Although the circumstances surrounding the agreement are still cloudy, Randy Quaid has dropped his lawsuit against Brokeback Mountain studio Focus Features.

Most of Tinseltown knows by now that Randy Quaid, one of the stars of this year's Oscar-winning pic Brokeback Mountain, brought a lawsuit against the film's studio, Focus Features, claiming he was duped out of a proper salary because the studio was touting it as an indie, arthouse film that would most likely not bring in big bucks at the box office. The actor claimed that Focus knew the film would perform well at the box office, and he brought suit in L.A. Superior Court about six weeks ago looking for proper compensation for his work.

Now, according to Daily Variety, the suit has been dropped, but the trade paper is reporting that the circumstances surrounding Quaid's decision to drop the case are still up in the air.

"We wouldn't want those cast party photos to make it to the press, would we Mr.Quaid?..."

This is just a prelude to the sequel;"Brokeback Whiner".

Maybe the studio threatened to release the director's cut where Quaid has relations with some other dude.

They agreed to drop a counter-suit. The producers claimed false advertising. Randy Quaid wasn't so randy aftet all. < /sarc >

LOL! Most hysterically funny and appropriate post I have seen in a long time! And the picture works to!

Brokeback Whiner

I assume your referring to Quaid.

From what I read previously, they did lie to him about their budget and the planned distribution of the film. He agreed to lower his acting fee based on their misinformation.

If that is the case, then I can find no fault with him for filing a lawsuit.

If I am missing something, please enlighten me.

Brokeback was created to change our attitudes about homosexuality, just as recently canceled TV show Commander in Chief was made to soften us up for a woman president.

It's hard to believe the producers of Brokeback had anything but the best of motives for their actions.

At first, when I read this, I confused him with his brother. Then I realized it was RANDY, not Dennis--and just screamed: COUSIN EDDIE!!!????

Randy needs to read his scripts more carefully or fire his agent. Not having seen the movie, nor ever will, I'm not sure what role (or how big) Randy played.

Any truth to the rumors that westerns are making a comeback, and that Brokeback will lead the way?

I fully concur with your sentiment.

I am sure that the producer's of 'BM' are shocked, SHOCKED I say, that Mr. Quaid jumped off of their altruistic bandwagon for the sake of mere money. The cad.

YES:

Is the idea of gay cowboys really that new? Didn't the Village People do that a couple of decades ago? Am I the only person who saw John Travolta in "Urban Cowboy"?

Movies with the same groundbreaking theme to come:

-- "Westward Homo!"
-- "The Magnificent, Fabulous Seven"
-- "Gunfight at the K-Y Corral"
-- "How West Hollywood Was Won"

Giving credit where credit is due: The ever delicious..........Ann Coulter.
