You have to look at it this way...
Would you rather have Bush and a Republican Congress who is willing to put through 30 - 40% of a Conservative agenda
or
Would you rather have Bush and a Democratic Congress who will probably only end up putting through 5 - 10% of a Conservative agenda... (and of course the Democratic congress will be pushing for impeachment and investigations)
"Electing Democrats is not a remedy for corruption.
It could be, however, that 2008 will be the year of third, fourth and fifth parties, with the GOP nominee finishing out of the money."
I'm afraid your second theory would only lead to the non-remedy of elected dims. I've been thinking about a nationwide boycott of the next national election. I don't know what would happen as a result of no, or rather very few voters, but it would be interesting.
In all reality it will never happen. If it did happen it would probably lead to the election of dims, as the crack heads and the dead would still show up at the polls.
But the blame goes equally to the pubbies and the dims on the current immigartion disaster.
President Bush has always been wishy washy on illegal immigration. But the issue has come to a head now because of the amnesty proposal. It's not some secret plot to undermine the President; it's his and the Congress' own doing.
Issues typically become "hot" when there is pending legislation, especially when a whole lot of Americans find the legislation abhorrant.
The President and legislators should have seen this issue coming a mile away. The fact that they've been surprised by how upset people are just shows how out of touch many of them are with average Americans.
"....had it been a priority, it would have been secured 9/12."
EXACTLY! That was the golden moment for this. Instead of "we're closing the borders, there is a moratorium on all immigration, no males from middle eastern countries will be admitted here for any reason..." etc. we got "Islam is a religion of peace."
Would you rather have Bush and a Democratic Congress who will probably only end up putting through 5 - 10% of a Conservative agenda...

Relativism does not change the facts. I voted and the rest of the conservative voters worked hard, and got, a supposedly conservative President with a Repub majority FOR TWO TERMS -- unheard of for some time. The voters cannot do any better than that, other than if we had really elected a CONSERVATIVE. And we got about 5-10%...plus increasing huge numbers of illegal Mexicans we don't want and a disasterous border situation.
Excepting the SCOTUS appointments and a token tax reduction, look at what we got.
Uh the fact is that you will never be happy, no matter how many times the facts are pointed out to you.
But you go ahead and scream your relativist lie that kerry anf President Bush are the same politically.
Hope you're wrong about that.

Nice try. I did not say that -- you did.
LOL! Nice try at deflection, ain't gonna work, Mr. malcontent.

We will be thinking of your misdirected rah-rah...as we listen to MR. Bush tell us what he is NOT going to do about closing our borders and getting the entire illegal issue under control. Vent your frustrations on him, not those that care about this country.
Actually I do care about America. I don't want it to follow the disasterous economic micromanaging of the old soviet union, as you seem to want.
I agree with what you said to Napkinuser.
You enforce the law, or you do not enforce the law. It seems pretty black or white to me. To draw a parallel, you are either pregnant or you are not pregnant. Any woman ever been almost, sorta, maybe, not really pregnant?
You trolls just don't realize how transparent you are.
Why do you refer to other FReepers as trolls and tell them to STFU? If someone expresses an opinion, are they trolls, and should STFU?
Well, it used to be that way. Up until a few weeks ago, politicians used to say that this nation is a nation of laws. Based upon what I've been seeing the last few years, this concept has expired.
But then again, someone will tell me I'm a troll and to STFU.
" Bush II: What's good for Mexico is good for America."
Nutshell!
New tagline
"Bush hasn't changed his policy on immigration..."
Yes he has. He now supports a path to citizenship for illegals.
Makes sense to me. Which one is it? The left one or the right one?
