Neil Youngs new album, Living with War, is an incendiary, moving, totally American document of peaceful protest that is going to make a lot of people crazy one way or another.
And theres no doubt that the centerpiece of the album, a song called Lets Impeach The President, performed as a melodic, rocking, campfire ode will be what causes the most controversy.
{snip}
Here, for the first time, the lyrics to Neil Youngs Lets Impeach the President:
Lets impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
Hes the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war

It's more likely to do what nearly every one of his albums since Rust Never Sleeps (1978) has done -- yawn.
He probably wrote this to get a gig on the Chris Matthews Hardball show.
Dang, thats good. He's writing about the nineties, right?

NEIL YOUNG LYRICS
"Let's Roll"
I know I said I love you,
I know you know it's true,
I've got to put the phone down,
and do what we got to do.
One's standing in the iselway,
Two more at the door,
We've got to get inside there,
Before they kill somemore.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
No time for indecision,
We've got to make a move,
I hope that were foregiven,
For what we got to
How this all got started,
I'll never understand,
I hope someone can fly this thing,
And get us back to land.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
No one has the answer,
But one thing is true,
You've got to turn on evil,
When it's coming after you,
You've gota face it down,
And when it tries to hide,
You've gota go in after it,
And never be denied,
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Let's roll for freedome,
Let's roll for love,
We're going after satan,
On the wings of a dove,
Let's roll for justice,
Let's roll for truth,
Let's not let our children,
Grow up fearfull in there youth.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
What's this Canadian mean by "our country"?
The Needle and the Damage Done.
Make us yawn, that is.

I thought Neil Young was Canadian?
I'm going to miss Neil. He was such a good musician.
Who Cares . . . ?
The most overrated musician ever. Our cover band plays his song "Down By the River" and our version is a LOT better.
His best work was with Crosby, Stills and Nash.
It looks like Neil just copy and pasted a thread from DU, and made them his lyrics.
The sad thing is mis-informed people will take his new song as gospel.
This is too bad. I spent most of my teenage years drunk and listening to/playing Neil Young songs. Even Greendale is fantastic despite its leftist agenda. this however is absurd.
I wonder if he'd record a retraction song if we ever found the WMD that were moved out of Iraq (to Syria, most likely) while we were messing around for months with the UN? I'd hope so. ....but doubt it.
That, and hanging out in downtown Santa Cruz with some really sleazy old hippie chicks...
His brain's like a hurricane,
he wants to think but it's getting blown away
...at The Catalyst.
Oh brother!
Neil sucks. He used to rock until his communist politics overshadowed his music. I still have a Crazy Horse tape. Maybe I should burn it on May Day.
Good question. And this is beyond preposterous:
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our governments protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
How can he blame the President or FEMA for the
malfeasance of Louisiana's Governor and New Orleans' Mayor?
Did he not see the mayor had buses lined up row by row,
drowning, because he refused to say "Let's Roll"?
Does he forget the Governor had the Guard at their barracks,
waiting, because she refused to tell them "Let's Roll"?
He's an old hippie and he don't know what to do Should he hang on to the old Should he grab on to the new He's an old hippie...his new life is just a bust He ain't trying to change nobody He's just trying real hard to adjust
I used to like Neil. I have even defended him here on FR.
Now, I just think he's a tool.
He's a whore. He's going where he sees the money.
Give it up you friggin dope addict.
"Southern man don't need him around, anyway".
this Canadian sees too many "whippen posts" when he is "riding his Horse (H) with no name!
guess everyone missed this classic:

h00b0y!
Is he still a canadian citizen?
I saw him a few times in the early 70's. A very talented musician at the time. I, on the other hand, though bereft of musical talent, still have my brain and cognitive reasoning ability. Which puts me way ahead of old Neil.
Muleteam1
A rock musician with leftist political leanings......how unusual, how daring, how totally cutting edge. Sort of like a donut with a hole in the middle.
Go gargle with Drano, Neil.
What if you knew Kurds
Were buried in mass graves in the ground
How can you run when you know?
I was thinking about that song just the other day, and how I was about 24 when I first heard it, but now I am the old man. How did that happen so fast? Still, I was never anything like he was, or is.
"...and hanging out in downtown Santa Cruz with some really sleazy old hippie chicks...
...at The Catalyst."
Hey, Dana Priest went to UC-Santa Cruz! Watch it! ;)
Why is he mad at Bill Clinton?
Or, the Henry Mello Center. How about the Windjammer?
Man, what a dive...
His lyrics have gotten to become ridiculous childish tripe.
It sounds like a poem some high school drop out tree hugging moron would write.
oh wait...
Four Planes Coming
W/o apology to Neil Young (Four dead in Ohio)
Four planes with ragheads coming
They've finally met their call
That morning we heard them coming
Thousands died in the fall
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers can save us all
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And all that she had done
How can they claim, they did not know?
Osama and Saddam were coming
Salmon Pak was their home
In Sudan they heard the drumming,
but no one picked up the phone.
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers can save us all
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And all that she had done
How can they claim, they did not know?
