I know I'm gonna hate myself in the morning ...

Jane! You ignorant slut! Don't take this personally - I'm just responding on a live thread to the last post I ran across - my comment has nothing to do with your post I just can't control my mouse or find the Ctrl-Home key to help locate a chance to post to the thread's owner or even the page up/page down keys to find something even remotely on point to respond to - I have to add this part as its bad form to end a sentence with a preposition.

RA: Thank you for your service to country. We are in your debt.

Charlie

RA was talking about the duty of the National Guard - I was confused by the response as well. Sorry.

Truth - we've met (& BBM) - sorry but I think you're wrong here - respond to the thread's poster - then its just a bump and your thought will be registered without confusing FReople. ;-) I must go now - you FReepers keep us thread police vey buzy. ;-)
RetiredArmy: Thank you for your service to country. We are in your debt. I never served but I got your back. ;-)

Charlie

Can't imagine this idiot lasting more than one night.

Me either. His show was all contraceptive talk, all the time.

I did the smartest thing of all - bought a patio home with very small front and back yards....then to top it off, hired a lawn care service to take care of it!!!! I love planting "stuff" - just can't stand mowing and edging....

That story misquoted him. The doctor said he didn't have to worry about cancer, but HEARTBURN, not heartbreak.

They are even changing the quotes to make themselves look better!

"......what do you mean when you use the word "tar baby."

"The folktale achieved currency in the United States in written form in one of Joel Chandler Harris's Uncle Remus stories, a collection of stories based on African-American folklore, narrated by the fictional Uncle Remus, a former slave. In the story "Tar-Baby," the character Brer Fox makes a doll out of tar, which he places by the road to entrap his enemy Brer Rabbit. Brer Rabbit talks to the doll, and when it doesn't answer, he hits it, and gets stuck in the tar. The more he struggles with it, the more he is entangled in it."

"This story has led to the figurative use of tar baby in the sense 'an inextricable problem or situation', sometimes with the nuance 'something used to entrap a person'. Both the examples cited in the question show the use of this sense, which appears to be first used in the early twentieth century."

For the full text go here:Tar Baby

This is the sense in which Tony used the expression. Like so many words now a days they have also taken on derogatory meanings.

79% eh?

Maybe just maybe, most Americans, although rightly concerned about illegal immigration, aren't feeling the snarling, venomous, vindictive, rabid rage at the President that some posters here on FR would have us believe.

This so rocks, watching Tony on the net, not just a Press secretary, but a councilor to the President! I am in shock and just so proud! LOL Like I have had anything at all to do with it! What a thrill!

As I recall it a lot of people on FR was giving Les Kinsolving the "Way to go Lester" when he was asking his crazy questions of Clinton.

Savage just trashed Snow for crying. Called it a ploy to build sympathy for Bush.

"A quickly moving LIVE thread naturally produces comments to the most current poster.

One way to avoid the confusion is to just delete the name in the last post and type in ALL or just delete and leave the To: spot blank.

I use "all" occasionally, but didn't realize the "to" could be left blank. Thanks for the tip.
