LOS ANGELES – A San Bernardino measure that would prohibit landlords from renting to illegal immigrants and force day laborers to prove legal residency to work has qualified for a special election, a city official said Thursday.

The minimum 2,216 valid signatures had been counted, setting the stage for an election, said San Bernardino City Clerk Rachel Clark.

Advertisement Joseph Turner, an anti-illegal immigration activist who sponsored the initiative, said it would show cities that they have the power to combat illegal immigration.

San Bernardino voters are too busy tweaking on meth or getting in bar fights to counteract the illegals via ballot initiative. ;-)

THIS BILL "SUPPOSEDLY" IS NOT EVEN NECESSARY! IF CONGRESS WOULD DO THEIR JOB THIS GARBAGE WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who: Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact; has committed a federal crime. Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense. http://www.americanpatrol.com/REFERENCE/AidAbetUnlawfulSec8USC1324.html

BRAVO!!!

How does one get the state initiatives started?
Heck with wasting faxes to Washington start with State legislatures.

Problem is the illegals have FALSE documents so how can it be proven they are "undocumented"??

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph."
-Thomas Paine

Beautiful! For all anti-illegal PATRIOTS!
Lets fight till we get the job done in spite of Washington.

Good luck Joe, I hope this is the beginning of the backlash we all want to see.

It is absurd it even has to been done. It isn't an issue between us and them. They have no legal rights to be here, and therefore the debate cannot have two sides. The issue is strictly between legal American citizens and our governments at all levels elected to represent US, who are failing to uphold the law and their oath's of office to us, the real Americans, all across this nation great nation.

This Floridian just sent a check to SOS.

A check that normally would have gone to RNC.

Just under 50 percent of San Bernardino's 200,000 residents are Hispanic, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. And voters in the city 70 miles east of Los Angeles previously elected twice Judith Valles, a Hispanic woman, as mayor.

Herein lies the danger. When the Hispanic population reaches 51%, political options to solve the problem are off the table. Liberals just can't grasp the fact that they're giving away more than jobs with open borders. They're giving away our language, our culture, our political representation, and our children's future, etc. I will send a donation tonight.

Way to go, Joe!

Looks like Mr. Turner is a trailblazer.

I doubt very many folks even know about this local type of initiative.

It looks like the bar is fairly low...not that it isn't work to go out and get several thousand signatures.

But it really isn't that hard if even a small band of people pool their time and get out there and do it.

There really should be similiar ballot initiatives launched immediately in every locality possible in CA.

I'm going to link this to the CA thread. Let's see what the grassroots says.

It's time for people to put their money...and their energy and their time...where their mouths are.

As always, great work, Ladycalif! Thanks for bringing this important story to our attention!

And thanks to you stopem. The pro-illegal crowd here are only aiding people who will in time become voting Democrats. You know who I'm talking about. These people claim to be pro Bush, yet they defend liberal ideals. We are not fooled by these "moles" who start fights and resort to name calling every time they post. Keep up the good fight.

One other thought before I put my nose to the grindstone this morning:

Other states may have similiar opportunitie for action that folks haven't considered. Very few have as wide-open an initiative process as CA, but who knows?

It could pay big dividends for people in other states to check out their local and state laws to see what they might do, too.
