The mother of a U.S. Marine was grieving for her dead son when she found that his savings account had been claimed by the director of the funeral home.
It was money that he had no right to and despite a court ruling, the funeral director refused to pay.
What's even more puzzling is that he's not just any debtor, he's the mayor of the small town and a member of a City Council that has financial responsibility for the city's budget.
7NEWS also found that he has other debts as well, something his constituents may want to know.
Jason Sepulveda, a Marine, was training at Camp Lejune in North Carolina, preparing to go to Iraq, when in an evening off-base, he was killed in a car accident.
Records show that the funeral was paid, in full, by the Marines.
But after closing out her son's accounts, Jason's mother realized that the probate court had sent the proceeds of Jason's savings account to the funeral home, which is run by Jim Bostick.
Sepulveda took Bostick to court ...
The judge's order ...gave damages, interests, court fines, everything...
But despite the judgment of more than $7,500, Bostick has refused to pay.
Court records show Bostick has several current unsatisfied debts to creditors from Greeley to Montana and that doesn't include money he owed when he filed bankruptcy in 2001.
"My son was in the Marines and he went there to do what was right for his country.
I know for a fact that for somebody to actually steal from him is not right," ...
"I feel like me, as a mother, I need to do this.
This was my son's money and I'm not going to go away."

what a stupid article....who is the mayor? Whats his name? Is the mayor this Bostick person?
Video: Mayor Confronted Over Money Owed Dead Marine's Family
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/9056473/detail.html?rss=den&psp=news#
Unofficial of course.
Uh...you can do this, at least right up to the moment when the judge has you hauled off to jail for contempt of court.
Bostick Is the Mayor.
Grrrrr
Exactly. I wouldn't bother directing any efforts toward this Bostick twit, but rather inquire as to why the judge is allowing Bostick to ignore his/her order?
You can bet if this mayor was a republican, the headlines would read:
REPUBLICAN Mayor Won't Give Dead Marine's Money Back .
You'd also be able to fiqure out what his name is and there'd probably be a REPUBLICAN reference every third paragraph. So you can conclude he's a democratic given the lack of information.
This is common in debt collections. It requires the judgment winner to have her attorney take more action. Liens, forclosure, etc.
There are a lot of unanswered questions. Why was the money released to this guy? Banks have rules, right? Did he do this with other deceaseds' bank accounts? And how was it done?
See post number four.
Is there any contact information for this POS?
Sucks to be him---
Like with OJ after the civil trial conviction.
OJ has been successfully avoiding his full financial obligations.
OJ is not doing too well on the golf courses looking for the killer of the mother of his children.../s
He is the Mayor of Fort Lupton, Colorado.
His picture and voice is on the video.
This could be a good start.
Yeah, it sounds more like fraud which should have him in jail instead of, or in addition to, civil court.
Sounds as if a couple of Force Recon Marines need to pay this guy a little visit and 'splain' to him why this type of behaviour is not acceptable in this country.
I hope a prosecutor picks up on this and goes after this man for some type of larceny or fraud charge in criminal court.
"There are a lot of unanswered questions. Why was the money released to this guy? Banks have rules, right? Did he do this with other deceaseds' bank accounts? And how was it done?"
It would have to be done via a court order correct? He must have sued the deceased Marine's estate.
It doen't make sense!

Doesn't look like a crook to me. NOT!!!
I have not found any, yet....still looking.
Hopefully someone will post it here.
Apparently the probate court clerk sent it to the wrong address.
It should have been sent to the family, not to the funeral home.
Maybe this POS had help from a "friend" at the court. This POS being the Mayor...
He should be in criminal court, now.
Unfortunately, the marine's family may never get their sons money.
This POS will hide it somewhere.
He has a bad history. His future does not look any better.
I saw the video, thanks. And when I went to the offical site for Fort Lupton, CO, only 2 of the 8 people listed had any contact information. The mayor was NOT one of those 2. Even went so far as to try the white pages for a Jim Bostick...no luck. But thanks for your input.
Can't they put a lien on this scum's assets? He owns a Funeral home and must have a house.
I wonder if the good people of the town can recall hizzzoner?
Something like this?
Bostick Funeral Home
806 Denver Ave
Fort Lupton
Colorado 80621
Phone: (303) 857-2290

Jim Bostick
Perhaps the Patriot Guard Riders could pay him a litle visit along with the VFW, American Legion, DAV, the Gold Star Mothers, and every other veteran in the area from all walks of life, all chanting softly in unison SHAME-SHAME-SHAME-SHAME-SHAME.
Thanks very much. I ran a google on the town and came up with no contact info for the mayor. Didn't think to search for the funeral home. Kinda slow sometimes. Thanks again.
p.
James Bostick, (303) 857-2290. North Colorado Crematory, Weld. Greeley, 700 8th St, CO, 80631-3910.
BTTT
I am not an attorney, but it seems that a good lawyer could and should be able to put a lien on his house or business.
Of course, he may have them titled in someone else's name an/or mortgaged them to the maximum.
Isn't this sort of thing exactly what county sheriff till taps are for?
I was thinking of a visit less vocal and more physical.
It would also seem he is guilty of fraud by filing a suit in the first place. The Gov't paid him and then he lied with his court filings to steal the Marine's savings.
I sense this mayor has some kind of Death Wish. Nothing like making a bunch of stateside Marines unhappy with you! :)
Excellent idea.
"Perhaps the Patriot Guard Riders could pay him a little visit ..."
This is one Marine that would love to see this "individual" in person........
Someone should suggest this to the local Marine Reserve outfit, I'm sure they can get him to change his tune. WHAT AN ASSHOLE there I said it and the mod can remove it if he wants.
"what a stupid article....who is the mayor? Whats his name? Is the mayor this Bostick person?"
Were you born, raised and educated in the "Big Sleazy"? Or, were you "sentenced" to serve time there?
Re-read the article.
Thanks. I never thought to google the funeral home. Friday night, beer, and freeping are not always a good combination.
thanks againg.
p
The mayor could be overdue for a $7500 accident.
"thanks againg."
oh I've heard of spell check. I just happen to think it's for sissies.
That's JimBo Stick.
Thanks for your work on this and the ping.
We all are trying to do the right thing...together.
The more people who do some research, the better.
I searched the city, him personally, etc. also with little success.
We just got lucky with his funeral homes. It looks like he has more than one.
Hopefully, he will get his day in criminal court and see the inside of a jail, soon.
Thanks for posting the article!
Sounds like time for a blanket party.
This guy, the Mayor, needs a visit from the Night Riders... What a disgusting POS; stealing money from a dead marine... Watch the video, it's SO all OVER Mr. Mayor!!!
Have you seen this yet?
Doubt that you'd need an old squid's help, but I'd WALK down from Billings to get in on the dungaree liberty this POS deserves.
