Reports Stating Rush Limbaugh Was Arrested Are Inaccurate; Limbaugh's Attorney Holds Press Conference at 8:00 pm Tonight
Friday April 28, 7:55 pm ET

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A spokesman for Rush Limbaugh said some news reports that state Mr. Limbaugh was arrested are inaccurate.

Separately, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black will hold a press conference at 8:00 pm this evening at the Marriott Hotel at 1001 Okeechobbee Road in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mr. Black will discuss the agreement reached today with the State Attorney's Office whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping that was filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months.

As previously announced, a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

Mr. Black stated, "Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during the 18 month period, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won," he said.

Just saw this on ABC (BBC) news in London, right after reading about the settlement.
The reporters seemed positively offended by his actions. Brian Shaw (maybe) and some brunette news reader.

Bill O'Reilly just said: "rush arrested" details coming up next. Even FNC won't report it correctly. Rush is right, drive-by media. I hope he trashes his good friend Wolfie on his show on Monday. He has stood up for him recently, but that should be over by now. We can never trust media to get the story straight -- they just go into a media frenzy immediately.

It's essentially a plea bargain. There was probably an arrest or booking in the technical sense, just in order to get the process started. I doubt there was even a mugshot. The charges will be entirely dismissed.

Rush paid them $30 grand to make them go away. It gives the prosecutor some minor sense of victory, but it keeps Rush's record clean.

He paid Black far more than $30 grand, so it's not as if Rush came out of this with no real harm.

It was a senseless political prosecution. I'm glad it's over.

Sounds like they were wishing it to be true so much that they believed it must have happened just because they wanted it to.

A perfect description of the immature, undereducated, completely irrelevant members of the MSM.

You mean Rush is going to get off? No jail? The crying and lamenting from the left will be most... rewarding to see. :)

That's what I was thinking. The DUmmies will be deeply saddened that there's no speedy trip to the electric chair.

Can't have it both ways. Either he was arrested or he wasn't. Someone give us a definition of " arrested"!

Drive By Media wrong again....

Drive-By Media Explained, Illustrated in Duke Case Along with Prosecutorial Abuse
Rush Limbaugh ^ | April 12, 2006
Posted on 04/12/2006 3:52:03 PM PDT by Conservative Coulter Fan

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I cannot believe it. Now there's a prayer vigil going on at Duke University. Well, I guess I can understand it in one sense. If they're praying for these... Well, you know, that's just the latest example, and there are countless examples of what the drive-by media is, and what they do.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Since the media is obviously very, very hurt -- the drive-by media now very disturbed -- by the title, the term that I have dubbed them, "the drive-by media," I think, ladies and gentlemen, it would be worthwhile to redefine for you exactly what the drive-by media is. They are exactly like drive-by shooters, they pull up to a congested area, they spray a hail of bullets into the crowd. It causes mass hysteria, confusion, mistakes, and misinterpretation, sometimes people and their careers actually die, and then the drive-by media smirks and they ride away, unnoticed in the excitement. They're never blamed, they're never held accountable.

In fact, they're lauded! They're held up as heroes (mostly by themselves) and then the rest of us have to engage in mopping up the mess that the drive-by media caused. They're flying down the highway with the top down, laughing and looking for their next group of victims to hail the bullets and mortar fire into in the form of the way they cover a story, and this is repeated over and over and over. There seems to be no stopping them and their marauding ways, and that's what I mean by drive-by media...

Mega Dittos to that!

Once again the drive-by media doesn't get it right.
As usual, one person "reports" the story, and the rest run with it.
They don't bother to check to see if the report is accurate.

That's not reporting...

that's repeating.

So if you appear at the Courthouse and they take a mug shot what is it if not arrested?

Why should Rush have to pay 30 Large to the state of Florida, if he has not been convicted of any crime?

This is nonsense and, in my opinion, stinks of extortion.

"As much as he has done for both Bushes, one of them should pardon him of any and all ALLEGED wrongdoing. Jeb, if he had any stones at all, could call this investigation off right away."

I respecfully disagree. Rush admitted he was addicted to prescription drugs. If there had not been an investigation he probably would still be addicted. He has gone through treatment and people who have addictions need to continue through treatment for a long time.

What would the Bush's pardon him from? As I understand it there is no more investigation.
