Glenn Beck LIVE!
An American In Turkiye
Posted on 05/08/2006 4:51:12 PM PDT by An American in Turkiye
45 minutes into it. So far, it's alright. Not as funny as his radio show. Funniest part was him wolfing down a big mac and almost losing it.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to try to catch the 9PM re-run while working out. I've been looking forward to this show for at least 3 or 4 days now.

That's what I thought. I liked about half the show, the other half was terrible. I liked the interviews, I loved the faked commercial but I hated his hand moving constantly, he talked way too fast for TV AND...on TV...he doesn't need to explain his jokes all the way through. In radio, we don't have the benefit of visuals so he can get away with talking so much. But on TV...let the visuals speak for themselves.
I'll watch it again tomorrow. I just didn't like all the explaining and I could do with about half the talking.

I saw most of the first part. I thought it was OK. Not that great. Kinda reminds me why I didn't really care for his radio show although what they replaced him with here (WGST) is far worse.

I'd rather watch the test pattern than Shep.

No, he's on CNN Headline News. It repeats at 9 Eastern (if you don't watch '24' that is).
To: rightwingintelligentsia
It also repeats at midnight.
I saw the 7pm show. I thought it was pretty good. He needs a few weeks to get used to doing it.
His voice seemed "forced" and not as laid back as on the radio show. I think he was a bit nervous being his first show.
Best Bits:
1)Chowing down greasy burgers during interview
2)Gregory Itzin from 24, especially the campaign commercials
Tomorrow night I won't be home until 8pm (just in time for the Idol thread) and House is on at 9pm so I'll have to stay up until midnight. Ouch!

What happened with Shep? I have been reading lots of FReepers complaining about him. I must have missed what he did.

Yep, I'll take Glenn over Shep. I thought the funniest part of the show was where Glenn interviewed President Logan from "24".
What Beck's show has going for it is originality. Like the show or not, it's different from the other news/personality shows on cable T.V.

Shep didn't do a thing. He's such a drama queen that it's irksome.

Thanks but I don't get it
I went down to just Basic Cable because I was sick of paying $93.00 per month for Standard UpGrade plus cable Internet
Besides summer time I don't watch much TV
However I will on vacation next week so does he come on every night or once a week?
I can try and catch him

LOL! Yeah, you're right about that.

I liked the campaign commercials for Logan, pro and con.
That's the kind of thing that Beck does best, parody, and he probably needs to include more "bits" like that in his show. Stu's head in the fish bowl was a good gag too.
My husband wants him to do "More on Trivia" on the show, LOL. Don't think that'll happen.
I found the beginning part a little frenetic and too "talky." But just like any show, they'll tweak it.
I really liked the camera work...it was different and interesting.

The show needs some work. He needs to get the show more concise during the segments and better flow on the segues. He's a pro. I think he and his staff will do what they need to do to make it work.
On a personal note, I like Glenn Beck a lot. I hope he succeeds on TV as he has in radio.

Glenn needs to slow down and trust his comic instincts. Presently, his comments seem a bit forced. I wish him well because I love his radio show.
