These bans hurt everything, and they slice off one more piece of the individuals freedom of choice. I don't beleive that they'll lower property taxes much over this. I think it's a smoke-screen to get everyone on the smoking ban band wagon. I really can't see them wanting to lower anything, IMHO.
No, I don't smoke, but it's looking more tempting every day, LOL!
Nah, it doesn't appeal to me in the least, other than a nice Ladylike Ceeegar once in a while. As we've discussed before, it's the Personal/Business Property Rights that come into play with these smoking bans that get my goat. ;)
Just found a cool fund that I'm going to roll an old IRA into:
http://www.vicefund.com
Investment breakdown by industry:
24.2% - Alcohol
25.7% - Defense
26.9% - Gaming
20.2% - Tobacco
3.0% - Other
Averages about 18% over time, which is terrific. 10% was it's lowest return since inception, which is liveable. You and I both know that if the balloon goes up, the last things people will give up will be their Beer and Cigs and Bingo. And if the balloon does go up, we'll be building up our military like crazy-mad, ala WWI & WWII. :)

I'm going by the anti's that we get in FR. It seems that the meaner we get with them, they love it. They can then just keep getting uglier with us. Can't insult them at all. That's how I have found it.....:)
Nothing to do with anything, but it just dawned on me-your screen name means "383 Road Runner", right? I had a 1967 GTX once, loved that car. One of the best and most bulletproof engines ever made (which, of course, is why they stopped making it).
this time from a mysterious group calling themselves "Texas Judicial Watch"
Does this mean "Victoria's Secretes" will finally be exposed?
No apology needed, FRiend - we're on the same side here, it's not that big of a deal if we approach it from different angles.
In fact, the fact we do approach the issue from different angles is what sets us apart from the antis. They only know one way to approach the issue "my way or the highway."
I probably should have worded what I was saying a bit more clearly, but I have been posting so much on the fly lately because I'm so busy.....which is another thing that sets us apart from the antis: We all have real lives to live, the antis live and breathe this stuff.
I would love to meet an anti that could keep up with me and the various things that I HAVE to do in my life, let alone those that I just do because they have a purpose or I enjoy them. Thankfully most of the things I HAVE to do are things I enjoy. I don't believe there is much enjoyment in the lives of most antis, unless they convince enough people that controlling their lives is a good thing. BLECK.......
I did the heels, hair, and hose world long enough. I can revert back to it on a moments notice, but I prefer jeans and workboots and dirt under my fingernails.
I worked my butt off in Virginia and Maryland this year and both states killed proposed smoking bans and that made me feel really good.........but no where near as good as delivering the first orders of the pepper jellies I make from the peppers I grow.
As I have long said, we have lives to live - the antis live to destroy our ways of life. I will live my life and fight them for as long as I need to, but I will not give up my life.
How does crap like this happen in Texas? I thought the all of Texas (except maybe for Austin) was immune to this kind of crap.
Yes, it does mean 383 road runner. I have a '70 runner, 68 GTX, and a '71 340 Duster. Those old 383's and 440' were tough all right. They're the fastest street cars I've ever owned too.
WOW!! Must be nice to be rich LOL I know they weren't racers, but I owned several slant sixes, and they were one of the best engines ever made, too. Just like the big-blocks, as long as you performed regular maintenance, you could get at least 300,000 miles out of them easy before an overhaul was needed. I also owned a '65 Dodge with a 383, and that thing was bulletproof as well. One of the most reliable vehicles I ever owned. Too bad Chrysler has its head up its ass. You'll notice Generous Motors never got rid of their small-block V-8, which has been around in one form or another since 1955. I do miss the old stovebolt sixes, though. Owned about 10 of those. Have an older GMC Jimmy S-15 now and love it-has the GM v-6-another bulletproof engine they've made since...hmmmm...I believe 1960. I know I had a 1961 Buick Special convertible with that motor in it.
"Williamson added, "It oughta be illegal." He said that no pseudo-anonymous phone call could sway him from his original intent to vote yes on the smoking ordinance."
Hey williamson, you don't like a phone call disrupting you on your property, yet you want the government to disrupt others on their private property. What a tool of socialism you are.
And that's the truth! There you have it! Another hypocrite!
