Mary McCarthy CIA Leak Scandal: Give Back the Tainted Pulitzers
The National Ledger ^ | 4-23-06 | Cliff Kincaid

Posted on 04/23/2006 1:25:44 PM PDT by Coastal

It appears that one of the main sources of Washington Post reporter Dana Priest’s dubious November 2, 2005, story about CIA “secret prisons” abroad was CIA officer and former Clinton official Mary O. McCarthy, whose firing by the agency because of her leaks to Priest and other journalists has been making headlines.

She had been hired by Rand Beers of the Clinton National Security Council, who went on to serve as an adviser to the 2004 presidential campaign of Senator John Kerry. Mary O. McCarthy, identified as a “U.S. Government/analyst,” is listed in Federal Election Commission records as a financial contributor to both the Kerry presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee in 2004.

Giving Dana Priest a Pulitzer is like giving an SS Officer a marksmanship medal.

Pulitzers used to mean something. Just another casualty from our friendly neighborhood RATs.

I've come to think that perhaps RATS is now an acronym that stands for Revolutionary Anarchy Traitorous Scum

Good article; thanks for posting. I sent the WAPO an email on Friday night after this story broke, requesting that they fire Priest immediately. I'm sure it went right into their delete folder. What these people are doing is beyond shameful -- they are working so hard to undermine this country and give aide and comfort to our enemies, they should all be in jail. I agree with Bill Bennet on this one; lock them up, throw away the key.

The fact that the information was classified material and possibly not even true means nothing to McCarthy. The only thing she cares about is the award, not the integrity that the award should reflect.

So did I - though I just asked what they were planning on doing. Funny - no response yet.

Pulitzers, Peabodys, Nobels...all have been essentially debased by political correctness, commercialization, and a leftisit agenda. In a way, it's kind of fitting....worthless accolades for worthless professions.

Yes, I heard Charles Krauthammer is unsubscribing from the NYT and WaPo because it demeaned his award.

Joking....

It's still nothing compared to the Walter Duranty's Pulitzer for his cover-up of Stalin's massacres.

I would think McCarthy could be brought up on TREASON charges and executed or deported ( to Iraq) preferably .

Pulitzers used to mean something.

After learning how JFK got his I wonder if they ever had any real meaning.

Have any of the allegations in the story been proved to be true?

The Pulitzers have not meant anything for a long time. In 1932 Walter Duranty of the NY Times won one for reporting on Stalin's paradise in the USSR.

Duranty was proved to be a fraud long ago, yet the Times refuses to return the award.
