"Your first erroneous assumption has the rest of the world playing spectators watching Iran play a game. "

This is probably a safe bet depending on what happens in November. The EU is cutting deals with Hamas, and the French won't even fight on their own homeland. Russia and China are selling advanced weapons to anyone who can pay cash. The only Euro with a spine is Blair and he is about to be toppled by internal politics.

Here in the US we are already talking pullout of Iraq and closing Gitmo, thus turning the worst of the terrorists loose. If the Demorats take control of congress in November some have promised to impeach Bush. Even if they fail to throw him out of office he certainly won't be in any position to launch a war against a Nuclear armed nation.

If the attack is launched by terrorists and has plausible deniability then he will probably get away with it. Certainly the UN will pass resolutions stating that Israel blew itself up. And the crowd at Moveon, KOS and DU will claim that the US blew up Israel in order to Wag the Dog for Bush. Remember they have claimed exactly that for 911. And after all everything is Bush's fault. For a group of wack jobs that blamed Tsunamis and Hurricanes on him this is hardly a stretch.

NICE STYLE LSUfan. Didnt the Mahdi who cut off Gordon's head in Khartom in 1895 then send a letter to the Queen asking her to surrender and convert ?

"We were at this parade, and in all his statements he tells his people: 'Prepare in your hearts for the return of the Mahdi...' Speaking to his troops he actually said: 'You are the men who have been commissioned to usher in the return of the Mahdi.'"

Responding, Robertson described Ahmadinejad as "nuts … out of his mind."

Pat Robertson may want to refer back to the Bible for an eye opener...Ahmanutjob in my view is right on the money on this one...

Bottom line: Iran would have to take their best shot, because they will not get a second one.

That's all this homicidal maniac wants. One big shot into the heart of Israel, and his place in history is secure.

Please don't let Jimmy Carter go to Iran without his "kissin kin", Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Howard Dean, Chucky Schumer, John Kerry, and the rest of the brain-dead Liberals. None of these "clueless", useful idiots, think we're in any danger from anyone other than George Bush.

..... in other words we will have to PROVE IRAN did it first... ....

This proof will be demanded to justify the President's obliteration of all the Iranian oil refineries and enrichment facilities.

He will respond there was a clear and present danger.

Yep, as usual, he is going right by the islamic playbook. From the islamic point of view, Ahmadinejad is just a devout "Twelver" and it is the West that is crazy.

I've always wondered what would happen if an "end times" kook got hold of an WMD and was given 1/2 the chance to start it.

and closing Gitmo, thus turning the worst of the terrorists loose

They would not turn the worst of these terrorists loose....you are missing the point. They are simply talking about turning Gitmo loose as a decision completely separate from the decisions of what will be done to those terrorists there.

Some will be tried and executed (military courts) some will simply be moved to other prisons (Stan, Qatar, Iraq and the like).

>>>I hope Israel has their nukes in separate and secure locations so they all can't be taken out by a single hit.

Israel learned from us the value of the nuclear triad. Reportedly they have missiles in hardened silos, bombs and cruise missiles in bunkers at airfields, and at sea on cruise missiles in German built state of the art conventional submarines.

Samson brought the temple down on his enemies the story goes, and I believe Israel also remembers that lesson.

Iran's seeming confidence is disturbing though. I accept they already possess nukes. Perhaps from Saddam's "non-existant" wmd stockpiles, perhaps from Korea. I'm glad I don't live in Tel Aviv, New York City, or Washington.

"Indicators observed by independent Iran watchers during the past week are raising the question that nuclear-seeking Iran is not merely playing a serious game of brinkmanship, but is actually preparing to strike at Israel, European and US interests."

Of course the Grand Master of all Cesar Salads is planning an attack on both us and the Jooz. Why wont anyone just take him at his paranoid, psychopathic word?

And, after Sluggo Chavez' remark about allah last week, I think he will shut off any oil he supplies to the US in order to create a huge energy crisis. He'll help iran if he can! If China and Russia should side with iran,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

They have them on German built Dolphin submarines. If the Israelis get hit, Iran is toast.

Maybe it's about time that Israel cut itself loose to do what they decide to do. That means, be understood, that they do it without any support from us and be solely responsible for their own future. If you act alone, you live alone.
