Kosovo consternation
The Washington Times ^ | 9 May 2006 | James "Ace" Lyons, Jr.

Among the most important priorities of U.S. global policy is combating the international traffic in drugs and in persons (often a euphemism for women and children forced into prostitution).

Because of the linkage and overlap among terrorist networks and organized criminal gangs, the battle against trafficking is also an integral part of the war on terror.

Amazingly, that's what the international community seems to want to help establish in the Serbian province of Kosovo. When Kosovo was placed under United Nations administration and NATO military control at the end of the 1999 war, some hoped the province soon would meet at least minimum qualifications for some kind of independence, as demanded by Muslim Albanians who greatly outnumber the remaining Christian Serbs.

That hasn't happened. Instead the drug, sex slave, weapons, money-laundering, and other illicit trades that helped fuel the conflicts of the 1990s have continued to grow.

This was a war we should have let Europe handle alone.

But Europe was supporting appeasement of "genocidal" Serbs by such cowardly Munich like peace compromises. See:

Lisbon Agreement

[...] This Lisbon Agreement predated, crucially, the commencement of hostilities by a little more than a fortnight. On March 18, 1992, the three leaders agreed on a constitutional and administrative framework that would allow Bosnia a peaceful entry into the world. Concessions were made on all sides. While not a perfect solution, the agreement, which called for an independent Bosnia divided into three constituent, autonomous and geographically separate parts, was preferable to civil war.

Enter Warren Zimmerman. On March, 28 1992, Zimmerman met with Izetbegovic in Sarajevo. What was said and by whom remains unclear. Zimmerman denies that he told Izetbegovic that if he withdrew his signature, the United States would grant recognition to Bosnia as an independent state. What is indisputable is that Izetbegovic, that same day, withdrew his signature and renounced the agreement. Tucker and Hendrickson judge that "American diplomats acted in an extremely irresponsible manner if, as reported, they advised Izetbegovic to reject the Lisbon formula. If war was to be averted, an agreement respecting cantonization was the last step at which it might have been."
[...]

Europeans would leave Kosovo in Serbian hands!

The UN is trying to create an internationally sanctioned criminal state.

UN? You mean Russia and China?

"This too shall pass when peace and justice return to Kosovo alongside the Serbian Army."

Amen to that. It would be a wonderful thing if the Army of the Hellenic Republic were marching alongside!

This was a war we should have let Europe handle alone. It had no defensive reason to be fought by us.

Disagree. There were three perfectly good reasons for President Clinton to order U.S. military action in Kosovo:

1. Juanita Broaddrick

2. The Cox Report

3. Impeachment

"Was the war on Serbia the work of UN?"

THE OCCUPATION sure is!!

Kosovo was occupied by the NATO troops. It was divided into five occupation sectors: German sector in the south, US sector in the south east, British sector in the center, French sector in the north and Italian sector in the west.

The leading role belongs to US. The main military base is Camp Bondsteel, built on 750 acres of former farmland near Urosevic with a 6-mile perimeter and with thousands of US troops.

Russia which had arranged the compromise between NATO and Serbia, was denied any sector despite promises (NATO did not keep the deal). The compromise called for UN control and for the return of Serbian troops after stabilizing Kosovo and for Russian participation.

Russians managed to inject some troops and seized the Pristina airport. It almost led to the armed confrontation with British troops ordered to confront Russians by US general Clark. Fortunately British general refused to obey the orders.

Yes, but the UN ADMINISTERS the place. And as far as NATO is concerned... THE UN makes real good use of it's "services".

The decision to separate Kosovo will come from where .... wait for it.. the UN!!

I hate the UN so very very much. Don't you????

It is NATO which has real power in Kosovo.

The decision to separate Kosovo will come from where .... wait for it.. the UN!!

UN will rubber stamp what the great powers decide.

I hate the UN so very very much. Don't you????

You make UN a into scapegoat and then you hate it. UN is a glamorized debating society for the politicians and a cover for the international power game. It has some good uses and some bad. I neither hate it nor like it.

The UN's half-assed administration of Kosovo makes it complicit in the overall progrom to completely remove Serbs and erase Serbian culture from Kosovo, they are the political enforcement arm for muslim apologists. The UN is nothing more than a poorly run janitorial service for NATO.

Yes, that is why the responsibility is with NATO and not with the janitors.

The UN is there and partaking in what is going on. They are responsible as well; they are part of the problem. They are well-paid people allowing and greasing the wheels of the system. You can not let them off responsibility. As they are there in large numbers and for almost 7 years, they are guilty too.

Are you trying to apologize for the UN? The UN has f**ed up every endeavor of importance it has ever attempted, it is a completely corrupted political body.

NATO is just one part of the problem but you'd rather absolve the UN of any responsibility what so ever, give them a "get out of jail free" card. Dude, are you sure you're not a democrat?

NATO is in real charge in Kosovo. If UN ended its involvement over there what would it change? Please explain!

Dude, are you sure you're not a democrat?

(I am a paleo/social-conservative Independent). NATO involvement in former Yugoslavia is a bipartisan issue. It was started by Clinton administration (with Republican support) and is being continued now.
