LOS ANGELES Major streets will be closed Monday to accommodate immigrant rights demonstrations, according to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
The first march from Broadway and Olympic Boulevard to City Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will have Broadway closed from Temple Street to 11th Street, prohibiting east-west traffic.
Drivers are encouraged to use Alameda Street, Figueroa Street, Flower Street and Cesar Chavez Avenue to circumvent the Broadway closure.
Another demonstration along Wilshire Boulevard from Alvarado Street to La Brea Avenue will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Wilshire Boulevard will be closed from Alvarado to Cloverdale Avenue from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Vermont, Normandie, Western, Wilton, Highland and La Brea avenues will be open to north-south traffic until 3:45 p.m.
Traffic will reopen as the march proceeds down Wilshire Boulevard after the streets are closed at 3:45 p.m.
Wilshire Boulevard traffic will be diverted onto Third Street in the north and Olympic Boulevard in the south.
The Department of Transportation will aggressively enforce temporary parking restrictions in place for the march.
Dash service routes A, B, D and the City Hall shuttle will be affected and may be rerouted as necessary.
Metro bus service on Broadway and Hill streets in downtown will be interrupted from 10:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Buses normally operating on those north-south streets will operate on Spring or Main streets between Pico Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Routes affected by the downtown protest include lines 2, 4, 10, 11, 30, 31, 40, 42, 45, 46, 48, 740 and 745.
The second rally that begins at 4 p.m. on Wilshire Boulevard in MacArthur Park will cause Metro bus lines 20, 21 and 720 to detour along Third Street between Bixel Street and Fairfax Avenue from 2:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Northbound and southbound buses that cross Wilshire Boulevard will be interrupted. Passengers will have to exit the bus, cross the parade route and board another Metro bus on the other side.
More information can be obtained by calling Los Angeles Department of Transportation at (323) 224-6534 or the Metropolitan Transportation Authority at (800) 266-6883.
Americans have to be inconvenienced for the illegal alien
militant march, if that isn't the most stupid annoying ignorant thing I ever heard. The miscreants are threatening this nation and WE have to step aside for them?
That's ENOUGH!
DEPORT, armed guards on the border stop any more of the invaders from coming in and defiantly threatening us.
I am thoroughly sick of the..........(fill in the blank)
"Americans have to be inconvenienced for the illegal alien

thats is the overall plan, here at home and in other countries;

They're NOT immigrants. They're illeagals. A thief and a sales clerk might both take your money, but one is illegal and the other is ringing up a purchase. It's not the same.
Now do things like this come about and why do "we the people" put up with it?
This is called surrendering to the illegal alien puppets and their Commie string pullers.
Stuart Varney is telling MS Banderas, mexican on Fox
that the march is a DISGRACE!!
he is angry as the rest of us.
"This is wholly divisive and wholly wrong"
Stuart Varney on Fox.

Closing roads for this nonsense is crazy. They ought to instead keep all the streets open and raise the speed limit for the day.
Bring on the Humvees!
Because of closed roads some people will not make it to work...this will make the boycott appear more supported than it actually is.
I truly think if people lose money because they couldn't get to work...there will be a bigger backlash than these illigals can imagine.
The TRUE working class is going to be PISSED OFF by May 2nd!
Tanks are too "Chinese" in nature - use bulldozers instead.
Take away the free ride and most illegals would go home voluntarily.
I'm not much of a leader but I wish there could be a movement to have a similar boycott on May 5th by legal Americans
This is the problem. The majority of working Americans just keep doing the right thing day after day. We don't have time or energy to organize. We have no leadership to support us or affirm us.
Our elected leaders just keep pandering to minority and special interest groups, taking our continued hard work and taxes for granted.
all this going on while the Los Angeles is trying to promote folks to move DOWNTOWN and new residential and commercial constuction DOWNTOWN!
just goes to show you what a bunch of morons L.A. has for Mayor and city council! LMAO
.......while hopping on one foot and juggling four cats.
I am thoroughly sick of the....&%*@$#s=+......(fill in the blank)
What the F made them so special and worthy of this?
"This is called surrendering to the illegal alien puppets and their Commie string pullers."
Corrupt government of scofflaws, from the White House to city councils, Quislings all.
There is one thing that I will do tomorrow, anyone I buy from, either personally or through business, that is closed will NEVER get another cent from me.
I'm not sure they're inconveniencing anyone up here in Seattle. Everyone up here is either a left-wing moonbat or a government employee (not that they're mutually exclusive), and we've been told to be gone before the marchers make it to the Federal Building.
The only impact they'll have is on the pigeons, seagulls, and police, who will be in attendance sucking up lots of overtime.
The police, not the pigeons.
bump^
Boycott any business who closes on May Day for Pinko de Mayo.
;) my sentiments exactly.
Nice fence.
BTTT with a thanks.
What street are the INS busses to use Monday day afternoon.
It's been a long time in the making, while most of America has been either asleep, complacent, whatever.
Don't even get me started on the politicians who condone this.....!!
There should be tens of thousands of Americans on the streets burning Mexican flags tomorrow IMO.
These are huge street closures. Wilshire Blvd. has never been closed down for the length announced... at least 3 miles... and for as many hours. And I have been here for nearly a lifetime.
This will occur at the beginning of the work week and will wreak havoc with traffic, commerce, etc. The businesses all along Wilshire can forget it. I hope someone tells the senior citizens to not venture out; there are many who live along the route.
There will be a domino effect along the rest of Wilshire and on parallel east-west routes: Olympic, 3rd Street, Beverly. This will cost the city $thousands as they bring in personnel to manage this. LAPD will no doubt be on tactical alert.
The street closure must have been ordered by the mayor; I would bet on it. No group or event has EVER been able to close streets to this extent.
It is extremely dangerous to make the city this vulnerable.
This is beyond the pale. We have laws on the books already to kick their sorry rears out. So, why isn't ICE doing anything about it?????????? Huh??????? I'm paying ICE, Bush, Congressman, and every federal alphabet agency but am getting nothing in return.
As if!!

The mayor should be recalled immediately, now people see what happens when a hispanic is voted into office.
Never saw a City go down the drain that rapidly all thanks to that mayor.
This isn't about IMMIGRANT RIGHTS... It is about the rights that ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS want the government to give them, including amnesty, in spite of their criminality.
The MSM just cannot face the truth.
Sounds like a good opportunity to round up thousands and march them back home.
And, close to home....
As the public debate heats up about whether students should join rallies over immigration reform May 1 or stay in school, Hermandad Mexicana Latinoamericana is offering its own guidance to parents of school-age children.
On its Web site ( http://www.hermandadmexicana.org/ ), the organization has posted a form letter in English and Spanish for parents to turn into schools asking for officials to excuse their childrens absence on May 1 for personal and family reasons.
The Catholic Church, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Spanish-language radio show hosts and educators have urged students to stay in school on Monday. But HMLs national director Nativo Lopez says the rallies offer a learning opportunity.
I personally believe children have more to learn in the streets exercising heir rights than in the classroom, Lopez said earlier this week. Lopez is a former Santa Ana school board member.

Wow. What a poorly designed website. I have a headache now.
Right. A couple hundred ICE agents are going to surround THOUSANDS of people and start checking ID's? And we thought the WTO riots were bad.
I keep getting a pop-up to load "chinese simplified".
It's put together/endorsed by commies...what WOULD you expect?
