Surely you mean FDNY?

> Personally, I think execution would have been too kind for this man...especially since he was trying to off himself in the first place. I think he's getting the worst punishment this country has to offer.

Personally, I'd rather see him swing. In the good ol' cowboy days, this would not even be a matter of serious debate. Rope is cheap enough, and gravity is free, and it would all be over in about 20 minutes...

Society has come along way, but I'm not quite sure all of it can be called Progress.

Didn't someone here on FR predict this when Moussaoui first made the guilty plea?

Dude is in his mid-thirties. Short of something drastic happening, by the time he dies everybody on this board will either be dead or too old to care when Moussaoui finally kicks off.

I hope somebody puts a camera on him

I like it. We could sell advertising too. The ads could buy more bullets for the troops in afghanistan.

I'd watch. The schadenfreud experience would be well worth it.

Yes, remember that infinitely more terrorists have been KILLED by Bush policies than by Clinton policies, since I don't recall that the Clintonistas managed to kill ANY terrorists (the ones who did themselves in via suicide bombings, etc. don't count). I'd rather not see any prosecutions on the list if we could just get on with killing the vermin....

I agree, somehting will happen, either the Brits will insist he be taken to the uk and get another trial or some security guard will make him put panties on his head, that will leak out and well, he could escape.

Bush has had the same position on immigration since the 2000 election.

Was it immigration or culture re-building into the "new America"?

THE "NEW AMERICAN"

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

You can read the speech here.

Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:

In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on.
