Seven people were injured when the driver of a pickup truck fleeing from Border Patrol agents crashed into a second pickup in Marana.
A Border Patrol agent spotted the Chevrolet truck on Arizona 86 near Sandario Road about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, said Agent Sean King, a Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman.
The agent was suspicious because the truck had no license plate. He tried to pull it over, but the driver sped away, King said. A helicopter followed as the truck turned onto Interstate 19 and then Interstate 10, he said.
It left the freeway at Tangerine Road and ran a stop sign, striking an eastbound Dodge truck around 11 p.m., said Sgt. Tim Brunenkant, a Marana Police Department spokesman.
The Chevrolet truck then caught fire, and all six people in the cab escaped from the flames, Brunenkant said.
The driver was flown to University Medical Center with a life-threatening head injury, but authorities said he was expected to recover.
The passengers were treated for minor injuries at the hospital, then released to the Border Patrol. The driver of the Dodge also was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, Brunenkant said. No names were released.
Police determined that the Chevrolet truck had been reported stolen and the six people were illegal entrants, Brunenkant said.
Officials have a warrant for the driver's arrest and he may face people-smuggling charges when he is released from the hospital.

It's a new tactic. There have been a series of vehicle accidents lately in border states of trucks coming in with illegals. They purposely cause an accident then they claim they are hurt so they will be taken to the nearest hospital. They are told in Mexico that the Migra is not allowed to wait for the illegals on hospital property so after they are treated, they book it and they are in AMERICA!

I heard this on a local Phoenix radio station's news this morning. The report stated those in the van were a family visiting relatives in the US.
How can the facts get so twisted?

Got into an accident once with an illegal about 15 years ago in L.A. Dude ran a red light at about 50 mph and T-boned my rig (missing hitting the driver's side door by a couple feet), totaling it. Guy had no license, no reg, and of course no insurance. ("No tengo insurance, amigo"). The cops took this all in stride, as if they've heard it thousands of times before.
Perhaps they don't bother waiting, but I'd be shocked if they are strictly not allowed to wait for criminal suspects. I don't believe it, really.

If they wait to take the illegals into custody after treatment, the BP is liable for their medical bills.
Now, whether the BP abandons them at the hospital as a matter of department policy is unknown to this correspondent...but the matter is moot when you consider the result.
I believe that's accurate. For reasons known only to itself, the Bush administration does not allow its agents to enforce U.S. immigration law at hospitals...
...or at work sites, or at schools, or at airline boarding gates, or at gatherings of hundreds of thousands of protesting illegal aliens...or at much of anyplace at all.

Right! Guests are invited, and guests go home. Guests don't expect you to support them. Guests don't close your hospitals down. Guests don't overload your children's schools. Guests don't bring long-eradicated diseases into your town.
More people need to call this what it is - INVASION aided and abetted by our own government, without firing a shot in our defense.

I'm not sure that is an accurate statement. We've had Homeland Security in our hospital many, many times and with some of the more special illegals (those causing death to an American citizen)they are posted outside the criminals door 24/7
Any shamnesty program will only feed the mania. The government is surrendering to a mob that contains billions of desperate, ignorant superstitious people easily led by demagogues who hate America.
They should break out the catapult and aim the illegal aliens at the nearest Mexican hospital.

This is so sad. From what the paper said this morning, the entire (innocent) family was killed. There aren't any major accidents around here without illegals being involved.
