Dear ______,
Our immigration system is broken. And we need your help to fix it.
In his address to the nation last night, President Bush showed the way to getting real results on this difficult issue. We need your help today to stand up in support of the President's bold plan. Sign the petition and call your Senators and Representatives to demand immediate action on comprehensive immigration reform.
Our nation faces a long-term problem that requires a long-term solution. As the President outlined, America needs real reform that includes: Dramatic increases in manpower and technology at the border A system of controlled, temporary, and legal entry into the United States that meets our economic needs and relieves the pressure of illegal immigration at the border. No amnesty. Holding employers who hire illegal immigrants accountable, with beefed-up ID requirements - no excuses.
Harry Reid and Senate Democrats have played partisan politics and resisted these basic reform principles and have attempted to block border security legislation at every turn. Every day of Reid's obstruction is one more day with a broken system that isn't working.
Sign our petition to demand solutions, not politics. And call your Senators and Representatives to tell them that you support the President's plan for real border security.
America is a nation of laws. We are also a welcoming nation, one that moves forward confidently in the tradition of Ronald Reagan, who called America a "shining city on the hill" with the doors "open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here." There is no contradiction between these American values. Together, we will secure the border and welcome those who wish to come here legally and build a better life.
This is a decisive moment. The time for action on immigration reform is now.
Sincerely, Ken Mehlman Chairman, Republican National Committee
the pubbies have a problem. their choices like those of the people on flight
93 are between certain death and near certain death.
If they allow the illegals citizenship--the illegal/legals will do what they did after 1986: vote democratic and tip the country to a democratic majority as they have done in california and that because after 1993 in California many mexicans began voting in california to preserve gov bennies--for which the dems excel. There won't be social security benefit for Americans of retirement age from the illegals/legals because they will suck up what ever they put into the economy--as they are now. They won't yield a net gain. ie they won't pay for anyone's social security.
Everyone but everyone who has ever been to any government building that dispenses anything from health care to drivers lisences can't help but notice that the place is swamped with foreigners. Basically the welfare state system set up in the 1960's is being totally gamed by foreigners.
If the president gets his way he will demoralize the republicans bringing on the effects of the 1992 & 1996 elections. There may not even be a third party but when W builds in a reversal of the fortunes of the war of 1848--it creates a kind of passivity in people when they see their leaders commit them to the status of world historical losers.
If Bush decides to put up a wall and expel the illegals then there is a chance to preserve Republican majorities. It would be helpful to promise that the USA will kill the cost of water desalination and transport so as to make it economically possible to turn the deserts 1000 miles from any desert seacoast -- green. (this would increase the habitable size of the USA by a third and double the habitable size of Mexico.)This work is already ongoing and will be accomplished in five years or so--or in about the same time frame that GM promises to have a cost effective fuel cell car. For GM as it is for the GOP its do or die time.
The chief difference between the pubbies current predicament and flight 93 is that they are currently in the cockpit. (if you presume that bush is a republican or at least more of a republican than a bilderburger.)
The point here is that if these guys cannot act like loyal americans at least they can act like republicans. ie people who have a stake in the continuity of the republican party.
Since they are not doing this the republicans in the white house and senate all need to be smacked on both sides of the face and kicked in the but.
We should put a "bounty" on employers of illegal aliens. If you turn one in and they are convicted, you get a percentage of the "take", ie the fines imposed. That would be a great incentive.........
Sorry, GOP, no more pesos or other kind of support for you or your proposals until GOP Senators and the President start acting like conservatives.
I think Mehlman missed the speech.
I'll remind him what was said when I send him Gringo bucks with his next money appeal.
Dear Ken,
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Have a nice day!
ping
I support the House's plan.
Ken Mehlman and the Axis of Amnesty can push their plan on their own.
Tell the GOP what you think!
Chairman@gop.com
"You cannot reform immigration until you control immigration." Lou Dobbs
"Control" is operative term in all these areas:
Immigration needs to be demonstrated as under control;
Pork spending needs to be shown as under control;
Iraq needs to be seen as a war under control and resolvable.
Only way Pubs will win it!
No GOP we need your help to fix it.
