I don't hold nannies responsible for this kind of crap anymore. I hold the smokers who continue to spend money at nonsmoking establishments after the bans responsible. If they ban it in your area, don't solicit the businesses. A 25% drop in business will end a smoking ban in any area.

Agree with that 1000%. 8^)

With Cajuns being able to have their own seafood "boils" and cooking just as good as the restaurants, I see the restaurants losing business.

Yep. They're going to find out Southerners are a different breed that still believe in freedom.

They like their hack-a-thons.

"Yep. They're going to find out Southerners are a different breed that still believe in freedom"

I think that holds pretty true. My family is from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. They don't take kindly to anyone butting in their daily business. That's where I get my rebellious streak from.

Her comments say no such thing, but don't hesitate to continue down your decietful path. BTW, when you talk about another FReeper, it is polite to ping them to the comments.

------------------------------------------------------------

Every sickly kid I know comes from a household where they are not permitted to get dirty, anti-bacterial soaps and wipes are used constantly, and are all non-smoking households. All the healthy kids I know are allowed to be kids - they play outside, they get dirty, they've been known to even eat dirt and many live in non-smoking households, but others live in households with smokers, or are around friends and relatives that are smokers. (Gabz)(highlighting mine)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Let me explain my power of deduction: Our friend, Gabz seems to believe that children from homes where parents, friends and relatives smoke are healthier than children from homes without smoke. (gasp) I deduce that (if what she says is true) then, children would be healthier if they had a device in their bedroom that would provide those young lungs with the nutritional benefits of tobacco smoke.

What do you think?

I must add one caveat - I do feel that both of you are very good people and any disagreement we have in forum is just that and doesn't mean that I do not like you.

My dad was a smoker who died at the age of 55 of heart failure with his lunch packed away in the refrigerator for the next day.

You broke the 2 most important rules of internet positing - you did not inform the person you were talking about, and you chose to mislead others about what the person said.

As far as I am concerned you are worthless as someone to bother with.

If I find you posting about me again without letting me know I will be reporting you for abusive posting. This was an EXTREMELY abusive post.

Thanks my friend........I've been away all day and am just getting back here - I hope to find that the dork has mendit's s/h/it's ways.

The anti-smoekrs would have totally FREAKED out at the seafood festival we attended today.........more than 75% of the folks there were tobacco users..........and I'm only talking about the 3,200 people who paid to attend, not the several 100s of folks working there.

One of my classmates (17 years old) in 1975 was killed in a car after smoking pot and losing control.

My mother died at 51 from a heart attack. Never smoked.

Close friend died 5 years ago at 39 from breast cancer. Never smoked.

I can do this all night.

Not smoking didn't fix their life.

Nobody knows that your father wouldn't have suffered the same fate as a non smoker. Happens to thousands of young non smokers every day.

Let me explain my power of deduction:

Let me explain your power of deduction:

IT IS NON-EXISTENT.

Picking and choosing what someone says to suit your own agenda is NOT deductive reasoning - it is selective editorializing..........I worked in media, in fact I used to be a reporter - nothing in your post is deductive or objective.

One of my "tobacco smoking" uncles died of lung cancer at 65 years old a few years ago. Have you ever been around anyone dying of lung cancer? It's like 18 months of pneumonia. Coughing, bedridden and taking pain medication that causes constipation.

Anyway, I am encouraged that Louisiana is helping the people who smoke tobacco reduce it's use. A lot of people around me that are approaching 60 years old are dying of tobacco use complications.

You know what the cruel part of it is? Just about the time a person is at retirement age, got grandchildren and money in the bank - premature death.

I do wish all the tobacco users the best in life.

"How can the lawmakers ignore law when they write it?"

Pull the covers over your head and go back to sleep.

The lack of basic reasoning, the ignorance of English common law and the US constitution and the senseless embrace of Marxism is appalling on this thread.

We have a long, long road to travel in order to educate some people on basic God-given rights and the sovereignty of the individual.

I'm going to save a ton of money when they ban it here. I'll only go to the bar to play shows. I'll solicit the businesses when I quit smoking, since they only want nonsmokers, apparently.

One of my "non-smoking" uncles died of kidney disease at 63 years of age. Have you ever been around someone dying of kidney disease?

The point of anecdotes is that they mean nothing.

Let's try this anecdote: people who don't smoke live 7 years longer than people who smoke. They get to sit in nursing homes, drooling, not recognizing their family, haven't a clue where they are, need a nurses aide to go to the bathroom, take 5 different pills to maintain some semblance of normalcy, can't drink a beer or eat a tomato, see their few possessions stolen by nursing home staff, get treated like crap after visiting relatives leave and the windows in their room won't open to give a wisp of fresh air.

The point being made is that children need to be exposed to things as they develop. That allows them to build their immune systems. The WHO study actually proved that exposure to SHS as children did reduce the rate of later contraction of asthma, allergies and lung diseases.

The children of today live in a steril environment and we are seeing the rates of asthma and allergies skyrocketing.

So - tobacco smoke is good for you and will possibly aid in preventing you from having to endure too much length of life.

May you and your children always have all the smoke you want and may my children and I be free to avoid tobacco smoke.

Let freedom ring!

That is not what I said, but feel free to keep twising words and ignoring facts to fit your view of the world. Your thinking on this subject is about as legitimate as the thinking of those against preemptive action to ensure our security.

Good post.. One of the things is unintended consequences.. If we look back when most women smoked, most women were thin. Now some of those women did die in their 60's of cancer.. and some smoked excessively.

Today some women die fat and unhappy of a heart attack in their 50's. The healthiest and youngest looking woman I know by far for her age is a 52 year old who smokes moderately.

Have you ever been around people dying from cancer that didn't smoke?

Not any better.

And as non smokers represent the majority,
they also represent the majority of cancer and disease.

Maybe if the billions extracted through massive taxation on
cigarettes was spent on a cure, neither group would have to suffer.

Sadly, it's spent instead on harrasing people who
are enjoying personal freedom using a legal product.
Then, picking up the bill for the harrasment.
