesn't show, if the party has a plan I fail to see it. They all seem to think if they take enough punches the liberals will wear themselves out. It just looks like they're spineless trying to go whichever way the wind blows. I would say it looks like the chicken little media is winning hands down.

That sounds nice, but in practical terms we both know that's not true. The actions of the GOP politicians currently in power will energize - or deflate - the base. How the White House and Congress act will play a huge role in determining whether the GOP retains or loses power this fall.

LOL I nearly replied to the previous poster that there are those who will blame US instead of the President. I didn't have to wait long!
Sorry, that dog won't hunt. I'm not to blame for stupid things our govt does, and I could just as easily say that those who insist on voting Republican no matter what they do are responsible for illegal immigration.

No, the Republicans in the Congress, the Senate, and the White House will be responsible for the Democrats taking over Congress because the Republicans chose not to do their jobs. You can talk about how bad things will be under Democrat party rule, and certainly they will be. But both parties want to give the country away to the invaders. The Democrats won't listen/ Perhaps if the Republicans lose their majority and have to listen to Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid for two years, they'll get the message.

I'm tired of this "elect a Democrat" threat the RINOs always use. My vote is not an entitlement program!

Politicians rarely do things because “it's the right thing to do”. What many people don't realize, is that getting politicians to do what they want is a negotiation process. And anybody that is a successful negotiator will tell you, the first rule of negotiation is to make the other side think, that there's a point where you're willing to walk away...

You didn't get the memo about not using the "browbeat the base into voting for liberal-lite" strategy anymore, did you.

I haven't had my required dose of caffeine this morning, but let me try and understand the logic of the above:
When the electorate decides not to support a politician with their vote, because said politican not only fails to represent them in government, but actually acts against them , and aids/rewards illegal activity--it is the electorate's fault for deciding not to support said politician, rather than the actions of said politician.

Or, to use a recent example from Illinois: It wasn't George Ryan's (Republican) corruption that resulted in voters deciding not to support him (thus getting Rod Blago), but the fault of the voters recoiling at Ryan's corrupt activities ( Ryan was found guilty on all counts recently, BTW ).

Pardon me, but that reasoning is, IMHO, insane.

You are wrong. It is the party voted in that has the responsibility to maintain power by how they govern. It is they who work for us, not the other way around. Your way of thinking is the same as the liberal who blames America for 911. No, the American people are not to blame. Our leaders are.

That's like blaming the victim of a crime.

No, if the pubbies lose the majority in either or both houses, it will be their own fault. They're committing the first action. Conservatives will merely be reacting to their failure to protect this nation against foreign invasion.

The elected officials are supposed to be representing the will of their constituents. When they won't do that and act on their own self-interest, they are the ones responsible for their own demise.

Blame the base. Blame the base. Blame the base!

When are y'all gonna blame Bush for being friggin' stone tone deaf on this issue? Beside, he's isn't running for re-election this year - but Dana Rohrabacher is, and he is staying away. That ALONE should tell you something there, and where the true concern is about keeping the GOP in power.

Nah, blame the base! Blame the base! Blame the Ba-a-a-a-aseee!