The President's "bold plan" - ROTFLMAO
Thats the bad side of the GOP. Its selfish people like that, that give the GOP a bad name. Its not just a part of the capitalistic system. It crooked!
My reply:
The President's BOLD plan as you call it equals surrender. No votes or donations for any member of Congress that votes for amnesty, errr, earned legalization, errr path to citizenship, whatever else you try to call it
You can put lipstick on the illegal immigration pig but it is still a pig. Let Mexico take care of its own citizens, I am tired of it. When you put enforcement first (and that includes interior) then we can talk again.
See ya in November, or maybe not, depends on whose side the candidate is on, Mexico's citizens or U.S. citizens.
Great idea! Fines would have to be something big, like maybe 10k per illegal for first offense! Maybe base it on gross profits, like 5% of last years profit per illegal might be better, 10k for a large company is nothing, but could bankrupt a small restaurant. If they get caught a second time... pull their business liscense! If they really got tough on employers that hire illegals, they would not need the amnesty part.. all the illegals would head out as soon as work dryed up, then they could apply to come legally from home.
"We should put a "bounty" on employers of illegal aliens. If you turn one in and they are convicted, you get a percentage of the "take", ie the fines imposed. That would be a great incentive........."
Great idea.........as long as we can do the same for every government welfare worker who signs up illegals and "can't ask about their legal status, every school administrator who can't wait to add illegals to their enrolement, and every two bit politician who wants to make them legal.
I support HR4437 and Ken Mehlman and his Senate open borders crowd can go $##$%& themselves
My e-mail to the president, vice-president and my senators:
Dear President Bush:
I, and my family, listened with great interest to you speech on immigration last night.
While I certainly agreed with putting the National Guard on the border, that is no substitute for a wall. It works for the Israelis in reducing terrorism, and it will work to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants.
The rest of the speech, however, I found wanting. The problem with immigration is not just that the immigrants are illegal, it is that there are too many of them, legal and illegal. They drain welfare systems and tax dollars meant for Americans. They drive down the wage and salary structure of American workers, who will do any job if the pay is right. This exploitation of both immigrant and American workers is a step up from slavery, but only a step.
They refuse to assimilate, and we make it easy for them by publishing all governmental documents in their languages. We do not teach them English in school, but teach them, poorly, in their own languages.
They bring the cultural pathologies that keep their own countries poor with them, and drag down the standard of living for everyone. I do not doubt for an instant that the vast majority of them are decent, hard-working people who only want a chance for a better life. But that is no reason for them to do it here, especially at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Immigrants add much to our culture, but the base American culture has made it the greatest country on Earth, the one everybody on Earth seems to want to get to. Too much cultural change will destroy that, no matter how benign the intentions of those that want the changes.
Build a wall between the USA and Mexico. Build one between the USA and Canada if necessary.
Ship all apprehended illegal aliens to their home countries.
Enforce rigorous sanctions against those caught employing illegal aliens. Six months in jail for the first offense. Five years in prison for the second. This includes the soccer moms.
Eliminate "birth right" citizenship.
All government documents should be published in English only. Bilingualism should be eliminated in all public schools.
Reduce legal immigration. Eliminate "family reunification" for extended families. Only the spouse and minor children should be allowed in.
The large amounts of immigration currently taking place cannot long be sustained. Not if America is to remain America.
Sincerely,
Chesley
And your solution is . . . resist doing anything positive because you don't agree with part of the proposal and think the other part should have been done earlier (But of course, "earlier" means during Bush's term of office and lets push the history of a decades-old problem under the rug to focus on the real problem - Bush), so let's just aid and abet the Dims and the MSM to prove that Bush is so detestable and incompetent that even Repubs can hate him?
<"You can put lipstick on the illegal immigration pig but it is still a pig. Let Mexico take care of its own citizens, I am tired of it. When you put enforcement first (and that includes interior) then we can talk again. ">
Bravo, Couldn't have said it better myself.
How many threads have you posted your comment on, ckilmer? You must like spam.
GM used to say that, too..........
We do not need a comprehensive immigration reform package. we need to secure our borders first and fine the employers. Then we can deal with the 5 million or so illegal aliens that will be left in this country after the other 5 to 6 million go home - on their own - because there is no work. Face it, 29% of our prisoners are illegals so we know where they are. We do not have to do this all at once.
