In a just concluded debate and press conference, author and FBI Consultant Paul Williams and Jeff Epstein of "America's Truth Forum" reveal they have been advised by Pakistani journalist and Bin Laden biographer Hamid Amir that Al-Qaeda will use smuggled nukes against the US if the US takes military action against Iran.

Amir established his credentials by correctly predicting that Egypt would be hit by terrorist action a full two weeks prior to the events of last week. Amir, a Pakistani journalist, has been in contact with high ranking Al-Qaeda officials for several years.

If Al Qaeda does use nukes, what would our excuse be for nuking Iran, Mecca or Damascus? The best we could do is nuke what we think is Al Qaeda's hideout...which is in Pakistan.

If we get it, we won't be able to do a damn thing that we haven't done already.

Nuke goes off in NY, or Dallas or New Orleans, etc., and I guarantee you that there will be nuclear retaliation against any identified source within 90 minutes, max.

Nuke goes off in such a way as to take out the President or any significant portion of our government and there will be a general bombardment of that entire region.

Nuke goes off anywhere on the planet and marshal law will be declared, all potential enemies will be warned to not approach our assets anywhere in any way, shape or form, and no ship, plane or any other form of transportation will be allowed within 50 miles of our borders.

Oh, and troops will be deployed with shoot to kill orders at all borders and ports.

You can say that again! This is why security needs to be made paramount (and I don't mean wanding old ladies at the airport), otherwise the GOP risks going the way of the Whigs should a terrorist bring in a nuke (it wouldn't matter BTW if it came via our border with Canada, with Mexico, or through shipping ports).

They also may be looking for a "connecting event" in the Middle East. In other words, this sort of thing may be sprung on the U.S. at the same time that several countries invade Israel. It might be designed to keep the "enemy" (in their eyes) busy at home, while they do the "elimination of Israel" thing that they are so intent on doing.

Why is that a valid argument. The "if they had nukes" why wouldn't they use them" is crazy! P. Williams shot that argument down. It is all about planning, coordination, and getting them in the country.

Also thy have to follow Sahria Law. Thy must get essentially the "blessing" or the go ahead from a cleric or a number of clerics to OK the slaughter of innocent, non-combatives. They also must allow for a truce or submission. If this is ignored or refused the attitude is "well we covered all of our bases. The West has no one to blame but themselves." Kind of like the last few tapes that were out.

The people in charge are not stupid-yeah, real fun to poke fun at-but not stupid and very, very fanatically religious. Not a great mix.

The "would have used them if they got them" is wishful thinking, head in the sand approach. They play by a warped, disgusting set of rules...and it seems like those have been met. If I hear the admin say "we have them on the run" one more time when a tape is released...!

I think our guys know much more and are trying not to panic the country and the markets.

Believe me, I've noticed. Everything is a confrontation to these guys. They think that everyone around them is trying to one-up them.

I guess 1200 years of little accomplishment as compared to the rest of the world makes them a bit insecure and thin-skinned. IMHO that's why they hate Israel so much. It's a daily, in-you-face reminder that the Israelis accomplished in 30 or 40 years what the Muzzies haven't been able to in 1200. Hence the need to puff themselves up by loosing empty threats at everyone.

Many I had met at college were here because they have way more money than manners or brains, and were pretty snooty about it. They sure did like the strip clubs, though.

I still don't see (when people mention this option) what kind of deterrence that has. Most of the people in those places you mentioned have no ideas what is going on. They are not involved in operations. They don't fight in the wars and so on. They couldn't stop a single terrorist operation if they tried. So, I fail to understand what they have to do with it.

Any deterrent affect would be minimal.  MAD depended on the Soviets being basically rational.  The leadership of the hard line countries and their so called freelance allies aren't rational.  However, it might give some of them pause, particularly the possibility of the holy sites being destroyed.

However, I'm not interested in deterrence, if this were to happen.  This is a declaration of principle to the whole world so that they will understand what we do when we do it, under those specific set of circumstances.  I'm not arguing for "deterring" anything after they've used nukes.  I'm eliminating all possibility of anyone from there ever having the capability of setting it up again.  If they're all dead, innocent and guilty, then there's no one left to make it happen.

That act might then have a deterrent affect on any remaining rational actors elsewhere.
