SEND THE "GUEST-WORKERS" HOME (Before they morph into "Guest-Voters!"

Well, the U.S. Congress has been given plenty of time to work on addressing our illegal immigration problem. Commentators across the country have provided lots of thoughts on the issue, including lots of ideas on how to address the problem.

You would think that our elected representatives would listen to the people (meaning the citizens, not the law-breaking illegals), thoughtfully consider all the polls, review the studies on the economic impact (good and bad) of the huge illegal influx, think back on their oaths of office and what is expected of them by the citizens that vote, and come to a reasonable decision as to what they should do. If only that were the case. Instead of thoughtful analysis and decisive action, what we are getting is the same old political B.S. that perpetuates the problem, shoving it down the line for later generations to reap the repercussions of Congress’s failure to act. Of course, this could apply to so many things, such as Social Security, our national debt, the screwed up tax system we have, and a host of other things Congress has allowed to grow from a molehill into a mountain.

My gut feeling on the whole illegal immigration issue is that the Senate will pass some kind of amnesty deal (and yes, it will be amnesty no matter what they call it), and when the Senate gets with the House to hash out a compromise bill we will be left with a sure-deal amnesty and a never-to-be-followed-through-with stricter enforcement of our borders, immigration laws, and bans on hiring illegals. In other words, I believe the citizens of this country are about to be screwed again.

Members of Congress collect six-figure incomes, along with a host of perks they’ve voted in for themselves, not to mention all the goodies that lobbyists shower them with. And let’s not forget the ‘wonderful’ pension plan they’ve established for themselves, which no company wishing to stay afloat could possibly match. These scoundrels take our money and appear to do nothing more than kick dirt in our faces. Criminal aliens march up and down our streets en mass and face no repercussions, but if you voice your disapproval of government actions concerning the encroachment on your rights, or balk at paying the excessive taxes that are wasted and misused by the government (not to mention is used to finance the lifestyles of illegals and members of Congress), you can expect a quick reaction by federal law enforcement. You’ll find yourself having your phone lines tapped, your patriotism questioned, and you can expect the IRS to pay you a visit.

The soft-peddling of the illegal immigration issue by Congress has been going on so long that the illegals have now grown to such numbers they have no fear of attempting to publicly bully and intimidate our government. And the sad fact is that it is working. No real enforcement of our laws against illegal immigration, or the employers that help perpetuate the problem, is going to be forthcoming.

The illegal immigrant issue is a serious problem that is the primary concern for the voters this election cycle. My e-mail in box has been flooded with people commenting on my recent articles concerning immigration. Only one has been negative concerning my remarks, and most of them ask, “What can we do?” I’ve given this some thought, and short of some kind of out-right revolt or violent action, people need to use the power they have on hand. This means letting your representatives hear from you. It also means rather than being so disgusted that you skip voting, that you actually make a concerted effort to vote. That’s right, don’t stay home to ‘punish’ our treacherous officials, but hit them where they live, right in the ballot box. Not voting is being silent, and ‘silence is consent.’ Not voting is allowing others to determine your future.

If Congress is going to gloss over the illegal alien problem by waving the federal magic wand and declaring all illegals ‘guest-workers,’ then they need to feel some serious pain. Let’s remind members of Congress that they are the original ‘guest-workers.’ The founders envisioned our different levels of government being run by citizen-legislators, not professional political hacks. Elected representatives are nothing more than ‘guest-workers’ of the citizens, and shouldn’t make public office a career.

Whether it’s at the local, county, state or federal level, all voters should investigate the views of politicians running for office and see where they stand on immigration issues and the enforcement of our laws. Do not vote for incumbents that support illegal aliens and stand against the rights of citizens and the enforcement of our laws. Don’t even bother voting for establishment party types if they refuse to clearly state their position on immigration. Don’t simply vote for the candidate of the opposition major party (as the two major parties really have the same agenda), as if that’s teaching the incumbent a lesson.

Let the politicians hear from you, and let them know you are watching and you will definitely cast your vote based on their position and actions concerning illegal immigration and law enforcement. Let’s send our elected ‘guest-workers’ packing and get some real patriots in office who understand their oaths of office and who they work for: the law-abiding citizens of this country, not the employers complicit in enticing illegals to come here, or the people who break our laws to come here. Seriously consider third-party candidates and political outsiders. We need some outsiders to shake things up in public office.

Yes. A normal American would think that the vacillating simpletons we keep sending to Washington wouold listen to us.

Some are, no doubt, working overtime to figure a way to circumvent the election process in order that they not have to subject themselves to the torture every 2 or 6 years.

I would like to see the election of senators be returned to their respective state legislatures where there is a chance that their careers would be much shorter lived.

