Mary McCarthy was dismissed for leaking classified information about the CIAs secret overseas prisons to The Washington Post, several media organizations reported Saturday.
Sestak, who served as director for defense policy on Bill Clintons National Security Council, received two donations from McCarthy last month totaling $350. McCarthy also contributed $2,000 to Sen. John Kerrys 2004 presidential campaign.
Weldons campaign reiterated that Sestak accepted contributions from former Clinton National Security Adviser Samuel "Sandy" Berger and former CIA Director John Deutch -- both of whom have admitted to mishandling classified information.
"Where will this end?" asked Weldon campaign spokesman Michael Puppio. "Sestak and the Clinton people are attempting to infect Delaware County with these scandals."
Berger, who last month hosted a Washington fund-raiser for Sestak and contributed $1,000 to his campaign, pleaded guilty last year to a misdemeanor charge of removing and destroying classified material from the National Archives.
Deutch was pardoned by Clinton in 2001 for storing classified intelligence reports on personal computers linked to the Internet. He gave $500 to Sestaks campaign.
"The guy is in the campaign 2½ months and hes got contributors who are national criminals and the scandal is following him," Puppio said of Sestak. "Now," he added, "a fired CIA employee who may face criminal charges as a result of this also gave" to the Democrats campaign.
Sestak campaign spokeswoman Allison Price said Weldons "silly" attacks and "conspiracy theories" are signs that he is desperate to hold on to his seat.
"Joe is an extremely strong candidate. He was a three-star admiral. Of course Weldon is going to throw anything at the wall and see what sticks," she said.
Price said Sestak stands by his former colleagues in the Clinton administration and is proud of the work they accomplished in the 1990s. "These are people that know Joe and support Joe and know that he is capable," she said.
McCarthy, who was reportedly serving in the CIAs inspector generals office at the time of her firing, was appointed by Berger in 1998 as special assistant to the president and senior director for intelligence programs.
Weldon officials also suspect McCarthy leaked information to the media last year in an attempt to debunk the congressmans book, "Countdown to Terror," which is highly critical of the CIA. Weldon plans to call for a FBI investigation "to see what national security information she leaked and who she leaked it to," Puppio said.
Sestak entered the 7th District race in February and is widely regarded as the strongest Democratic challenger Weldon has ever faced.
In some previous elections, the 10-term Republican hasnt acknowledged his Democratic opponent. This year, however, his campaign has launched a full assault on Sestak, labeling him as a candidate who was "handpicked" by former Clinton officials to oust Weldon.
Sestak has previously told the Daily Times that no individual or organization asked him to run for Congress and that the decision was solely his own.
A new twist..
I wish Weldon and Tancredo would join forces and effect real change in Washington. These guys get it.
Funny how both Dana Priest AND Mary McCarthy have donated to Weldon's opponent, isn't it? I wonder if they both know how the floodgates will open soon on how disastrous the Clinton crowd actually was on National Security, if Weldon gets his way moving forward on Able Danger.
Conservative voters now have a Call-to-Arms: they must vote to deny the House & Senate to the Left. And Republican Politicians need to be put on notice: if you retain the government after November, you people better put the hammer down on these treasonous liberals.
Treason is what the Democrat Party is all about today.
Looks like the liberal MSM is going to try and brazen this one out by not reporting it or underreporting it.
Wait til Rush and the blogs really start digging.
Anybody remember the swiftboat charges the MSM also ducked? Let's see how this one comes out.
Mary's neighbors also were big Democrat contributors--

