Current Poll - 13% of members will turn it over to the rats????

Posted on 05/06/2006 9:51:50 AM PDT by Sonora

Current poll:

"A time for choosing: It appears that a significant number of our members are so disgusted with the GOP's failure to secure our borders against illegal aliens that they are willing to risk all by voting them out of office, even if it means Pelosi, Reid, Hillary, et al, are allowed to take charge. Is this the best course of action or should we be working harder than ever to hold the line and actually try to make a difference by getting more constitutionally-minded conservatives elected? Are you willing to give it all up or are you more determined than ever to keep the Marxists out of power?" _____

So far, 13% of members and 18%+ of participants in this poll say - turn it over to the rats. What's with that? I cannot believe that 13% of those posting here are so stupid or angry with what is happening that they would turn to the rats for the way back to perfect. Now, 13% will result in a winning vote, in a lot of cases.

Anyway, I guess that there is no compromising for some people - just dig a hole and live there while the rats are in charge. I'm so disappointed.

A world where Pelosi is majority leader, shudder, shudder. And I don't even want to think of hillary clinton in the white house, spare the thought.

Yes. Let's allow the Dems run it into the ground for two or four years and the Republicans can begin to understand what it feels like to be out of power again.

In 1994 the GOP promised us specific changes. They have not kept their promises and will not defend our borders. I am going to vote for the Constitutional Party in November.

Some conservatives are illogical idealists who would harm themselves to make a point. The best you can hope for is that they are posturing to make their voices heard.

My vote has to be earned. Unfortunately, there are few republicans that I can vote for at the moment who have done so. Running a budget deficit like drunken democrats is not the way to do it. The border situation is intolerable, and has been so for years.

I will hold my nose and vote Republican (RINO even) if only to try to protect the military from the cut and run bunch.

After all their sacrifice and with victory ahead, sitting home or (shudder) voting rat amounts to spitting in the eye of our hero's. IMHO

Pelosi as leader isn't nearly so frightening as Henry Waxman with supoena power, becoming chairman of the committee that will most assuredly impeach President Bush.

There is a rather significant percentage (I would wager) of non-Republicans here who would want nothing less than the destruction of the Republican Party. I don't think that's such a bad idea so long as the Democrat Party goes first and we get to start all over.

But only cowards give power back to the weasels on the Left.

One is the DU trolls.

The other are the self proclaimed "true conservatives" who want to see the Democrats in power in order to "show" the GOP and to impeach "BuSHIT".

Maybe you should be more disappointed with the performance of the Republican party! They have completely abandoned conservative principles - there only interest is in doing whatever it takes to stay in power (ironic that this is what will cause them to lose power).

The Democrat party will never support the conservative cause. The current Republican congress will never support the conservative cause; to re-elect them would only reward them and validate their strategy. To think they will return to conservative government is fallacy. The only way to accomplish change is to fire the current inept lot and try for real conservatives in the next election.

Before you start posting BS about how we need to promote change through the primaries take a look at the statistics of # of incumbents who have lost their primary elections. It is complete foolishness to think that primaries can remove incumbents. There is only one way to get conservatives back in charge - and that is to fire Republicans!

With all due respect to FreeRepublic, that is a push poll. I voted with the 13% party in protest because it was worded in such a way as to not be an objective poll.

I will never vote Democratic. But at the same time, I have one absolute, minimal requirement before I go to the poll and pull the lever for a particular candidate. And that is that the candidate must not have voted to promote this ongoing invasion of the US by third world nations.

That means I simply won't vote at all if my Congressional candidates vote for amnesty. Sorry if that offends anyone but that's the way it's going to be.

A bunch of "dead ender" GOP types (as one fellow FR put it so well) -

The reality is these people who seem unwilling to give an inch on the notion that good people cannot come to differing conclusions on how best to handle this 40 year in the making immigration problem is beyond me.

