You have put your finger right on the problem. All of the current "issues" are the same ... whether gay marriage, socialism, abortion, or whatever ... they have replaced religion in the lives of the fanatical proponents of these "causes". As lives have become centered on these "causes", the "causes" have then become all consuming secular religions for the proponents ... and that is why the "causes" really are supported with a religious fervor bewildering to many other people ...Isn't it a SHAME that these folks don't put all that faith, ardor, belief and energy into the "faith of our fathers"? God/Jesus is the real and only source of peace, contentment and fulfillment in our itty-bitty, finite lives.

This applies to people of all different political stripes. One can just as easily replace God's Word with politically-based fervor once the foundation is ignored with regard to conservative causes.
We must never forget to stand on the rock, not the quicksand of politics.

(Are Marxist academics and apostate bishops trustworthy enough to tell you who the "real" Jesus is?)
