Oh good! I'm relieved to know that he was only high off prescription drugs and not alcohol.

That's OK then. As long as he wasn't driving drunk.

(sarcasm off)

"“He was drinking a little bit,” said the woman, who works at the Hawk & Dove and would not give her name."

I'm guessing that the Drive By Media will help conceal this lady.

"He said he returned to his Capitol Hill home on Wednesday evening after House votes and took “prescribed” amounts of Phenergan and Ambien."

So is this an admission of driving while impaired?

Booze + Ambien = DUI. Pretty simple math, really. No field sobriety or hospital blood test? Gosh, I wonder why not.

blaming the accident and strange behavior surrounding it on precription drugs.

Booze with some drugs makes a bad combination.

It is in his genes. He's an addict and alcoholic, and he's been through treatment, so he knows it!

God keeps giving these Kennedys a chance to be a good example and influence people in a positive way -- and they keep refusing.

We'll know immediately when a Kennedy becomes humble, teachable, and sober -- he will leave the Dems and join the GOP. He will be RECOVERED!

Ambien:

Drugs.com lists the following possible side effects:

allergic reaction including difficulty breathing hallucinations abnormal behavior severe confusion Other less serious side effects include headache, nausea, depression, muscle pain, vivid dreams, temporary amnesia, and others.

How very convenient. Take a day or two to think about it, learn there are posted side effects, and blame the Ambien.

It was the Ambien...yeah...that's the ticket..

prescription drugs.

No doubt we'll see the same media feeding frenzy and intense investigative journalism into Kennedy's use of prescription drugs that we saw when Rush Limbaugh was accused of doctor shopping. And no doubt the press will insist that the doctor has no presumptive right to confidentiality, so Kennedy's records will be made public.

And then we'll go down to the river and watch the submarine races ...

Phenergan would be my drug of choice if I decided to become an addict. My dentist always prescribes it before I have anything significant done. It's takes me to a very happy place.

I wouldn't try driving when I was under the influence of it, however.

If there is one witness, then there are more, unless he was drinking in the closet. Patches and Tom Cruise have a couple of things in common.

Also, this is the second "accident" in three weeks. Why O Why is no news outlet reporting this? Howie Carr has the police report from Portsmouth RI LEO which Patches filled out. My dog has better penmanship. He was loaded then too, IMHO, and this first accident happened about 2:30 p.m. on a school day, at bus time, on a very busy road, as he was careening his Dem funded Crown Vic into the CVS parking lot.

The obscene gall of the Kennedys is beyond contempt. Patches' two statements are the worst lies I've seen in awhile. I think he is emboldened by the the fact that McKinney is still walking around. Very telling that it is the police unions that are ratting him out. What's that German word?!

googling again:

"Gastroenteritis, or inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, and causes fever, diarrhoea and/or vomiting.

Gastroenteritis usually is of acute onset, normally lasting less than 10 days and self-limiting.

Gastroenteritis is also known as the stomach bug

If the Gastroenteritis inflammation is limited to the stomach, the term gastritis is used, and if the small bowel alone is affected it is enteritis."

Freepers in the DC area can confirm this: the Hawk and Dove is a purely drinking establishment. No one in one's right mind would eat there. And the restrooms are worse. BUT it has the best atmosphere and cheapest drafts in the area--and it doesn't try to be other than it is--a dive where you can drink for not too much $$.

From www.ambien.com:

Important safety information: AMBIEN CR is indicated for the treatment of insomnia. AMBIEN CR is one of many treatment options, in addition to lifestyle changes, that you and your doctor can consider. Until you know how AMBIEN CR will affect you, you shouldn’t drive or operate machinery. Side effects may include next day drowsiness, dizziness and headache. You shouldn’t take it with alcohol. All sleep medicines carry some risk of dependency. Do not use sleep medicines for extended periods of time without first talking to your doctor. Be sure you’re able to devote 7 to 8 hours to sleep before you need to be active again.

By Sunday, we’ll be at the “I have a problem and I’m seeking treatment, for my family’s sake” stage.

We’ll never get to the “I’m going to jail for my crime” stage. Kennedys don’t do that stage.

The Hawk 'n' Dove Restaurant, DC's Oldest Irish Bar, is the archetypal Capitol Hill bar – not the mythical kind where movers and shakers make big deals over expense-account meals. Instead, it's a place where staffers, both Democrat and Republican, gather to gripe about their bosses. (Never by name, of course. The etiquette is to refer to "my member," in case the other guys are eavesdropping.)
