"I am not sure I have ever read a more incoherent rant on FR before."

Do you ever read what you post?

I do. Can you point to a specific post, or is this an ad hominem attack because I find this article incoherent?

""There is nothing inherently conservative about a willingness to wage war.""

True. Witness the fact that Hillary supports the current war, as does Andrew Sullivan, Christopher Hitchens, Joe Biden and Joe Lieberman -- none of whom is a conservative in my book.

Meanwhile, opponents of the Iraq invasion include Tom Clancy, Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and (belatedly) Wm F Buckley Jr. -- none of whom is a "liberal" or "leftist" in may book.

In other words, supporting war doesn't make you conservative, and opposing a war doesn't necessarily make you liberal. It depends on the war. The current war wasn't necessary for American national interest. Clancy saw that at the outset. Buckley has realized it over time.

Oh, I see you're forgetting that Saddam's intelligence agents met with OBL. That OBL told Saddam what was coming on 9/11. That Saddam likely sold the anthrax used in October 2001 to the terrorists. That Saddam was training terrorists to take control of airplanes in the exact same way as happened on 9/11.

And you just don't mind that CBS reported that Iraqi Intelligence officers planted a sleeper cell (at least one) in the United States. The man is now under arrest and Iraqi agents are cooperating.

And your apparent disregard that Saddam trained 8,000 terrorists just before the war is duly noted. Terrorists who were planning strikes in the US.

Oh, and you didn't notice that Atta was in Prague, after all.

Records found in Iraq dated ten months before 9/11 indicates that Saddam Hussein’s employees clandestinely met Taliban and al Qaeda agents regarding a “decision to operate.”

And that terrorist attack thwarted in Jordan which would have killed tens of thousands -- the money and training of those terrorists came from Iraq.

And the bomber in the '93 WTC bombing received monthly payments from Saddam and lived in Baghdad.

But never mind all that. And more. Because you're Neville Chamberlain and an EXPERT, and absolute EXPERT, at turning a blind eye to gathering danger. Fool.

Sure I mind. Like I mind that there are thousands of Red Chinese agents in the US, and probably hundreds - if not thousands - of Cuban agents here. Probably a lot of North Korean agents too. they should be rounded up and sent packing, and we should retaliate, but I don't favor invading those countries.

This guy is practising an old con trick of mixing contradictory adjectives with conventional descriptive terms and creating an upside down false argument both for and against various causes.
His technique works best on gullible uninformed types who are not quick to notice that he is performing verbal "flim flam".

If all that I had posted was true of the Chinese, you can be darned sure we wouldn't just sit around waiting to be attacked. Does the Neville Chamberlain School of Appeasement hand out degrees or did it all just come naturally to you?

Ouch! Well and truly stated, Peach. The 'and more' would be too much for such an poster. [Moosad has much more, but that won't end up being posted at FR.]

Thank you. And you're right about the Moosad. Even Russia, who was opposed to the war, gave us intelligence that they had that Saddam intended to strike the US.

What you are describing are the costs associated with making it look like creating democracy is really the goal. It aggravates me too that we aren't more aggressive.
