Good evening. Thanks for the thread.
Summer vacation.... well, I'll be spending time with my son and oldest daughter. My son will be deploying to the sandbox later this year and he reports for training on July 14. My daughter is being left behind in the states to work on her college degree. The rest of us will be leaving for an island in the South Pacific where my hubby teaches at an international school.
We'll all probably play in a summer band in June and with our concert on the Fourth right before a huge fireworks display. That is always fun.
Evenin' Connie! I think I've figured out how to get around my company's little server nazi scheme. I'm gonna have my son set-up my laptop to pirate of random wi-fi signals in my office building. He says that if I'm not on for too long at a stretch, no one will know.
You are most welcome Jemian & welcome to the Canteen! You all sure have some serious plans. Thanks to your son for his service & I hope your daughter finds great success in her degree.
Summer vacation?
Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada.

Signing off now. Have a great night!

Hawaiis 21st Annual Military Appreciation Month opening ceremony kicked off under a deep, blue evening sky on the pier beside the Mighty Mo, April 27. Each year, the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and Hawaiis business community pay tribute to the military by hosting various events throughout the month of May to demonstrate Hawaii's appreciation for their contributions and sacrifices. Gov. Linda Lingle spoke to hundreds of service members and civilians in attendance, reminding them how important the military is in Hawaii. Its important for them to hear it over and over how much we appreciate their presence in the community and their sacrifices on the battlefield, said Linda Lingle, the governor of Hawaii.

Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity? Job 2:10 In the fall of 1982, Deborah Kiley set out with three other young people to deliver the 58-foot yacht Trashman from Maine to Florida. Off the coast of North Carolina, they encountered gale winds and mountainous seas that sank their boat. Enduring 4 grueling days at sea without food or fresh water, the crew clung to life in a rubber dinghy in shark-infested waters.
In her book Albatross, Deborah recalls how one of the crew shouted curses at God for their dilemma. Despite her fatigue, Deborah silently recited The Lords Prayer and asked God to teach her through this crisis. Later, the same young man drank seawater, became delirious, jumped overboard, and was eaten by sharks. Eventually, the survivors were rescued by a Russian freighter.
Each of us responds in different ways to a crisis. Centuries ago, Job was hit by one wave of bad news after another. At one point his wife told him to curse God and die. Jobs response was profound: Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity? (Job 2:10).
The next time a crisis hits, recognize Gods sovereignty and do as Deborah Kiley didask God to teach you something through it.
O Lord, I would not ask You why
These trials come my way
But what there is for me to learn
Of Your great love, I pray. D. De Haan
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Job