Per the FEC report, McCarthy donated to Sestak through ActBlue, a Democrat bundling Website. This was not a donation of a friend to a friend - McCarthy had to have been involved with some Democrat operatives or involved with Kos or some other lefty website to have known about ActBlue. ActBlue has raised over $75,000 for Sestak. Perhaps McCarthy mistakenly thought her name would not be listed if she donated through ActBlue.
Its a conspiracy!
Ping -- examine the diagram of connections
Great graphic showing the conspiracy...I might suggest one more category of links...Kerry Campaign involvement/job promises.
I believe slimey Joe and the Sandburgler were promised jobs in a Kerry administration. It wouldn't surprise me at all if McCarthy was also.
Good luck--treason has become one of those quaint crimes that isn't prosecuted anymore, like cursing on Sunday.
It's not too new. Berger and some of the other NSC types have been plugging Sestak. He was recruited to take on Weldon. The Clintonistas probably have reason to fear Able Danger, and would like to be done with it.
The Clinton myth, carefully nurtured and perpetuated by Clarke, Berger, McCarthy, etc., was that the Clintonite clowns were doing a great job fighting terrorism until Bush came along. Able Danger is evidence they weren't doing a great job.
The draft Zinni site has a profile of its left wing rats with military service in elections this year, listed as Security Democrats Running For Senate/Congress.

Goss hits the motherload... is the Justice Department still on Easter vacation?
"Funny how both Dana Priest AND Mary McCarthy have donated to Weldon's opponent"
Dana Priest contributed? And we wonder why we don't get objective reporting? Priest would like to see the Able Danger story killed, too. Such is the state of the news media. Politics first, journalism second.
McCarthy appears to have been in good position to be named CIA Director or National Intelligence Director in a Kerry Administration. Gotta promote those women, you know. Probably a Hillary-feminist type, as is her pal Dana Priest. The question is how and why they got her into the IG office at CIA. To bury stuff on the Clintons, and/or leak stuff on Bush?
That's right jellybean...
Here is a really incredible site:

Go down their veteran candidate names in their left hand column. It is really hard to find an American Flag with any of these wonderful vets.
You are welcome..

All the other names should be clickable. Think it could be this Mary McCarthy?

The fundamental fallacy of McCain-Feingold is that it is based on the premise that there is a difference between "journalism" and "politics." That is the claim of the journalist but it is - at best - a fact not in evidence.
Rush called it today. He said, "dims are the Culture of Treason"!

Yeah, you can tell Rush has been lurking here again!
RELEASE THE BARRETT REPORT. We paid for it, we want to see it, as well as ALL the info on Able Danger!
Sounds like a typical Democrat plan!

..The source of the chart.
I learned from my Grandfather while growing up to view the word progressive as a lie or label for communists.
So: ""progressive national security interests"???? The irony of it---and a contradiction in terms!" is right on target.
This seems like as good a time as any to remind people of something I've been posting for a long time. After 9/11 Dems were frustrated at not feeling like they could attack the president in time of war...despite their knee-jerk anti-war disposition. The public wouldn't stand for it. I believe they came up with an answer: have foreign governments do it for them.
In 2003 top tier Dems met with their counterparts in European Labour parties in what they called a new alliance. Soon after, they started using the ubiquitous theme: "Bush has squandered the goodwill from 9/11 and made us unpopular with former allies". And those allies helpfully attacked whatever Bush was doing at the time. Think about it: did you ever hear a single Dem criticize those allies for failing to support us? (No, of course not.)
I'll link the article below. It describes a conference with Hillary, Biden, and Dem consultants Ron Klain and Stan Greenburg (no bit players, these). I believe the Dems ENCOURAGED allies NOT to cooperate...in fact to actively oppose U.S. policies. I believe they coordinated the anti-American furor in Europe. John Kerry almost blew it when he said he had "the support of foreign leaders". And who came out to repair the damage? Joe Biden.
Here's the article. I've never seen another reference to this alliance. It would be a great investigative reporting subject. Save it and remember what the traitors have been up to. Especially note the term: "Political Globalization"...a reference to the no-borders crowd?

If Republicans had a lick of sense they would ask this each time the Dems whine about "the public's right to know". Watch them squirm as they explain why the public just doesn't have the right to know that!
That network of connections is interesting. Clintonistas in the CIA are undermining the Bush administration.
