New York US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is said to have told a delegation of visiting Indian MPs that India should be prepared to accept some amendments to the bilateral nuclear agreement to facilitate its approval on Capitol Hill.

But the former American Ambassador to India, Frank Wisner, believes the US Congress is unlikely to make too many demands on India.

Wisner says, "Most Congressmen and Senators know that if a material difference was introduced legislatively into the agreement, the agreement would die on the Indian side."

"I hope we don't pass this thing without a test ban from india."

It wouldn't make any difference. India will have all of the previous test data that it needs for any devices that it mounts, and India can already blow the crap out of any Islamist or fascist country that would attack.

Fascists everywhere inevitably ask for trouble and are defeated because of the personality flaws stubbornly resident in fascism.

IMO, the first bomb that falls on Pakistan should have written on it, "Nixon and Clinton said what?"

IMO India has already conceded more than it should have. This deal has already effectively capped 60% of our nuclear arsenal strength. America has a lot to gain from this deal. India is likely to buy a large numbers reactors from the US and the mega deal would run into billions of dollars. It would create thousands of jobs in the US.

Adding additional clauses would completely scuttle the deal. Already the Hindu BJP and the Communists are against the deal.
