Big Phonies: Oprah, Angelina & George (Clooney) "Discover" Sudan

By Debbie Schlussel April 27, 2006

Years ago, I wrote about Oprah Winfrey's refusal to do anything about what is happening in Sudan.

Well, yesterday, she finally did--along with her friends, renowned African scholars and foreign policy experts Angelina Jolie and George Clooney.

But it is too little, too late. And their timing is by design. It fits in well with their political agenda. You see, now there are no Christians left in Arab Muslim Sudan. They've all been mass murdered (after torture, gang rape, and forced conversion to Islam). So, now, it is finally okay for these vapid celebs to display their phony concern.

On yesterday's edition of "Oprah," movie star George Clooney and his father did a little segment about their visit to Sudan. Clooney reported that since the Arab Muslim government doesn't consider Blacks real Muslims, they have been fighting and killing Black Muslims.

This deserves it's own thread, IMO, even though I posted a link in another thread vis a vis Sudan and Clooney. I hope everyone will read Debbie's right-on slam on these phoney, johnny-come-lately preening hypocrites.

The United States will never do anything about the Sudan.

1. Democrats will do nothing because the main victims are Christians/other non-Muslims and the main aggressors are Muslim Arabs. They just don’t have a dog in this fight.

2. Republicans will do nothing militarily because of the drubbing they are now taking from the press and Democrats for the freeing of 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan from absolute tyranny. They can hear it now “Republicans got us involved in Darfur only for politics” or “Republicans lied and now soldiers died for oil in the Sudan.” Enough, they can only take so much. There is no way they are adding this to their plate.

Maybe you need to ask yourself: What would you have done 60 years ago if you seen 11 million children, women, men - Jews and others - being herded into Hitler's concentration camps or fed into his ovens?

I am sure we would all answer with self inflating platitudes of intervening, helping the victims – doing something noble and brave.

But in reality, we would have done nothing if in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s we had the same political situation as we have today.

Yep, now that have crossed the line. Killing white christians was acceptable, but black muslims is horrendous.

I hate the Left-leaning "celebrities". What damn good are they? None. These fools missed Afghanistan years ago too when the Taliban was abusing women.

Amen. I find it difficult to wish these folks well, considering they didn't give a rat's patootie when it was the Christians, primarily, being slaughtered.

Bunch of self-righteous hypocrites IMHO.

Sad, really - human life is only valuable if it's their pet cause of the hour-Not elderly, not aborted babies, and most emphatically, not Christians.

And Debbie is dead on slamming A. Jolie. I'm sick of people giving her a pass because she considered attractive. She's a vapid, air-headed rich girl, who has just "discovered" the world. Sorry, she gets no sympathy from me. Poverty and war have been a part of the world since history began; How the hell did they miss that? Too busy partying and drinking and sexing?

Forgot to add that I just wish Debbie Schlussel were interviewing Clooney instead of that wimp ShepSmith. If he does his usual, how nice to see you, blah, blah, blah, and let Clooney off the hook, I'll puke!

You notice that Cooney is going on Fox's LEAST objectionable show [from Clooney's POV anyway]. I just hope that he would have the nerve to go on O'Reilly who could confront him with Debbie's column.

So, rescuing the Sudanese is ok, but rescuing the Iraqis wasn't? Why should President Bush pay ANY attention to these loonies? He already is working on it, as he said in his press conference this morning.

I am listening to this stupid interview right now.

Did Clooney mention Sudan is on the UN Commission on Human Rights?

I just saw that disgusting George Clooney on FNC - Shepherd Smith's show. Man. He is so full of phony baloney - he sickens me. Not once did the words Islam or Muslim pass his lips. It's like - what muslims? It's all about the gen-o-cide. He spends seven hours in a plane over the Sudan and all of a sudden he's an expert. Forget Baghdad Bob. Not we've got Genocide George. Feh.

And isn't it funny how OBL mentioned taking AL Qaeda's act on the road to the Sudan in his latest and then, boom - here comes George - talking about Sudan.

Once again liberal dem talking points mirror those of AQ. What a coinky-dink.

I heard Jolie tell an interviewer the other day that Britain spends three times more in charitable giving that the US. I'm assuming that is a humungous lie and naturally the interviewer didn't challenge her.

I missed the interview but hubby saw it and said Clooney mentioned that France was blocking some vote to help these people, and he couldn't understand why. Get a clue Clooney. France is out for FRANCE!

You forgot to mention that she is also a marriage- wrecker. I've had it with Hollywood leftists who pretend to care, so they can think they're better than us.

She may be a smart and hot-looking conservative and all, but I don't trust Debbie Schlussel. I don't trust anyone who doesn't like cats. :-o
