SHAME ON Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Rupert Murdoch, the right-wing publishing mogul, is hosting a fund-raiser in July for her Senate reelection campaign.
Her explanation is that Murdoch, based in New York, is an important constituent: ''I'm very gratified that he thinks I'm doing a good job."
Murdoch runs Fox television, home of Bill O'Reilly and company.
No far-right media enterprise has been more relentlessly dishonest in its efforts to destroy American liberalism in general and the Clintons in particular.
Fox was prime cheerleader for the bogus Whitewater investigation and the impeachment campaign against Bill Clinton.
Fox exists to oppose every liberal principle that Senator Clinton is accused, perhaps falsely, of standing for.
Murdoch also publishes the tawdry, viciously anti-Clinton New York Post and the more sober ideological print organ the Weekly Standard.
You can't imagine the opposite kind of deal happening in American politics, because a left-wing Murdoch doesn't exist.
That's why the man is so powerful, and such a nemesis to principled liberals.
Politics may make strange bedfellows, but for sheer cynicism and mutual expediency it's hard to beat this alliance.
Maybe the Hitler-Stalin pact.
What's in it for Hillary? First, obviously, the money.
By raising mountains of campaign cash, she hopes to make herself the inevitable 2008 nominee.
What, ultimately, does Hillary Clinton stand for?
Increasingly, it looks as if she stands for Hillary Clinton.
And where have we heard that story before? It seems to run in the family.
What is tragic about the Clintons is to see so much promise yoked to such opportunism. Nobody in American politics can deliver a well-informed speech without notes better than Hillary Clinton, with the possible exception of Bill Clinton.
Nobody can be more charming in person, with the possible exception of her faithless husband.

Quoting the Boston Globe...
"Courting Rupert Murdoch's money just doesn't pass the smell test."
On the contrary, they've been quite transparent and somewhat effective, imo.
Robert Kuttner must be a moderate in Boston !
"Fox's relentless efforts to destroy American liberalism."
And the problem is ?
On the contrary, Mr. Kuttner, there were numerous convictions arrising from the Whitewater investigations, most of whom were business partners of the Clintons. One of them was the sitting Governor of Arkansas, a very close associate of Bill.
Well, the author got that part right. No matter, he'll send her money and vote for her anyway, of course.
Does anybody else remember when Old man Kennedy forced son Bobby on the McCarthy committee? He used to rub elbows with Roy Cohn.
Just like the Kennedys, Murdoch is spreading his bet.

Nobody can be more charming in person, with the possible exception of her faithless husband.
But these days, everything she does seems calculating...
could easily lose what faltering affection she retains from Democratic voters, .....
My, my. What a lot of exposed liberal underbelly is in this diatribe!
It's hard to decide where the most blatant falsehood - outright lies - are.
I can't decide if these people are deliberatly spewing these lies or are delusional or have been preaching lies and hating us for so long, they can't tell the difference.
Bottom line - she done got her base fuming. (Murdock strategery?)

No far-lef media enterprise has been more relentlessly dishonest... tawdry, viciously bankrupt the Catholic church than the Boston Glove.
News Corp. executives gave to Kerry too.
But because Fox News is to the right of CNN, they are considered "conservative".
CNN is to the right of CNN Europe. Does that make CNN "conservative"?
CNN Europe is to the right of Pacifica. Does that make CNN Europe conservative?
Even Al Jazeera is to the right of Pacifica (home of "Osama Bin Goodman").
Perspective is everything.
The Boston Globe ran long discredited porn site photos as "evidence" that US troops were raping Iraqi women in prisons.
They are a worthless rag and a tool of the anti-American propagandists.
I'm noticing a lack of examples. Big surprise.
I think that we both agree that Fox News has been accurate in trying to bring forth multiple points of view.
The old media outlets generally or always present only one point of view. The editorials and the "news" in the old media is slanted toward only one point of view.
I did not object to your post. I agree with it. We both disagree with this editorial.
As an editor, I have to point out the differences - :
Editorial: publishing an article in a newspaper or magazine that expresses the opinion of its editor or publisher
Diatribe: a bitter verbal or written attack on somebody or something
Rant: speech or language that is very loud and threatening but also monotonous or unconvincing
This piece is a frothing at the mouth, ranting diatribe
My guess is that Rupert Murdoch is buying access.
This is a way to hedge his bets. No matter who wins in the future, he can get a meeting.
"This piece is a frothing at the mouth, ranting diatribe..."
It is fun to watch the old liberals blow up with their blind hatred.
They attack each other worse than they attack us.
They pretend to make nice during the elections, but really they hate each other.

Hey George, when did Steinway start manufacturing pianos with arms?
So, may we presume that this Kuttner creature is a stooge of the Kerry/Kennedy cult and is opposed to the Clinton cult aspirations for 2008?
That's disgusting! imho Boston is rotten to the core.
The News Corp execs who gave to Kerry didn't give to Bush. It wasn't hedging bets. It was alligning with ideology.
And why give to Hill when she hasn't even secured the nomination yet? Why place her as the front runner or worthy of the financial backing?
I don't want this couple to get another 8 unconstitutional years as "co-president". Term limits are meaningless if it stands. Bubba could just marry floozie #1, #2, and #3 to keep remaining elligible for residence in the White House. And if he converts to Islam, he can get those quicky divorces where he just recites the magic words "I divorce you" 3 times.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll ping my FoxFan list here...

Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
These liberal jerks haven't figured that out after all these years?

Sheesh!
That's the key. Liberals hate each other, hate their country, and hate themselves. Hate is all they have.
When you factor in that she will easily win re-election and has enough money in her campaign chest, it sounds logical that Murdoch may indeed be looking to upset her base. Then again Murdoch didn't earn $60 billion on sheer stupidity so perhaps he's preparing for the eventuality that she may (God forbid) become President.
I also wouldn't discount the possibility that his new young Chinese wife has turned Murdock soft in the head and made him fit for brainwashing by Manchurian Candidate Hillary.
