Mary Cheney Considered Quitting 2004 Campaign Over Gay Marriage Issue
ABC News ^ | May 3, 2006

She says she considered quitting her role as campaign adviser over the issue of gay marriage, but Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Mary Cheney tells ABC News "Primetime" anchor Diane Sawyer her sexuality has never created problems within her family.

Mary Cheney discussed the campaign, her feelings about President Bush, life with her partner of 14 years, and what it was like to come out as gay to her parents.

"I struggled with my decision to stay on the 2004 campaign," Cheney told "Primetime." Her personal challenge came when President Bush said the nation must defend the sanctity of marriage.

Do you believe the homosexual lifestyle is a good thing?

Homosexuals really hate human life

Self indulgence, as manifested by the above keyboard pounding excrescence, may not be a "sin" (we atheists don't use that term), but it is a character flaw (some of us atheists use that term). You give atheists a bad name. Can't you find some religion to hew too?

This is a very complex issue.

Check this out

This looks like, once again, junk science. Every study, and I do mean every single study on a gay gene or biological factors for homosexuality (behavior) have been debunked.

From the article, somebody who wasn't part of the team said:

The important thing is to be open to the likely situation that there are biological factors that contribute to sexual orientation.
And we have to look at all the evidence, which includes studies on ex-gays. Besides that, we already know biology contributes to sexual orientation. People who understand the issues realize this doesn't mean homosexuality is innate. The issue is what and how little linkage and association really means. But you won't read that from somebody pushing the homosexual agenda.

Also, this study assumes humans respond to pheromones which is far from being decided.

ROFLMAO! :-)

Plus, I find that it acts as some compensation for my tragically small penis.

Naw, I just find passing judgement on other people and how they choose or don't choose to live their lives enormous fun...it makes me feel better about myself and my own diminished position in society.

LOL - how does that go? Those with eyes to see and ears to ear - let them see and hear(g)

Do you consider the homosexual lifestyle a human weakness? Or is it a good thing?

Friend, all you got is ad hominem. As such, your end of the debate looks like the loser.

Take a good look in the mirror, pal

I guess that makes me a bigot because I think Michael Jackson should be in prison for molesting boys in the privacy of his bedroom.

I don't know what the "homosexual lifestyle" is -- I have had many gay friends and business associates over the years. They've had all different kinds of "lifestyles."

And some people choose to focus on others' sins and do nothing about their own.

People have a right to do that when said person parades their sins publicly and tells everyone that their vile behavior is perfectly fine--and that they'll eventually force you to accept and celebrate it under the law.

When I start doing that with my sins, I give you permission to be upset.

You're quibbling.

Mary Cheney by her own admission has an active homosexual relationship with another woman. Do you believe such relationships are a good thing? Should we as a society encourage and celebrate such relationships?

And what defines a marriage -- gubmint recognition or the blessing of clergy?
"Laws are made for the government of actions, and while they cannot interfere with mere religious belief and opinions, they may with practices... "

[Reynolds v. United States, 98 U.S. 145, 8 Otto 145, 24 L. Ed. 244 (1878).]

See also: Late Corporation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints v. United States, 136 U.S. 1, 10 S.Ct. 792, 34 L. Ed. 478 (1890). Revised as 140 U.S. 665, 11 S.Ct. 884, 35 L. Ed. 592 (1891).

No man can become a law unto himself under the guise of freedom in religion...

Marriage is a religious rite, not a civil right. It is a privileged practice that requires a license.