They are acting like spoiled brats and are being used like puppets by the MSM - They have become so blinded by self-absorbtion of their personal politics - At the risk to this nation -

These are the same people that ask our soldiers to go off and fight (and give their lives in necessary) yet back here on the home front they will sell them down the river and put in power the ilk of the anti-American, anti-military, anti-success on the WOT Democrat party - Just because they do not agree with this POTUS on a few issues (mostly just one).

There are times where it is completely fine to be self-absored in one's own narrow political views and from there step away from one's party. But this is clearly not one of those times in our nation's history. We are at war.

The ilk of the Democrat party cannot be allowed to hold a majority in any branch of Gov't during this War -

Our soldiers alone deserve better.

Trolls or fanatical purists willing to give up the Republic over a single issue.

I see it simple: the choice is between the 'rats or the Republicans. Having been a 'rat, I can speak from experience: they're pathetic, never satisfied with socialism--they always want MORE, and despise freedom.

Now that I'm a Republican, I can see flaws in the party, but generally that is in the leadership--not the rank and file. The rank and file can change the leadership. Compare that to the Democrats: the rank and file and their leadership might as well be openly Marxist.

We cannot let them take over, we MUST defeat them in every election. With all its warts, the Republican party is by far a better choice than the Democrats.

When the Republicans lose their majority because of their treason with our borders, and then the Democrats do the same, we might actually have our borders secure in 5 years.

I don't vote party, and never will. Republicans, in particular George W. Bush, don't get away with lying to me about our borders. And what about Welfare Reform, Tax Reform, and all the other promises made?

I WILL vote for candidates that promise secure borders, even they are Pelosi, and the rest of the socialists.

KJO my friend, it's not as if four years of a Dem pres would wake folks up, and we would then get a solid conservative that would win an election.

The Dems would work to ensure that we would NEVER win another election.

Think Justice Dept, CIA, court appointees, etc.

They don't really like dissent, and they have ways of going after it. (Imagine no F.R!)

As a practical matter in politics, you can expect only a fraction of what you really want. If you get too insistent on getting 100%, you get nothing.

.

Tag Line Alpha

Democrats - - the party of blames, lies, accusations, and subversion. The once great party of Roosevelt now chooses Stalin.

I will have to hold my nose and vote for Mike Dewine here in Ohio. I voted for Perot in 1992 as a protest against GHWB... I learned my lesson.

The problem with Republican lawmakers is that they interpret low poll numbers as a need to be more like Democrats, rather than a need to be more Conservative.

But I can not deny in any manner or any next day our nation run again by Rats would be a disaster of the highest order.

Bottom line is we have to work harder to elect conservatives within the Republican party because giving it over to the Rats
would not fix any problems and would hasten the demise of this great nation.

See tagline. I will vote for a conservative Republican. I will not vote for a RINO--under any circumstances.

Case in point--I will not vote for Tom Kean Jr in NJ if he's the nominee for Senate. The man is a liberal and of my top three issues, he's on the other side. We don't need another Specter/Chafee/McCainiac in the Senate.

The RINOs in NJ have destroyed the party here and routinely sabotage conservative campaigns. Turn about is fair play, and in this case, it's an instance of short-term pain for long-term gain.

Their " Shame " is MY Shame.

Sad but true.

" It isn't the things that you DO...but rather the Things that you leave UN-DONE...that give you a bit of heart ache..at the setting of the sun."--Famous Poet--but I don't do autographs.

"WE" are the ones to Blame--if anyone. Right?

( No!..No..No! this is NOT like a Clavin & Hobbs Cop-out one liner!! " MOM! you should have KNOWN not to let me alone for even a minute!!"..)

But "WE" should have know to keep TRACK of not just WHO we have " Batter' UP!!" but WHO is NEXT ON DECK!!

"WE" do NOT HAVE a " Next on Deck " to use as leverage AND a Threatening Push to keep Those Conservatives who do go off the path in line!!!

