WT/UPI ^

Posted on 05/11/2006 11:17:39 AM PDT by kronos77

Russian state-owned company Technopromexport has announced it will build a thermal power plant in Serbia within three years. The company Wednesday signed a contract with Serbia and Switzerland's Mentor Energy, company officials said. The construction of the plant, with two 450-megawatt blocks, is estimated to cost $877 million. Maja Gojkovich, mayor of the Serbian town Novi Sad, where the plant will be built, said the project will greatly benefit the economy of the town and the country, the RIA Novosti news agency reported. "It will provide work for 5,000 to 6,000 Serbs and guarantee orders for a number of Serbian businesses," she said. Technopromexport, a leading electricity exporter and builder of energy facilities, has a number of projects in foreign countries, including India, where it is participating in the construction of a thermal power plant and the upgrading of the Obra power plant. The company also plans to win a $500 million tender for the construction of a 1,900-megawatt power plant in India's North Karanpura.

balkan ping!

Npw, Maja Gojkovic is from pro-Russian Radical party. 7 days ago European Union stoped negotiations with Serbia due to non cooperation with UN court, also US is likley tostop aid to Serbia. On other side Russia is pumping aid to parts of Serbia iwth pro-russian administration while pro-western goverment is stranded.

What will happen? Pro-russians will win. Simple logic, Russia is helping us, west is pushing us.

Im afraid of that, but that is what is gonan happen if nothing changes on the west...

If Serbia refuses to live up to its international obligations, then the Russians can have you.

Enjoy.

You just go right on repeating that to yourself as Serbia continues to fall further behind its neighbors.

While I don't think it will get that bad, you're certainly heading in that direction.

Seems Japan is in on the financial action, too:

Serbia keeps wanting to turn westward, because it's in their nature. But the West turns its back and the East offers her a hand. What would you do if you were her?

Exactly Bokababe,
Serbia is by default western country, yet buisiness is buisiness, andmaking money is a postulate for building true democracy, cause only in deceloped country where people are not hugry, you can have democracy.

Japan finances Serbia economic reforms

BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro, May 11 (UPI) -- Japan has made grants totaling $800,000 to stimulate reforms and employment in private and finance sectors in Serbia-Montenegro.

Japan's Ambassador Tadashi Nagai said the grant was aimed at offering technical assistance in improving fiscal management, business climate and stabilization of the financial sector.

He said the Japanese government "believes that re-structuring these sectors is essential" for Serbia-Montenegro, which is turning its post-communist system into a free-market economy, the Serbian radio-television reported.

Nagai attended a ceremony at which officials of Serbia-Montenegro and the World Bank signed an agreement on Japan's donation.

Japan has donated more than $8 million to Serbia-Montenegro in the past five years.

You can talk about socialism all you want, but the basic fact of the matter is that Serbia is the one place in the balkans inhabited by normal, middle class people. Serbia will rise again, Kosovo will belong to Serbia again, and you and all your narco-terrorist relatives over there in Tirana will be sitting there breeding yourselves into extinction in projects which look like Gangs of New York in your own place because every other place in the balkans will have thrown your goofy asses out. In fact, at some point fairly soon, ALL slammites will get heaved out of Europe.

In fact America's out of control state department may still be stuck in some sort of clintonista wet dream regarding policy in the balkans, but obviously other countries including Russia and Japan are not.

On other side Russia is pumping aid to parts of Serbia iwth pro-russian administration

According to the article Russian company will build thermal plant but nothing about any aid. If you will pay them, they will build it, quite simple.

Im afraid of that, but that is what is gonan happen if nothing changes on the west...

Why do you think that somebody in the west would care wherever such a small country like Serbia will serve the interest of Russia or not? I think that is rather your problem and if your compatriots wish that to happen, let it be… and I’m not a big fun of Kremlin as you probably are well aware.

Normal, middle class people who make an average of $2,800/yr.

But so long as you can retreat into an unfounded superiority complex in regards to the neighbors, or blame all your woes on Clinton, who cares how bad things are getting, huh?

You been following this very long?

Basically, if there was any one thing you could count on with Slick KKKlinton it was that any time, anywhere in the world, should the interests of ordinary middle class people came into conflict with the interests of trash, you could absolutely count on KKKlinton to come down four-square on the side of the trash. Albanians and Bosnians of course are beyond trash; they're the kind of people who give trash a bad name.
