The Pulitzers have not meant anything for a long time. In 1932 Walter Duranty of the NY Times won one for reporting on Stalin's paradise in the USSR.
Duranty was proved to be a fraud long ago, yet the Times refuses to return the award.

Well that's a good point. But there wasn't much written or discussed about Duranty (at least as far as my little world knew) until recent years. That was probably the beginning of what is now a joke.