Perhaps it's time American citizens do the jobs that the Federal Government won't do! Time to outsource the governments jobs to the citzenry. Build a fence, even if it's just razor wire and ditches. Kick out illegals, should be easy there the ones marching for their supposed "rights" in a country the don't belong in. Perhaps if we took things in our own hands and took care of some of our own problems people would see that we don't need a huge bloated Government to solve all our problems. Then we souldn't have to pay for Government we don't need or want. Start with the Pork projects politicians love so much, and why not it's your money paying for bridges and buildings and such to keep these people in congress. Then how about downsizing the ATF and DEA and merging them into one agency. Sorry to rant just kind of angry this morning; stupid local news has done just about every segment this morning on gas prices every one they spoke to said about the same thing Greedy Corporations and Bush are at fault. I thought my local news was pretty good until about 2 years ago got new ownership and suddenly every story has a horrible left slant.

I dont buy this baloney from the pro-illegal immigrant crowd, who claim it would be too difficult to deport 12-20 million aliens.

After all, most of these illegals had the drive and the creative where-with-all to pick up their lives and trek the desert into America, often under adverse conditions.

They should certainly have the same creative where-with-all to move back to their home country.

In fact it should be easier due to their years of working and making $$ in the US.

Guest-Voters have been a problem for California elections(and a bonus for Democrats) for many years now !

They helped to get Boxer and Feinstein elected to the Senate !

Governor Jerry Brown got rid of a law back in the last years of his governorship of California, that would have stricken these illegal alien voters off the ballots !

This is the direct planned result of the immigration policies first initiated by Ted Kennedy in 1965 !

The Liberal Democrats have not been reinventing themselves, they have been reinventing the American Electorate - - that is how these Libs and Dems have engineered their 'Dissolving Away of the White Majority'

In the future, as went California, so will go the rest of the U.S. - - -

The Left-wing Democrats will eventually take over the entire UNION .
As these Third Worlders become the New Majority in OUR COUNTRY, it won't be our land anymore !

Our Nation will be Their Land - Our Future will be Their Time ! ! !

Let's build two fences. One to prevent Mexico's scum from sneaking into our country and the other around congress to keep those weasels from sneaking back into their temples to continue their evil legislation against America!

I don't buy their story either. The Federal Government has developed a new ID that can't be tampered with in any way other than destroying them. If they give these alleged "guest workers" IDS made the same way and then enforced the use of these IDS this would weed out the Illegals.

It is very very simple. They are making excuses that do not hold water so to speak. Thanks

You have some great ideas there, but we also need to address Federal entitlements, which shockingly, comprise half of the Federal budget.

But you're right. The sad truth is the Republicans won't do it; the Democrats certainly won't do it. It's up to We, the People.

First of all they are NOT "guests" which would imply taht they are invited and or welcomed, which neither is true.

They are illegal alien lawbreakers who know that our laws don't apply to them!

Deport all of them!!

I have a problem with the solution proposed by the author.

Rarely does an election have a VIABLE 3rd party candidate on the ballot. Ross Perot or Ralph Nader? NOT!

Regarding the immigration issue, I think we should tell ALL our Congressmen & Senators that if the borders are not secured & the illegals sent home, we, the voters, will not vote for ANY of them, regardless of their "stance" on the issue.

Put them ALL in a leaky boat, & tell them to ALL bail or drown together.

As for the long term problem of having to vote for a bad candidate vs voting for a really bad candidate, here's my solution.

On the election ballot, for every contested office listed, the option to select "None of the above" will be included. If NOTA wins the election, the incumbent is out & the office is vacant until it is filled in another election, in which the previous candidates are NOT allowed to run.

NOTA will flush out lifetime pols who feed at the gov't trough, & give Americans a real choice at the ballot box, while ending the political polarization in our country. I suspect the number of voters will increase dramatically, as will the numbers of office holders who "say what they mean, & mean what they say".

Imagine if there had been a better choice in Ford/Carter or Clinton/Dole - None of the above!

Now, imagine the current crop of '08 contenders, then add NOTA, & take a poll. My guess is that NOTA would have big numbers, & might embarrass some into going home where they belong.

Comments please!

I like the idea of NOTA.

Long since time we had that. These maggot lawyers posing as leaders need to all be sent back home to face the ire of the people who elected them.

None of the Above is an idea who's time has come.

This is why I want enforcement first - years before amnesty if there's gonna be amnesty and I don't even want that.

And now, with the help of msm lackeys, they are trying to take the heat off the illegal situation by focusing our attention on gas prices.

That ain't working here - unlike congress, I can handle two issues at once. Although with their track record, I would rather NO action on these two issues than something they will come up with.
