Well, Atlanta is a big city. Is this event somewhere in the Capital of Georgia, or specifically at the Capital Building?

Minutemen Caravan Rally at GA Capitol Today!

Let's show the minutemen that we support them...

Let's show the Minutemen STRONG support ( and strong support for G.W. and Congressional Republicans in November) AFTER G.W. comes out POSITIVELY for their efforts ........ and after he also says DIRECTLY that they are not vigilantes.

Yes, yes, to you FReepers who proclaim he never said that ....... I say he certainly suggested it.

These Minutemen are doing the right thing. It's time for G.W. to come up with AT LEAST the right language concerning their efforts. What do you say?

U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols
By Sara A. Carter, Staff Writer

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are.

According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Officials with the Mexican consulate in Washington, D.C., could not be reached for comment Monday.

Martinez said reporting the location of immigrant apprehensions to consulate representatives is common practice if an illegal immigrant requests counsel or believes they have been mistreated.

"Once an illegal alien is apprehended, they can request counsel," he said. "We have to give their counsel the information about their apprehension, and that includes where they are apprehended, whether a Minuteman volunteer spotted them or a citizen."

Martinez said Mexico's official perception of the civilian groups is that they are vigilantes, a belief the Border Patrol hoped to allay by entering into the cooperative agreement.

One of the documents on the Web site, "Actions of the Mexican Government in Relation to the Activities of Vigilante Groups," states that Mexican consulate representatives stay in close contact with Border Patrol chiefs to ensure the safety of migrants trying to enter the U.S., those being detained and the actions of all "vigilantes" along the border.

"The Mexican consul in Presidio also contacted the chief of the Border Patrol in the Marfa Sector to solicit his cooperation in case they detect any activity of `vigilantes,' and was told to immediately contact the consulate if there was," according to the document.

"Presidio" refers to Presidio County, Texas, which is in the Big Bend region and a gateway to northern Mexico.

The document also describes a meeting with San Diego Border Patrol sector chief Darryl Griffen.

"(Griffen) said that the Border Patrol will not permit any violence or any actions contrary to the law by the groups, and he is continuously aware of (the volunteer organizations') operations," according to the document. "Mr. Griffen reiterated to the undersecretary his promise to notify the General Consul right away when the vigilantes detain or participate in the detention of any undocumented Mexicans."

The documents specifically named the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps and its patrols, which began monitoring Arizona's southern border in April 2005, as well as Friends of the Border Patrol, a Chino-based nonprofit.

TJ Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing more than 10,000 Border Patrol agents, said agents have complained for years about the Mexican consulate's influence over the agency.

"It worries me (that the Mexican government) seems to be unduly influencing our enforcement policies. That's not a legitimate role for any foreign nation," Bonner said, though he added, "It doesn't surprise me."

Border Patrol agents interviewed by the Daily Bulletin said they have been asked to report to sector headquarters the location of all civilian volunteer groups, but to not file the groups' names in reports if they spot illegal immigrants.

"Last year an internal memo notified all agents not to give credit to Minuteman volunteers or others who call in sightings of illegal aliens," said one agent, who spoke on the condition he not be identified. "We were told to list it as a citizen call and leave it at that. Many times, we were told not to go out to Minuteman calls."

The document also mentions locations of field operations of Friends of the Border Patrol, which patrolled the San Diego sector from June to November 2005. Mexican officials had access to the exact location of the group founded by Andy Ramirez, which ran its patrols from the Rough Acre Ranch, a private property in McCain Valley.

Ramirez said that for safety reasons, he disclosed the location of his ranch patrol only to San Diego Border Patrol and law enforcement officials. The group did not apprehend or spot any undocumented migrants in that area.

"We did not release this information ... to the media or anyone else," Ramirez said. "We didn't want to publicize that information. But there it is, right on the Mexican government's Web site, and our government gave it to them."

Minutemen make stop in Nashville
By Christine Buttorff, News Correspondent
May 09, 2006

Midway through a two-week tour of 13 cities in the South and Southwest, the Minutemen Caravan Project stopped at Nashville’s War Memorial Plaza Monday night. The group aims to stop illegal immigration, and has been patrolling the Arizona/Mexico border periodically for over a year.

