It is not just the present. The engine for the P-51 came from Rolls Royce.

Nixon just before he resigned had a 24 rating, but that was with his scandals and a horrible economy on top of his scandals. If Bush vetos this and still flops on immigration, he may very well head to under 20 in his popularity ratings.

Pick fights?
So just why did Sandy Berger walk on some serious felonies, particularly involving 9-11. Don't that strike you as odd... the whole nation wanted answers.
Could it be...........

Nice.
If it wasn't for the national libertarian parties' stance on a couple of issues, mostly the borders, I'd consider them more.

What does pistol caliber have to do with domestic versus overseas procurement?

Actually Packard Motor Car company built that engine to a British design. Originally, the P-51 (it was first a A-36 dive bomber) was scheduled to use the Allison V-1710, built by General Motors.

It really doesn't in my case but there are reasons we trade with the world.

This article was crafted to cause trouble. It is not China that is at issue. It is the UK. These provisions would prevent the Pentagon from buying equipment from BAE in the UK and that would disrupt the JSF program. Like children, a significant number of those here are motivated by a mob mentality. Anything that's put up about Bush causes these piranha to chew it up and spit out anti-Bush rhetoric.
There's no thought involved, just emotion.

[sinkspur:]But I used two crews (most of whom, I suspect, were illegals) two years ago to do the tile and general remodeling work on my house. I had two Anglo guys put down a wood floor. The difference in the quality of the work and the speed with which it was done was like night and day.
[sinkspur:]I also have a maid who, I suspect, is illegal. She does a better job than the Anglo maid I had to fire (for not showing up when she said she would), for the same money, and I don't have to listen to constant complaining.

If Bush vetos this and still flops on immigration, he may very well head to under 20 in his popularity ratings. Nobody cares. These polls are becoming totally meaningless. He's got two more years in office, and you Bush-haters are just going to have to learn to live with it.

Recently (as in the last six months) a senior Army logistician general officer said the following in my presence, "We have made ourselves dependent on the air bridge to Asia to stay in business (keep the Army running)."
Does that tell you something?
To: A. Pole
This issue has nothing to do with immigration, Polski.
Try to keep your Bush-hating posts on topic.

I stand corrected. The Merlin (Rolls Royce's design) was built by Packard for the P-51.

I guess the President has never heard of the Berry Amendment which requires we buy American. You can go around the Amendment if the product or service you need in not available through a US vendor or it is in the best interest of the end user to acquire said item elsewhere.

This is the 540th threatened veto of his administration. Will he actually carry it out or will he cave again?

Why. If banning some imports is good then why isn't banning all imports better?
So it costs more and the world would stop buying American products and all cooperative projects would have to stop - isn't it worth it for the principle of buying American?

"Buying foreign products to please foreigners is very bad policy, and is also how our military ended up with underpowered, trouble-plagued beretta pistols." Might want to research the actual process that brought us the M9. There were a few companies that beat out the M9 but all refused to build a plant in the US to produce the new sidearm. Beretta was willing and won the contract. Also note that the Beretta beat out quite a few US offered handguns.
