since she's being buried next to him

How can that be? Doesn't his other wife hate Liz?

I've never been an Taylor fan- and I don't know if I would ever call her a class act.

You think Angelina and Brad are big in the tabloids? What Taylor is remembered for is stealing Eddie Fisher - who was Debbie Reynolds husband - her best friend. Debbie and Eddie went out of their way to comfort Liz after the death of her husband. She soon learned no good deed goes unpunished.

Debbie had two little kids and it devastated her and the family. Liz dumped him a year later. Carrie Fisher ended up with drug problems and mental illness. Bipolar has a strong correlation with losing your father at a young age.

Liz was once one of the most hated women in America. When she practically died of pneumonia, people felt sorry for her and forgot how they hated her. But she was a true homewrecker, and Eddie Fisher was a creep too.

That's a beautiful photo of her. Judging by the hair and dress styles, it was probably snapped sometime in the early 1950's.

She wants to be bured next to Richard Burton. I thought she claimed that Mike Todd was the love of her life, but admittedly, I quit following her career years ago.

Dunno, I'm just an instant expert from reading the story:

"...She is expected to be buried next to former husband Richard Burton in Switzerland. ..."

His fifth marriage was to Sally Hay, a make-up artist who later became a successful novelist. While married to Sally, he died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home in Switzerland, where he is buried.

Wife #1 (Cybil) hated Liz; wife #3 let Liz attend Burton's funeral. Maybe wife#3 has remarried and gave her plot to Liz?

SQUABBLE OVER BURTON BURIAL PLOT

RICHARD BURTON's final resting place is still causing friction between those who loved him most - 20 years after his death.
The Welsh OSCAR-winner's body currently resides in Celigny, Switzerland, the Alpine retreat where he died in 1984. He was laid to rest there by his last wife SALLY BURTON in a move which still angers his family and former wife DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR.
CLEOPATRA actress Taylor, who was married to Burton on two separate occasions, wants to have Burton's body exhumed and re-buried in a plot in Pontrhydyfen, Wales, which the couple purchased during their first marriage. Burton's parents are buried in the same cemetery.
Burton's niece, actress SIAN OWEN, says, "The plots are still there and if Liz wants to rest there then she can. We would love to see his remains brought home to Pontrhydyfen.
"But Sally has overall control of the body, not us. He told me it was where he wanted to be buried." In a further jibe aimed at Sally, Owen says of Taylor, "She was always the love of his life. Even when he was married to other women he phoned her every day without fail."

Sounds like a person with too much time left. Maybe a farewell fragrance tour will be part of the pre-funeral.

My rather compulsive mother-in-law's been planning her death for probably 30 years. Her laywer must love her, as she revises her will monthly. She's got it all worked, burial and all.

She was astoundingly beautiful in her youth--National Velvet being the start of a beautiful friendship with the camera.

I found Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf an absolute hoot--"What a dump." Burton Chamberlain Dennis but she carried it.

She has done nothing half-way and hasn't anything of the truly hateful Hollywood in her, a la the George Clooney-tune bad taste attack on one's betters.

She might of course decide to continue living but the chf gives her the option to leave the stage.

I remember a story from early in her career, around the time she was 16 or 17. She didn't know how to swim, and she had a role coming that required her to do so. So, the studio brought in Esther Williams (the famous 'swimming actress') to teach her how. She took one look at young Ms. Taylor's chest, and said "With pontoons like those, you oughta be able to float!"

Elizabeth looked like she was 25 when she was 15. It was a real problem with directors.

The most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Oops, my wife has some incredible eyes.......... Scarlet's in 'Gone With The Wind'.

James Dean stole every scene he was in though. I always think of "Giant" as a James Dean film, not a Rock Hudson or Elizableth Taylor film.

Wow, you're exactly right. Beautiful stars from back in the day were really beautiful stars. Today its about the silicone and the scalpel.

If you're familiar with the expression "fell down drunk," I think you'd find your answer. Poor woman had a few addictions, which probably also had a hand in the divorces.

I've never been a fan of James Dean. The mumblin' stumblin' type never appealed to me. Giant verges on the soap opera, but it's still a great film. It's actually kind of groundbreaking in it's dealing with racial issues. Based on a book if I recall.

Actually Burton, George Segal, and Sandy Dennis. Liz was great, but Burton was robbed of an Oscar. He was magnificent in that film.

Only a woman would enjoy Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf. ----------------------------------------------------- Why? That's a phenomenal play/film. One of the best American films of the mid 1960s.

If you like little girls.

Like someone said above,
today's 'beauties' are all girls,
with unrealistic body types.

There isn't a woman amoungst them.

A tough call. I'd say Liz was more beautiful in a sexy way. Audrey had more class than just good looks. She just looked like someone you would love to spend time with - not 'sexy', but delightful. She was also one of the few actresses that aged beautifully - maybe because acting and publicity WASN'T her life.

Both were remarkable women. While Liz has more than her fair share of faults, she also seems to be very honest and (for a woman many times married) very loyal.

By the way - if you do an image search on yahoo for Audrey Hepburn now, you get a large mix of the carnivorous-looking Love-Hewitt dressed as Audrey. Frightening!