And then again--maybe--just like the Romans--"WE" held our " REPRESENTATIVES " too Highly and left By Themsleves!---Because we alos Held our Own Ideals TOO HIGHLY !!

Thinking that the High IDEALS of :

--Protecting our SECURITY : ei.- Boarders, Illegal imm.

--STICKING UP for Our President during attacks!!-not
ever thinking Rep. Senators & House would care about
themsleves FIRST!!

---SAYING WHAT YOU MEAN!!--even IF it could mean being
Voted DOWN! Translated: Losing YOUR own Power & Prestige.

No--"WE" are to blame really--WE expected Too MUCH from them--and did not re-inforce in THEM the point that IF YOU STAND STRONG!! We WILL stand with you!!

MAYBE they "thought" too--like Elitist democrats--that they were AUTOMATICALLY going to get Voted in by proxy of no-one ELSE is running to challenge them!

But "WE" also never told them too--you CAN be FIRED!!--BUT--We WILL stand with YOU--IF you stand with the WHYS we voted you all in inthe first place.

( Except for those who " Changed Color " AFTER being voted in!! can YOU say, " TRAITOR!!" boys and girls!!)

DAB

p.s.--when was the last time I saw any of YOU at a PW rally in NYC? SAN DIEGO?? D.C.??

Trolls or fanatical purists willing to give up the Republic over a single issue.

You are kidding yourself if you think this is over a single issue. This over McCain/Feingold, Prescription Drug Benefit, Corruption, Exploding Growth of Federal Government, failure to enact Social Security reform, failure to enact tax-reform - in other words - complete abandonment of conservative principles.

Keep kidding yourself and thinking that the Republican party will start behaving responsibly - it's not going to happen unless they pay a severe price for their incompetence.

How you really vote and what message you should be sending now are two different things. They want to lead by poll? Use polls to direct them by answering to get what you want. Politicians should live in trembling fear of losing votes. Telling them (via polls) that you are with them no matter what will accomplish...nothing.

The less often this is spelled out, the better.

There is no such thing as a "Republican" or "Democrat" way of thinking engraved in stone. FDR would have called the current crop of Democrats traitors and I would vote for a Zell Miller.

However, the great majority of voters will vote Republican or Democrat out of force of habit so voting for a third Party merely puts the unsplit party in the White House. That is how we ended up with Bill and Hillary Clinton in the White House.

It is foolish to throw out the Party "brand loyalty" that will automatically get you 70% of your voters on Election Day. If you do that, the Democrats will be handing out U.S. citizenship papers and Democrat Voter Registration Cards at the Rio Grande.

If the current crop of incumbents is failing miserably, the solution is not to leave the Republican Party but to thrown them out of Republican Party office.

Any Republican primary candidate that makes stopping illegal immigration a priority will do very well on Election Day and has an excellent chance of unseating the current Republican Congresscritter who is soft on the issue.

Don't leave the Republican Party.

CHANGE IT!

I mean this in the nicest possible way - but you are a fool to believe any change can be accomplished through the primaries. Check the statistics - primaries are only meaningful for selecting a challenger or an open-seat. They are completely ineffective for removing an incumbent.

When the left gains power again, they will not let loose. Many follow the Chomsky like dictum that "some things are just two important for a democratic process". What I am saying is if you let them dominate, you may well not be able to vote them back out. Look at how they have come to dominate the universities and bureaucracy (State, CIA, Justice, etc.).

Place the blame where it belongs! Squarely on a bunch of Republicans who have lost their way and are now giving in to democrats. IF they lose the majority it won't be the fault of the voter taxpayers it will be their own fault!

They are falling into a trap set by the socialists and they are running scared like wimps and giving in to pass the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill. That will be their downfall not voters.

I'll add that there are certain Republican incumbants that I am actively trying to help defeat in the primaries. Chris Cannon of Utah is at the top of my list. If that gives the Democrats a better chance in the general election, too bad.
