"The Republican party is doing just fine"
_____________________________

Then why are the poll numbers so bad? Even here at FR the poll numbers are bad for pubbies.

The GOP is NOT doing fine...it is failing miserably as the article notes, and this failure will lead to GOP doom in November unless they turn around.

The polls are now saying what you’ve known for months. The Republican Party is in trouble. President Bush is in trouble. The Republican majorities in both houses of Congress are in trouble.

OK everybody. Slowly count backwards from 10. 10.....9.......8.....7........

Now, relax and repeat after me; "I'm a Republican, and I hate Bush."

OK. Very good. Do it again.

"I am a Republican, and I hate Bush."

Great. Now, keep reading the thousands hate Bush articles posted on FR, and keep repeating that to yourself "I'm a Republican, and I hate Bush." We'll have Bush and the Republicans out of power in no time!!!!

I voted Libertarian in 2004.

Most conservatives voted for Bush in 2004, despite his massive spending increases during his first term. Most conservatives are loyal to Bush no matter what he does.

"Unless it bends over backwards and somehow convinces repeatedly burned conservatives that it can be trusted. Unfortunately, it seems that the president and the Congress are working overtime to do exactly the opposite.

It seems that the Republican Party is going out of its way to give conservatives the finger. It seems that the calculus of the party is misguided, and that it sees currying favor with the 50 percent who’ve always opposed it as the pathway to success."

The line about giving the conservatives the finger is dead-nuts-on. If I wanted a Democrat, I would vote for a real one, not a phony Republican make over Democrat look alike!

You don't get it.

It's incredible how those lockstep with the President believe that conservatives are really leftist, moveon.org type trolls.

Only a very liberal Republican would be utterly satisfied with everything the President has done.

I think President Bush is a good man; but a conservative he is not.

Blame the politicians...not the voters if that comes to fruition.

If you dont want to fight for it, then enjoy having nothing. No one is going to give you a win because you can cut and run.

One of the problems with too many conservatives is that, once the election is over, they sit back and expect its all suppose to run itself. While the libs stay on the DNC rear 24/7, win or lose. that's the biggest reason why you get what you see today.

Well I think he has done a fine job a packing the Federal courts with conservatives, something Bush I or Reagan failed to do. That's the real long term benefit. You can't have everything.

And they're not supporting your party? Shouldn't your FR screen name really be "Disgrundled?"

Repeat after me......"I'm a Republican, and I hate Bush."

Again. All together now. Do it for the press. They've invested a lot in this : "I'm a Republican, and I hate Bush."

VERY good. Just keep up the anti-Bush hate. It's very good. Hissssssssssssssss.

I would like to know what part B of this master plan for conservative domination that alot of these guys think they have. They want the GOP out because "they are no different than Democrats". OK, if that happens, then what? Do you have the power to make us all immune from all the guarented wackiness thats will come from the DNC? Can I keep my taxes at the level they are now? Will the WOT be funded? You cant promise that with a Dem majority and a group of self satisfied conservatives that found proving a point to be the #1 issue on their minds.

There is one key element to the article that can not be denied.

Bush did not get into office with a landslide. He squeked in. And he did so because a lot of people were rounded up to vote for the man. The round up of the base was very impressive.

I did not work to get Bush elected in order to have him give my country away to the Mexicans. I never believed he would so blantly ignore the law. I honestly thought he was a man of principle who believed in the law. What a sucker I am.

It won't take many bitterly dissappointed Republicans sitting out an election to put the dims back in the majority.

The elected republicans, by their actions, are handing the majority to the dims.

YES! THAT'S IT! Follow the press. They feel your pain. They are your friends. Keep reading the hate Bush posts. It's for your own good.

Follow the democrats. They know. You hate Bush. I hate Bush. Everyone hates Bush. We all hate Bush.

YES! Keep going! Tell all your friends! Tell your neighbors! Type in on every thread! Do it! Do it!

Illegal immigration.

The president has done on immigration exactly as he campaigned and exactly as written in the Republican Party Platform. Go check it out at GOP.com.

Militarily weakened

Horse puckey. The president has stuck by his guns on supporting our troops. The nation's only problem with this war is the 5th column in the media and the Democratic side of the aisle.
