Falwell says would support Sen. McCain in 2008
KVOA News 4, Tucson, Arizona ^ | 5/8/06

WASHINGTON The Reverend Jerry Falwell has thrown his support -- but not quite his endorsement -- behind Senator John McCain if he runs for president in 2008.

Falwell calls McCain "the kind of conservative candidate whom I would have little trouble supporting" and "one of America's most profound heroes."
Still, he says that's not an endorsement of a McCain candidacy.

Falwell wrote in a column in Sunday's The New York Times that McCain hasn't asked for an endorsement and he hasn't offered one.

I've never stayed home on election day.
I never vote for a Democrat.

If McCain is the candidate, I'll stay home. He's crazy.

Let's see, who would I rather have for president: hillary clinton, John McCain, or Jerry Falwell?

None of the above, thank you very much.

So, Pinch Sulzberger, Jerry Falwell, and John McCain are having a Lovefest. The odd trio.

Pinch and his band of Democrat enablers are just using McCain like they have so many times before. If they get enough Conservatives to "sit it out" they win.

I think you will be able to distinguish between the two. However, I haven't given up yet and don't think it's a given that McCain will win the nomination. However, if enough people are convinced he's unstoppable (as the MSM hopes) he may just end up with the nomination because Conservatives will be so whipped. I find it interesting that George Allen is being slimed as a neo-Confederate now. What is it the MSM really fears from Allen? Not that he's a neo-Confed bigot but that he's a consensus candidate that the GOP can get behind.

The world should run from John McCain. Think something weird happened to him in that POW camp. He mucks up everything and stands for nothing any more. That's a very dangerous man to entrust the presidency to--might as well get a democrat if we're going to do something that shameful.

Pinch and McCain have always loved one another. But it's a bit odd to see Jerry Falwell invited to join the party. Anything to split the Republicans. Next thing you know, Pinch will be giving the commencement speech at Bob Jones University.

Exactly and from the looks of things around here, that job is being done. Now, I'll just wait for someone to inform me that it's all Bush's fault the Republicans are split becuase of (fill in the special interest blank of your choice) :-)

What McCain says and what
McCain does are miles apart.
McCain would be out to
capture the disillusioned
Democrat voters; and there
are plenty of those just as
there are of Republican voters.
McCain's votes in the Senate
are frequently alined with
Kennedy/Kerry. He votes
on his own side of the aisle
just enough to retain the label
Republican...RINO.

Accordingly, McCain was a lackluster student and received many demerits. He graduated in 1958, and joked that he had followed the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both of whom had graduated very low in their respective classes at Annapolis. (McCain graduated 894th out of a class of 899.)

From Wikipedia.   Certainly sounds like presidential timper, huh?

The MSM knows Allen is the man of the conservative base that will determine the nominee. Try as they might, McCain will not be the nominee. He's been AWOL on Arizonas border for as long as he's been in the senate. He opposed the Bush tax cut agenda that helped set this economy on fire. He stepped all over the 1st amndt. with CFR. He constantly bashes evengelicals when in front of an adoring press, yet now wants back in their good graces. We are not that easily fooled and forgetful.

Yes. Plus he's the sterling pilot who managed to crash five of his own planes. His class ranking was a pretty good predictor of his military career, I'd say.

No one would want to be a prisoner in Vietnam. But his claim to being a war hero is very questionable, indeed, especially since he used his military service and his political position (gained by dumping his faithful wife and marrying a rich dope addict) to betray his fellow POW/MIAs.

What concerns me the most are not the Republicans who vote in the primaries but the independents and cross-overs. Why does any party allow non-members to vote in their primary? Anyway, it didn't work to stop Bush and hopefully it won't work to nominate McCain.

Cross overs and independents cannot vote in a primary that is not of their own party in florida. It varies by state.

I'll admit I am a McCain supporter.

However he does not refer to himself as a war hero- he states it took no heroism to be shot down.
Now its possible that this is false humility only to get people to think he is even more a hero. If so Kerry would have been more sucessful with that tactic.

I couldn't disagree more! The whole point with CFR is to ensure an even playing field. Today, it takes megabucks even to run for state or local offices...time was in America, that a candidate for state and local office could pay his/her election fee, get a couple of friends together for backing, make up some signs and run. The best man/woman with the best message won--and not the one with the most money. The political process has run amok and the current process stinks. It shouldn't take a million dollars to run for Congress or to head a state as govenor.
I am fully aware of the argument that most conservatives make about the right to free speech--but it is my belief that money is not speech and I'm tired of seeing groups like the Christian Coalition, NOW, NARAL, NRA, AFD, etc. (far right and left) groups deciding who is worthy to be a candidate.

Hillary thanks you...as for me, I vote my country when confronted with two candidates I really don't want--as in Gore (a pampered pol's son with weird ecological ideas who excused atrocious behavior by his president) or Kerry (an extreme liberal who gave aid and comfort to America's enemies while we were at war) and Bush (a hard-partying and spoiled rich kid who joined the ANG to avoid Vietnam). I voted to Bush (twice) with nose firmly held.

So why is he their Commencement Speaker at Liberty this year? McLame is a political prostitute, and please let me explain the facts so that what I said isn't considered name calling. In the past McLame has compared Falwell to Farrakhan. Quite the conversion from John, but then again, maybe Farrakhan had him visit the mother ship and he saw the error of his ways. McLame would do anything to become President, and his NEW embrace of Falwell says more than I ever could.

Don't get me started... Just yesterday I was sitting in the rain, listening to a re-enactor playing the part of Gen. Lee in his farewell address to the Army of Northern Virgina. I cried at the though of such a great general surrendering to avoid more pain to his troops, and surrendering to a butcher who sent many of his men to their death because he knew they were replaceable while the Confederacy was running out of men!