Nearly 200 people attended Monday’s rally.

“I bought my house 16 years ago and never thought I’d buy into the third world,” said Tim Williams, an auto mechanic from Madison. He expressed frustration at the number of immigrants in Madison, who, he said, have their own “cash economy.”

The construction industry was fingered as a primary culprit by many attendees of the rally, because they accuse the industry of continuing to hire illegal immigrants. “Businesses should stop hiring them,” said another Madison resident, David Meister.

Raymond Herrera is one of the Minutemen who was on the border patrol and is now traveling with the tour. He was a carpenter until he lost his job 15 years ago, and his two sons are now carpenters in California. Herrera said neither of them could find jobs because the contractors would rather hire cheap, illegal immigrant workers.

“They’ve destroyed my life and now they’re destroying my sons’,” Herrera said. He said the federal congressional proposals to give amnesty to illegal immigrants is a “smokescreen,” and that the laws on the books need to be enforced.

While most of the crowd was sympathetic to the cause of the Minutemen, a few hovering in the background were not. Raymond Casares, a spokesman for the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, agreed that particular industries seem to be feeding the cash or underground economies: “Construction trades have been rife with that practice.”

But Casares said that America needs to “bring [illegal immigrants] out of the shadows so they can contribute.”

The Minuteman Caravan Project began May 3 in Los Angeles and will end May 12 at a rally in Washington, D.C.

Ack, I thought you had been pinged earlier on this.... not by me but by someone else...

Okay, latest report in from Mr. Stucky in the pace car:

They had a great rally in Birmingham, sponsored by an active MM chapter there. There was lots of press on hand and an AP photographer was snapping photos!!

Some important information to keep in mind:

The gathering points that are marked as TBA will be changed to solid locations as we move along the caravan route. For the most recent updates, visit our Caravan Coordinators webpage www.pollyannpro.com and click on “Caravan” on the left side of your screen. She will be updating here daily while on route.

When you reach a gathering point at the scheduled time and the Caravan is not there, please wait for them! Chances are they were held up in traffic, or needed a little longer rest in the morning due to a late night of driving…they will arrive shortly.

If you miss us at one stop, keep going to the next stop. The Caravan will probably be traveling a little slower than the rest of the traffic and you will either catch up, or meet them at the next gathering point.

Remember to dress patriotic, decorate your vehicle, and bring flags and signs!

Things that are always welcome at rallies and gathering points: food, snacks and bottled water for the Minuteman Caravan participants, gas gift cards, cash or check donations, and folding chairs for the elderly and physically impaired.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND that your participation in the Caravan is your donation. If you plan on joining us on the drive to Washington DC, please budget for your own gas, food, and lodging. If we are fortunate enough to receive gas cards and donated food, they will be passed out amongst
those going to DC to help defer their costs.

Before the Caravan comes to your town, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MEDIA! Call in on talk shows, email and call television stations! If you belong to a car, RV or motorcycle group, invite them to join us! Email your family and friends! Get the word out! We have had tons of emails from people
who heard about the rallies AFTER they saw it on their local news. By then it was too late for them to be able to join us! Let’s make sure everyone knows we’re coming before we get there!

We will not have the ability while on the road to answer individual queries, so please keep checking the www.pollyannpro.com site and the www.minutemanproject.com for the most recent road updates!

Onward to Washington DC!!

SPREAD THE WORD!

Just saw Tom Tancredo on Fox News. Said the border patrol more than likely had been given orders by someone to inform the Mexican Officials of the Minutemen's whereabouts. He said only 2 possibilities existed for this action-both bad. Both have to do with stopping the Minutemen from doing their job. So, who ordered the border patrol to SPY????

Tancredo didn't know, but he was QUITE certain they were ordered to do so. Everybody just needs to keep the pressure on, so Tancredo finds out. Make sure to send emails to Senators, Congressman, news media, or whatever, and ask what the heck is going on here?
