PARDON MY CYNICISM (Justified!)

Senators will start debate as early as Monday on a bill that would create a temporary- worker program, stiffen penalties for employers who hire undocumented workers, and allow millions of illegal aliens to apply for citizenship.

Tom Tancredo had harsh words regarding the Frist-Reid compromise that allowed the Senate bill to go forward. "By caving in to the Democrats this morning, Bill Frist pushed the Senate towards the biggest illegal-alien amnesty in American history," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., the leader of those Republicans. "It is a sad day for legal immigrants who embrace this country by following our laws, and it is a sad day for all Americans who are concerned about our national and economic security."

WorldNetDaily reports, "Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is warning that the immigration bill favored by Senate Republicans will permit up to 36 million illegal aliens, as opposed to the 11 million being cited by proponents, to remain in the U.S. – a number that will make the average American 'furious' when learned and will hurt the GOP.

" 'I am very worried that the Republican leadership in the Senate and potentially the White House are just going to end up very alienated from the vast majority of Americans on this issue,' Gingrich told Human Events in an exclusive interview.. 'The Senate bill is an absolute disaster.'

" 'The Senate is drifting toward a disaster of the first order,' Gingrich said. 'The bill they're looking at is a bad bill. It violates, in almost every case, what the American people want.'

" 'If there is an honest debate about how many million people will be given a chance to come to America under the Senate bill, we're told the number is between 30 million and 36 million people,' he said. 'When the average American learns that, they are going to be furious if the Senate Republicans allow that kind of bill out of the Senate.'

" 'The Senate bill expands substantially who can be brought in as a member of the family,' Gingrich noted. 'So you take 11 million and add the other people, and we believe the real number is between 30 million and 36 million.' "

The Pentagon is being asked to possibly provide thousands of National Guard troops to shore up the U.S. border with Mexico, as part of President Bush's effort to gather support for an overhaul of the nation's immigration laws. Bush is expected to reveal his plans in an address Monday at 8 p.m. EDT. It will be the first time he has used the Oval Office for a domestic policy speech - a gesture intended to underscore the importance he places on the divisive immigration issue. Bush's speech Monday night is intended to build support for broad immigration overhaul by taking substantive steps to secure the border.

The Associated Press reports, "The Pentagon is looking at ways the military can help provide more security along the U.S. southern border, defense officials said Thursday, once again drawing the nation's armed forces into a politically sensitive domestic role. "On Capitol Hill on Thursday, the House voted 252-171 to allow Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to assign military personnel under certain circumstances to help the Homeland Security Department perform border security. The House added the provision to a larger military measure."

Bush has had almost five and a half years to secure our borders and only now...just before an important Senate vote on his precious guest worker bill, he MAY request the National Guard to help secure the borders. The American people are not as dumb as he thinks we are. We can recognize a con job when we see one!

All these recent raids on employers hiring illegal aliens is another con job. The only companies getting busted are small potatoes outfits, with no political clout. Have you seen any companies like Tyson Foods or other major meat packers being raided? Of course not -- nor will you! Walk into any of their numerous plants wearing a blue jacket and blue baseball cap and yell "La Migra" at the top of your lungs and see what happens...but be sure to get out of the way of the stampede before you do so.

LOU DOBBS:

"As many as 3 million illegal aliens continue to cross our border with Mexico each year. Enforcement against illegal employers of illegal aliens in this country is all but nonexistent, Mr. President. How do you explain that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have all but ended their investigations and inspections of employers that hire illegal aliens? Again, only a rhetorical question, because we all know the answer.

"But here is the official record of your sense of duty: 318 employers out of five and a half million in this country have been fined for hiring illegal aliens since 2001. In 2004, only three employers were fined. That is a dismal record, Mr. President, as dismal as the fact that the number of ICE agents assigned to enforce immigration laws in the workplace has declined from only 240 back in 1999 to now less than 100.

Illegal alien employer fines 2001 100 2002 53 2003 162 2004 3 (Source: GAO reports,8/31/05)

"The problem in our lack of border security and illegal immigration is becoming increasingly obvious: two political parties that are beholden to corporate America, the largest employers of illegal aliens, and the leadership of both parties that are selling out American citizens in search of cheap labor and political advantage. How dumb do you all think we are? Again, that's only a rhetorical question."

The truth is, Bush has tanked in the polls, his approval rate is a pitiful 29%. Congress has dropped to 18%. The American people are very angry right now. The elections are a mere six months away. Americans have no need to march in the streets. They can make their displeasure felt in a more direct way. Our rallying cry should be "Remember in November!" So go ahead, senators...slit your own political throats. Pass your guest worker bill...if you dare.

How? By voting Libertarian? Nope. Commie? Nope. GOP? Nope. Dem? Nope.

What viable candidates exist who will protect the integrity of our country? The Founding Fathers were worried about the potential dysfunctions of untrammeled democracy. I don't know if they realized how bad the dysfunctions of an established party system could get (although George Washington himself recognized the potential) with an effective ruling class of lawyers and politicians.

...an effective ruling class of lawyers and politicians.

Democrats and Republicans are rather like doctors and morticians. When they pass one another they wink.

You're right. We're screwed and somehow we've got to get this political class converted to another profession.

Perhaps we could outsource our government.

Any third party candidate is better then what we have now. I intend to vote constitution party for any office that has such a candidate and will continue to do so until Republicans learn how to be real conservatives, nay scratch that, until they learn how to be Americans and do what is right for the country instead of doing all for power!

Frist is divorced from reality. After January 2007 he will be permanently divorced from any political office.

I hope you discriminate about which GOP candidate you're not voting for. Some Republicans ARE conservative, and I hope you don't blindly vote for a 3rd party candidate before you know your first option is a RINO.

Think the 20 million are to many wait you ain't seen nothing yet! Think there are enough jobs to justify 56 million illegals? Guess again.

The jobs are beginning to dry up already what do you think millions of angry illegals will do when they can't get any jobs and they continue to loiter our streets.

Fortunately this has to go to conference with the House. I'm hoping the result will be genuinely good: much tighter border security, including fences, much stiffer penalties for hiring illegals, a guest-worker program (possibly with amnesty into guest-worker status, just to make the logistics easier) but NO amnesty onto a citizenship track.

Perhaps the formation of the " Constitutional Conservative Party " will scare 'em........would not need to win a majority of votes, just target one rino at a time...one victory is all it will take to get someones attention.
