He didn't have 3 years....he was only on the job 20 months.
Ooops! Thank you for the correction.
indeed, I don't see any silver lining possible in this. its bad news.
no one controversial will be appointed - because the confirmation hearings would give the Dems a forum to drag the administration through the mud regarding "intelligence failures".
I don't agree!
Hmmm. This would work. Let's do it!
I don't believe this. I think the problem is a lot deeper than that. The problem goes all the way back to Stansfield Turner when we purged all the old school folks out of the CIA and replaced them with satellites, and analysts recruited from the most liberal of academic institutions.
Turner is just one more grad from USNA that shames the rest of us.
The fact that it wasn't should be a 'red' flag
imo
You may be right. We've got Tony Snow replacing Scott McClellan. When we learn the name of Goss' replacement we'll know.
There is a recent report that approx 25,000 people have left the CIA since Porter took over.
If it was 100,000 at the beginning, that leaves 75,000.
Maybe his job was nearly complete.
Again, we need confirmation on the number, but that is the latest.
Is there a way to clean house, legally? I thought it was illegal to just clean careerists out (not that that stop the Clintons)?
The other thing, the CIA has been off since even before Clinton: they had no clue the USSR was so weak. They thought it would continue for decades. I do wonder about all of the problems, especially Michael Scheuer (sp?). Michael Savage had him on yesterday, IIRC. Did not have a clue who/what he was...
He needs to help the Bush Admin get rid of this "shadow Government the DemonRATs have installed.
What'll happen to him if he does that...lose his job?
It is doubtful the Feds could take his pension away.
Before Clintoon left office, he made "his" people in Justice and the CIA civil servants - since they were no longer political appointees, they are practically impossible to get rid of....
Rolling Back Clinton Time Magazine 1-22-01
Excerpt:
One morning at the nub end of Bill Clinton's presidency, Clinton chief of staff John Podesta walked into a senior staff meeting in the Roosevelt Room waving a copy of USA Today. Holding the paper aloft, Podesta read the headline out loud, "Clinton actions annoy Bush." The article detailed the new rules and Executive Orders the outgoing President was issuing in his final days, actions aimed in equal measure at locking in Clinton's legacy (in areas like environmental protection) and bedeviling his successor. "What's Bush so annoyed about?" Podesta asked with a devilish smile. "He's got four years to try to undo all the stuff we've done."
another quote from the article:
"We laid a few traps," chirps a happy Clinton aide.
No, I hadn't seen that. It's very revealing.
Thanks.
Republicans never name names. They prefer to be quiet and get punched in the press constantly.
I agree. These conspiritors are doing major damage to this country. I am hoping President Bush replaces Goss with someone who will continue the house cleaning.
