That's the thing. African culture is joyous and exuberant--as anyone who has ever been to a traditional African ritual, or even a Sunday service at a black church, can tell you.

Islamic culture, on the other hand, is sullen and bitter. It is the polar opposite of anything African.

This is happening in the US as well. Many many Iranians Muslims have converted to Christianity... converting is not the word though...it's more like being liberated from. I know a few. Wow is all I can say. Their faith is amazing.

This is one reason I believe the Islamist don't want to lose in Iraq and Afghanistan. A open society means people might not choose Islam. And recent numbers indicate there have been one million converts to Christianity in those two countries.

A dear friend and mentor, now at rest, was a missionary to Africa. She showed videos of tens of thousands(!) of people coming to outdoor services (in Nigeria, and other countries). Some would begin walking the day before.

She saw "loaves and fishes/burning bush"-type miracles there. It would take too long to describe, at my still-pathetic typing rate. Real mind-blowing stuff. A certain Someone apparently has a real vested interest in the place.

I've heard it said many times that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the US, but I think such an assertion is based on statistical manipulation based on the miniscule base of Muslims and is expressed in %. As such the number is essentially meaningless. Some cult somewhere that increased its membership from 2 to 20 would have 1000% growth, yet would remain insignificant.

Islam is still an exceedingly miniscule religion in the US, and could only grow by immigration. Thank goodness we aren't Europe. Now, THEY do have a problem.

In terms of raw converts and new members I am very sure that Christianity is way outpacing Islam in the USA.

Actually that is a bit of a misnomer.

There are estimates of 1 to 7 million muslims in the US. Take the mean(3.5 million) that is appx. a little over 1% of the population.

Any increase will be bigger percentage(i.e faster growth rate) wise because muslims are really a small part of the US population.

Good news. Many people think that the future of the world could be determined, in part, by which religion wins the race to convert Africa, Christianity or Islam.

I'm hopeful that this news is true. But it's probably only true in countries where the Muslims are not in control of things. Wherever they are in control, the penalty of converting from Islam is death. And wherever they have substantial numbers, they spend a good deal of energy killing Christians. So it will be a real struggle.
