In another internet forum, a former FReeper is monitoring police scanner frequencies in Santa Ana, CA. He reported earlier that all riot control units were called to the area as a riot was beginning to erupt.
Minutes ago he reported that the radio traffic indicated that shots had been fired.
More info as it comes in. Does anyone live near Santa Ana, is there any confirmation on local TV or radio? Anyone have a police scanner or an online link?

Reports that SWAT teams on standby. Reporting another group of about 300 has appeared, hostile in nature, blocking traffic.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "SANTA ANA — Police asked other law enforcement agencies for help this afternoon after a group of 1,500 protesters jammed traffic on Bristol Street near 1st Street and Edinger Avenue and some started to hurls rocks, plastic bottles and marbles at officers.
“It’s starting to take a turn for the worse,” Santa Ana police Sgt. Lorenzo Carrillo said."

My BIL is an OC Deputy Sheriff; was going to retire in March but stayed over a year since they are having recruiting problems (who isn't)..
There are so many criminal elements within the illegal community that this could be violence for the sake of violence.
Last I heard, in our CA prisons, over a third of jailed violent offenders are close to all illegal Mexicans.

Makes me sad to say it, but with no one supporting the various police dept.s,why would anyone want to join? The law enforcement agencies need to have support from within and from without. My prayers are always with them.
