Finally, someone in Hollywood willing verbally rip the Che t-shirts off the hippies and college kids. Andy Garcia is discussing his new film "The Lost City" about Cuba on the Michael Medved show now.
Notice that you don't see Andy Garcia in the movies as much as you used to? Methinks his conservatism has something to do with that.
With a name like Garcia, there's a decent chance he might have been a closet Catholic all along. A real one. In which case, that'd be great.
I'm a little ticked off at the moment because someone called in and said that Jimmy Carter said we should emulate Fidel Castro's wonderful government and Andy said he hadn't heard that and he thinks Carter is a great humanitarian. I wish Michael had pulled out a quote from Carter to inform Andy about Carter's true colors.
Let's hope so. But we are!
Yay! I only wish I, too, could vote for him as a potential challenger to Boxer, but I'm not in CA. I can't wait to see his film. I'm so glad Andy is speaking out about the real Che. It's time people really get it, if they can. And Garcia will be in Oceans 13, so I can't wait to see how his leftie co-stars, Clooney and Damon and others, deal with the whole thing. Oh, I doubt the media will throw them any tough questions, but still, Garcia's film and comments fly in the face of Clooney's and Damon's leftie politicking.
I'll have to make sure to see his move. Got to support the few conservatives in Hollycommyland!
He also said he is deeply disappointed with anyone who admires Castro.
I don't actually know his politics. But aren't most Cubans Republican?
He seems to be staying very busy.

He said he goes up to people with Che t-shirts and asks them why they think he is a hero. He says he finds that they don't really know the history of Che.
People who believe in myths, and that's a big chunk of the American public, really don't care what the real Che Guevara was like.
Agree completely. Most people with Che t-shirts think he was a 'rebel' and 'revolutionary' and 'romantic' hero. Clueless. I always point out that the real rebels on college campuses these days are the conservatives!
Maybe he lost a bet.
Andy Garcia is a Cuban-American (yes, that's a - ) who is very anti-communist like most Cuban-Americans.
After listening to him on Medved, it seems he is more liberal than Catholic. I am not bashing him; I understand he is in a precarious position making an anti-commie movie and appearing on a Conservative talk show.
I know. I listened to the interview. My comment was referring to his contribution to Clooney's campaign.
Wow. I'm glad to hear him speak out. I can't imagine how his Oceans co-stars are 'feeling' with his comments. It's perfect timing for him, and his film. Just when Americans were forgetting about communisms' evils (i.e. the Che tshirts popping up again), this will serve as a reminder to the real evils we still have. I wish I had gotten to see him on The View. I'm not a 'regular viewer' of The View but I think it would have been interesting to see him stick to his point about the evils of Castro and his communism with them.
Was doing take out at the local Indian place, and while I'm waiting, notice three college age, or just thereafter, folks, apparently a couple and another guy. Guy with the gal is wearing a Che t-shirt. Muahaha!
On the way out, I wander by their table, and say "Good evening! Since you're wearing a Che t-shirt, I couldn't resist pointing out my version of that, since it's brand new. By the way, our guy won, the Berlin Wall fell, and your guy is DEAD! Y'all have a good night!"
Guy and the gal looked like deer in the headlights. The other guy "got it", and was chuckling with a huge grin on his face, as I exited the scene.
By the way, I've got a Reagan shirt in "marine" green.
