A good place to begin would be to follow the example of the majority of Latin American countries and stop granting citizenship to the children of those who come into our nation illegally.

......or here on a tourist visa, student visa, etc. Only children of citizens and permanent residents should be granted birthright citizenship. We really do shoot ourselves in the foot in our attempt to be liked.

Canada just did away with their anchor baby laws too. We're the only stupid ones left.

We have had a similar experience. My wife and I adopted my niece. Her natural mother (my sister) was in trouble with drugs and probation violations. Fearing arrest, she ran to Tijuana to have the baby. The baby was born of two American citizens.

The baby was born in a hospital, and then she was brought over the borders without any documentation. My sister was then arrested in the US. Since then, we got full custody and then adoption.

We can’t get a Social Security number and Immigration says she is an “illegal alien.” She is now six. We are going down to Mexico this summer to try to get this straightened out, but I have no hope.

I have found the INS "local office" employees to be among the most arrogant, "power tripping" bureaucrats I have ever encountered.

See my previous post...I agree totally.

Yes, folks--insanity reigns supreme at the INS! Don't we all feel better knowing that the Mohammed Attas, as well as every Tomas, Ricardo and Geraldo of the world can get into the US with ease, yet government agencies are out there protecting us from little girls?

TankerKC, you are my hero for rescuing this child and being man enough to fight for her! Tell your wife to give you a great big hug from me. And don't let the jerks get you down!

Well...I will, 'cuz I like the hugs...but it will have to wait as the military has us apart...again.

My wife is the one that deserves all of the credit. This all happened while I was on a one year deployment. We already have four kids and she was going it alone. She never hesitated to take our new daughter in. Every time I like at my little girl, i get a tear in my eye...partly out of my love for her, and partly out of awe for the things my wife has done for her...and our whole family.

Honestly, she's a Saint and I don't know what I did to deserve her.

Oh, now you both are on my Hero list! What can I say? It's an honor to share the planet with you. God bless you all and bring you together safely again. Thanks for your service to our country, too!

That does it. So help me, Sam Farr is getting a copy of this thread!!!

It's a blessing we have Free Speach in this country. Without it we'd be zombies, wandering & wondering.

"Illegal mothers bear Illegal children". I have been saying for decades... "You can NOT right with a wrong". If this were true one can surmise/argue in any court,... "When a person kills another, that act can be corrected by birthing another".

OK, SO HOW TO CORRECT THIS??? (It's all to simple)
A. Deport the mother.
.....(The mother already knew that this was a high probability)
B. If said child is underage, it goes to an orphanage.
.....(At least there those children can learn why what happened to them is wrong)
C. IF that mother truly loves & cares for that child... that mother should register that said child in there own country for citizenship.
D. Once that is accomplished, then & only then can they (mother & child) go through the process of applying for US citizenship.
.....(called, get back in line)

This way our EXISTING laws will be satisfied!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

No talk of anchor babies in any of this recent talk. Is it that taboo?
