Yes I know the problems you face. Beautiful homes near a canyon where illegals have set up camp.

I am in the heart of the city and while going to the store the other week I walked into what was the end of a chase,
the type you see on FOX.
A car loaded with illegals sped through one of the check points and the chase was on the freeways going north.
Choppers overhead and after miles, they took one of the
turn offs and ended up in a busy area of the city.
I had to walk through loads of police cars loading up the illegals to get into the store.

Ya know it is a mystery why Mexico is and always has been a mess politically. Before I retired we opened a large engineering Branch office in Monterrey and we had no problem finding good competent engineers and designers. There are many US based companies in Mexico but It appears that those companies are just using Mexican labor to build and ship the product back into the US. There just doesn't appear to be a "Mexican economy". At least China is building a consumer class along with exports. I really don't get it.

When I renewed my license here in Arizona last year (pre prop 200) they didn't ask me if I was or was not a legal resident.

Didn't I hear that the Dem's in California were trying to get a drivers license for illegals past Arnold for a second time?

All the more reason we need to open up ANWAR, and drill on the other 3 coasts. Also shut the environmentalists up and build new refineries. Whats more important, 12 species of flies or the survival of human beings?

I agree completely.

That action begins in each state. Purge the spineless RINOs in the primaries and elect CONSERVATIVES, even if the GOP won't back them.

Oklahoma had a 2-way RINO race, and grassroots pushed another to enter the race. He entered the race late, but left the competition in the dust! Tom Coburn hasn't dissappointed me yet!

I back the Kyl Cornyn bill

I do as well and have been seeing red over the political ads (run by Pederson who is running against Kyl for Senate)who is trying to put McCain's bill into Kyl's ballpark. I'm afraid too many people won't know the truth or the difference.

The looming election in Mexico has me very concerned; the potential ramifications are too huge to even think about.

I have a simple solution for America's illegal alien labor attraction. We need to do away with the minimum wage protection for foreign workers, "guest workers".

Allow guest workers access into the US as long as they have a valid, government issued ID document from their country of origin.

If a "guest worker" can take a job Americans won't do, we ought require the employer to apply the current exchange rate of the employee's home country to the offered US labor rate.

For example, China's exchange rate to the US dollar is roughly 0.1209. If a job usually pays an American worker $18/hr, we should require employers to pay Chinese guest laborers only $2.18/hr for that job. Mexico's rate is roughly 0.0909. An $18/hr job ought justly net the Mexican guest worker $1.64/hr for the same labor. India's exchange rate is....well, you get the picture...

In addition to any criminal charges that may apply for violations, allowing US citizens the ability to file significant civil litigation against employers for discriminatory practices would also help. If a Mexican guest worker is proven to have been paid $8/hr to shrub ditchbanks by a US employer, the employer ought be required to show he'd advertized an offer to Americans of $88/hr ($8 USD divided by 0.0909). If a Chinese guest worker is proven to have been paid $8/hr to wash dishes, the employer ought be required to show he'd posted an offer to Americans of $66/hr for the same job ($8 USD divided by 0.1209). Only if employers charged with discriminatory practices show they've offered/paid an American an adjusted net equivalent wage should they be abled to avoid prosecution.

Free markets ought be just that. Either they are free, or they aren't.

Are these state laws or Federal, and who do we go to in order to end social welfare to illegals?? Anyone??

California and Los Angeles backdoor the issue by requiring that govt' workers cannot ask about legal status. For ex. : Los Angeles PD has special order 40, which prevents any policeman from asking immigration status, or reporting known violators to the Feds. This means if a known gangbanger who was deported after serving a jail term shows up in L.A., cops who spot him can't drop a dime to ICE.

Dear Freepers:
Here are some suggestions about making a difference in stopping illegal immigration. Of course keep e-mailing your congressional representative. On the state and local front, e-mail your local state representative and state senator and ask him or him to call for an accounting of how much your state, city, school district, or hospital district, or community college, is spending on behalf of illegals. If you live in an initiative state, file an initiative petition that calls for a fearless and thorough accounting of what your state is spending on illegals. AND, Go after the greedy, selfish employers who are exploiting desperate people. Go after them hammer and tong. Boycott Tyson Foods. Stand outside Safeway or Costco with a sign asking people not to patronize Tyson the Exploiter. Ask your Congressman to remove Tyson products from the Senate and House Dining rooms. Ask your Congresspeople to give back any campaign contributions from employers suspected of exploiting illegals (Tyson). Boycott the big employers who are exploiting illegals. Have a few bumper stickers printed and pass them out to your friends. Go down to the local eatery with your very own sign and picket on the sidewalk outside the restaurant (call the local rag and them them you and a friend or two are coming. AND, Boycott Mexico itself - remember tourism is a big item for Mexico. Ask your friends to cancel their trips to Cancun and other spots. Call airlines and tell them you will no longer fly with them if they continue flights to Mexico. Ask your friends who have cancelled their trips to write the Mexican government and tell them why they are not coming. Support reform in Mexico, which has been strangled by corruption and a rich elite in spite of its huge natural resources, and, let's not forget, its human resources, who clearly are willing to work hard. Go to your city council and so forth and ask them to pass resolutions calling on reform in Mexico. (now that's something the, ah, bleeding hearts might like...) Write letters to the editor. Keep up the calls to your Congressmen. Thanks

Why ..... are our voter instructions in English AND Spanish? Shouldn't you know how to read and speak English to become an American Citizen?

Good post, MissAmericanPie. Thanks!

Two points I'd like to address. I understand your point about the wall/fence, which overrides any change in administration. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but you make a good point that the military could be removed in the future.

Second, the militants HAVE to be sent home, deep into the country. I really would have liked to have seen arrests during the protests of the agitators........and wonder why that couldn't have been done.

I think it is and has been looming even larger in the Administrations mind. There is a very serious problem Brewing South of the border all the way to Argentina.

So with the state of California, and LA and San Diego hospitals out of control, it is California law that needs to be changed?

I think this problem is too big now to do something that will be what the majority of people will agree with. I definitely would not want to be in the president's shoes with this issue. For the ones that are here, I would make all the ones here learn english. If you don't want to learn english, then go home. As for any more education, they will just have to understand that if you come here illegally, we are not going to pay for you to go to college. They will have to understand that the only jobs they will get are going to be the ones that need no education. I would go ahead and put the Guard on the border right now and keep any more from coming in also. I don't know what else I would do.

You're right. MONEY talks. We have sent NO money to the RNC, and when they have called we have said why.

We continue to support individual Republicans with specific donations to them.

Napolitano keeps screaming for the President to put the guard on our border (as if she can't do it herself) and then our senate sends her a bill to fund such a move and she vetoes it and they tries to say it's the President's fault they are still streaming in here.

Since Joe Arpaio announced a week ago that his posse was going to patrol Maricopa County and he was going to use our new law (passed by the Gov by error to hold them in jail -- no catch and release -- he said today the illegals in the desert of Maricopa have dried up -- guess the word spread really fast and they are bypassing that part of Arizona... so enforcement does work....