Write your senators and representatives and tell them to secure our borders first, begin enforcing current immigratino laws against employers hiring illegal aliens, and add a new Amendment that removes the right of automatic citizenship if one is born here. To gain citizenship to the US, one must be born to a U.S. citizen. Period. This Amendment would also deter those pregnant women huffing and puffing across the border to drop their child on our soil.
Do these three things, then the small amount of illegal non-immigrants that are left will be easily taken care of.
Just my opinion.
Ha. I think immigration attorneys should be fined as well for aiding and abetting illegal aliens. I work for immigration attorneys and I could give you a list of over a 100 people with our firm alone, that are in this country illegally, I know their employers, I know that some are self-employed, I know which ones are trying to get citizenship/permanent residency through marrying US citizens, I know which ones have criminal backgrounds...
I also know that the majority of those, at least with our firm, that come in illegally through the southern border are Hispanic/Latino are from not only Mexico but Central and South America. We also get quite a few Bulgarians through San Ysidro.
Moosies, on the other hand, infiltrate through the north - from Canada. Rarely do we see anyone from Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Egypt, etc. come in from the southern border. Canada is where it is at for them and I could give you some names and locations of illegal muslims as well. People that the government has no idea that these people are here until they go to get some sort of immigration status.
Immigration attorneys should not be dealing with illegal border jumpers. Period. They should be required to turn over all names, phone numbers, locations, employers of all illegal aliens who arrived without inspection. We refer to them as EWI's (e-wee's) The attorney's may not be so rich but it's a step in the right direction to make them honest.
BTW - I'm looking for another job. I used to like this when I dealt with investors, business people, etc. who brought money into this country legally and honestly. They waited their turns. Now, with new legislation on the horizon that goes against the very fiber of my being - I need another job Tampa Bay!! :-)
So far I hear one year of National Guard who will not be armed and will not be allowed to participate in enforcement. No wall. No permanency.
The GOP and President Bush are going to play some kind of good cop/bad cop with us, each one knowing that the wall is not really going to be built.
We need to keep up the pressure. No Scooby snacks for Ken Mehlman until we have a wall.
"So far I hear one year of National Guard who will not be armed and will not be allowed to participate in enforcement. No wall. No permanency."
I heard the guard will be armed on Rush today.
Bush said quote...
"The Guard will assist the Border Patrol by operating surveillance systems
analyzing intelligence
installing fences and vehicle barriers
building patrol roads
and providing training. Guard units will not be involved in direct law enforcement activities that duty will be done by the Border Patrol."
Bush said...
"At the same time, we are launching the most technologically advanced border security initiative in American history. We will construct high-tech fences in urban corridors, and build new patrol roads and barriers in rural areas. We will employ motion sensors
infrared cameras
and unmanned aerial vehicles to prevent illegal crossings. America has the best technology in the world and we will ensure that the Border Patrol has the technology they need to do their job and secure our border."
I dont know what people expect. You cant change decades of bad policy over night. This is a start. Just having the Guard involved AT ALL is a miracle in itself *for now*.
But if people want to be stubborn fools and stay home on election day letting democrats take over. You can kiss this start goodbye. People expect a yard of progress or nothing. I will take a few inches rather then lose ground.
Thats the way I see it.
I will NOT let democrats benefit in the least because I didnt get 101% of what I want from a party I mostly agree with.
And you can BET they are drooling over this opportunity.
Oh don't worry, I will never stay home on election day nor will I ever vote for a Rat. I just want to hear a permanent border strategy. With a wall.
We need to allow our law enforcement officers to actually enforce existing laws concerning people in the country illegally.
In Des Moines, Iowa, we could fill a bus or two a night just from routine traffic stops. A supporter of my campaign, and a police officer, pulls over 4 to 6 vehicles each shift filled with people that don't have any identification or insurance. His supervisor requires him to let them go. That is not acceptable.
A system of controlled, temporary, and legal entry into the United States that meets our economic needs and relieves the pressure of illegal immigration at the border.
Enforcement only, repair the leaky borders to stop the leak. Until then, we've already paid more than our share by supporting these invaders Washington has refused to send home.
