"If in fact the family has no computer, it's hard to see how they could do it."

They could go to the library and access a computer or a friends house. Some coffee shops and bars have internet access as well. I'm curious what evidence they have.

"mom had thrown ALL my records away"

When we were little my brother decided dad's lp's were too dusty and cleaned them with a SOS pad.

Maybe you, but not me. LOL
I'm still spinnin' vinyl and listening to pre-Rhodesian boycott speakers.

No doubt this family will find a lawyer who will make sure they come out of this rather wealthy.

Guess you could say I'm a fan...

Would that be Chinese or ceiling?

"However, the RIAA’s lawsuit maintains that Carma Walls, through the use of a file-sharing program, has infringed on the copyrights for the following songs: “Who Will Save Your Soul,” Jewel; “Far Behind,” Candlebox; “Still the Same,” Bob Seger; “I Won’t Forget You,” Poison; “Open Arms,” Journey; “Unpretty,” TLC; No Scrubs,” TLC; and “Saving All My Love for You,” Whitney Houston"

That playlist alone is worthy of some sort of sentence.

I am old enough to remember when "stereo" was something new! They put the voices on one side and music on the other.

Never heard of that...was that when records were 78's?

Isn't if funny to remember way back when, the music was so good and the technology didn't exist? Now, it's all backwards. I used to put a penny on the needle holder to play my battered old 45's but I had a peachy keen record box!

just deserts

Well, I'm sure justdeserts has a very "dry" sense of humor. I myself like very sweetdesserts.

You buy a cD...

See, now THERE'S your mistake.

With all of the online music services legally selling individual songs for 50 cents to a dollar each, why would you go out and buy a whole CD unless you already knew that you liked all or most of the tracks on it? It makes no sense to do that anymore.
