Yep. And the liberals have the nerve to call someone who has worked hard for their money all their lives "greedy" for not wanting the government to steal half of what they have managed to save.

Exactly. Kerry's wife, Ta-ray-za, had an income of almost $50 MILLION yet because all the money is in trust funds and tax shelters, she paid at a rate of approximately 1-2%.

Why? Because they don't have have to pay it anyway, protecting their money in tax-exempt foundations (among other shelters).Ted Kennedy's tax return would be interesting.

Read the Gulag Archipelago. That isn't communism, and there is something that actually is. It may be a stupid law, it may be bad public policy, it may penalize savings, yada yada, but no it is not communism. Any more than Bush is Hitler. Can the hyperbole, it just makes people insensitive to real crimes.

The estate tax is not 20 million innocents murdered. The estate tax is not communism. It may be Keynesian, it may be liberal, it may be dumb, it may be bad policy. But it is not communism.

Communism and the politics of jealousy.. The super rich will move their money around and be a citizen of some other nation before they die, so the government won't see much of that anyway.
They tax the crap out of any savings while you are alive.. then if there is any left, once you are dead they take the lion's share. Then they wonder why America has a very low savings rate??

...government stealing...is wrong no matter the amounts involved. You summed it up perfectly. Just add this tax to the all the others, where the government unjustly helps itself to OUR earned dollars. Outright theft, IMO. Like it or not, we tolerate it.

Be glad you get to keep any at all! Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause Im the taxman,
Yeah, Im the taxman.
Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause Im the taxman,
Yeah, Im the taxman.
